  1. Correct, if I were to move the speaker down, I would place it on top of the stand. Window treatments are being looked at and hopefully be here in a few weeks to cut down on glare. Heres a shot that also shows the surrounds;
  2. I am having issues posting, but eventually they go. I do know I need to raise the centre speaker up a little bit more. I measured it and it needs to go up about 3.5 - 4 inches, so I may just make a small platform with some 2x4s, put a small lip on the front so the speaker doesnt slide down, and angle it a little bit more. It is already angled but it may not be noticeable. Here are the rear surrounds. I have the woofers tilted a little bit towards the listening area, and I have the tweeters aiming at the couch which is the main listening area.
  3. Lets see if these photos get posted; This x-country skiing and it is blurry because I did not pause it (OTA broadcast).
  4. I would love to post some photos, but (Im not that stupid) I cant figure out how to do it!
  5. I have had the Klipsch CDT-5800 C's for several years. I have no excuse for not installing them but I finally did yesterday. I ran the Audessy EQ on my Onkyo Pro SC-886 to get the distance and level calibrated, and now I can start enjoying 7.1 sound! These are located in the ceiling about 6 feet apart, and behind the couch (the main listening location) about 8 feet. Because of lights and duct work, I really couldnt get them closer. I look forward to listening to something really good that is either DTS-MA, Dolby True HD, DTE-ES or Dolby Plus! Any suggestions (movies or music)?
  6. I forgot to mention my spoeaker wires are hidden behind walls/corners. It would be extremely difficlut to rewire. I could however plug the banana plug into a wall outlet and extend the wire that way (banana plug to wall connector to banana plug on wire and wire to banana plug into the speaker) (daisy chain?).
  7. I thought I had heard the tweeters should be within 18" of a horizontal line. One reason I do not want to hang it on the wall is the issue it would create with the cables connecting to the back of the TV. Otherwise I think that would be a good idea to place the speaker on the TV stand. Right now the bottom 3 or 4 inches of the RC7 is partially blocked by the TV. My speaker wire is also about 3 feet too short to allow me to place it on the bottom shelf of the stand. That would also place the tweeter farther away from the tweeters on the RF7s. I am very happy with the quality of this 65" plasma. Best Buy has them for a great price right now if anyone is intersted.
  8. I just got a new Panasonic 65" Plasma as a replacement for my defective Sony KDS XBR1 60". I have my RC7 on a TV wall mount to keep it just above the top of the old Sony HDTV. Now with a bigger HDTV (and a 3" taller stand), the Centre speaker will have to go up a few more inches, or should I move it down and into the cabinet. I think I know the answer, but I am looking for some more "expert" advice. I am trying to post a photo, but not having much luck....
  9. It looks to me that your setup is pretty darn good! More power would be overkill if you ask me. I have an Outlaw amp (7700; which is 200 wpc) driving my RF 7 series speakers and my room is a little bit larger than your in terms of dimensions and SF and it would be insane for me to turn my system up "all the way". You would have to get a 400 or 500 wpc amp to notice even a slight difference (+3 db) in volume, and I dont think you would make it sound better. Have you had Dean G mod your crossovers? That would make them sound better. PM him for info on details and pricing, but many of us highly recommend him and the process. Good Luck!
  10. I have the Outlaw 7700 and love it. If Emo is selling a 185x7 amp for $699, I would say that sounds pretty good. Check the specs on it to make sure it actually delivers that much power at once to all channels. I recently upgarded from an Outlaw 990 to the Onkyo 886 and I am not regretting it. HDMI for all hookups (well, almost all) and the HD audio is very nice.
  11. I guess the best way word I could use is that it seemed to "open" the speakers up more. It made them sound cleaner, a little more alive (but not harsh). I have not seen nor heard on these forums of anyone not being happy with the results.
  12. I just posted this response on a similiar thread; "Send a PM to DeanG, he does crossover modifications. He did my RF7s and the RC7 for me about a year ago or so. Bob Crites might also do them, but DeanG did mine for me. You remove your crossover, send them to Dean, and he ships them back for you. Pretty simple. I love the sound with the modified croosovers. While not a HUGE difference, it is noticeable and enjoyable. Dean was super to work with; reasonable prices, FAST turnaround time, and a very reputable person. As far as prices are concerned, you will need to get a quote from Dean. If you can afford RF7s, I think the cost will not be a major concern. There is time involved, and also parts that he needs to buy." Dean, thanks again! I have not regretted the decision to have my crossovers modded.

  14. I have an Outlaw preamp and the 7700 amp (same as yours except I have the 7 channel model vs your 5. I have the RF7 line of speakers (RF7 with Dean G modded crossovers, a RC7 with a Dean G modded crossover, and a pair of RS7s. The Outlaw amp is amazing.
  15. I have it on Blu Ray as well, but I have not ben able to watch it at home from start to end. I never noticed the changes in aspect ratio. Iiwll have to look into that. I guess I was too "into it" watching th emovie to notice. I cant wait to have "Band of Brothers" party. I got the Blu Ray package for xmas and I have not watched it yet (on Blu Ray).
  16. I have a Sony KDS-XBR1 60 " with the factory stand, so i had to mount my RC7 on a TV stand above the TV. After several very accurate measurements, I have it so the bottom of th RC7 sits about 2 inches above the top of the TV. It works fine, but I would rather have been able to put the RC7 below the TV. I suppose mostly because for looks, as I have no idea if there is much of sound difference.
  17. I am conssidering getting a set of Custom 2s for working out with my ipod. When I excercise, I sweat a lot. How is the durability of the ear pieces with sweat? Or would Custom 1s be better?
  18. Amy, any info? I kick myself for not buying a pair back when they were marked WAY down a few months ago! Will Klipsch be doing something similiar in the near future?
  19. I could have sworn I saw that these were still available a few days ago. I have an original igroove, and now a relative wants one and so I looked them up and I thought they were available fro $99.00. Now all I see are the igrove SXTs available for $99 (reconditioned). Can anyone help me find the link for a refurbished igroove? Thanks!
  20. I had my two RF7s and my RC7 done a few months ago. It was a great investment, you will not be dissapointed.
  21. Another thing, My sub went out on me couple weeks ago, so right now I am running the RF7s to handle all frequencies. Even without the sub, these babies are poun-ding out the bass. Granted, I am giving them a lot of power from my Outlaw 200 wpc amp, but man do I love these speakers!
  22. I just received my updated crossovers from Dean G. I installed them, fired up my system and sat back and SMILED! I listened to a few CDs and watched Pirates of the Caribbean Blak Pearl on Blu Ray. I was very, very happy. The music is clearer, louder, with seemingly stronger bass, and sounds more detailed. If you ever wondered how could a great speaker (the RF7) sound better, this is how. If anyone is considering this upgrade, I give Dean "2 thumbs up"! Thanks again Dean
  23. I am about to buy a new HDTV in the bedoom. I already have a set of IW-250 left and right speakers installed in the wall. I want to add a center speaker without spending a lot of money. What would be a good match with that line? PS I am looking at a 42" Vizio 1080p LCD ($950) or a 40" Sony 720p LCD ($999)....
