  1. Congrats, Dr. Bill! Wonderful news indeed. The forum's slowed down cause it's summer, like you said, and people are heading out for more fun in the sun. I say good. Being cooped up in front of a computer can't be good for the eyes.
  2. Cool, thanks JMON. I submitted my request to join. Now, hopefully the moderator/owner let's me in. If not, I'll run away and cry.

Yes, James LaBrie is the weak link in the band... ---------------- I have to strongly disagree with you there, Joe. James LaBrie's voice is perfect for the style and delivery DT possesses. He can scream and totally rock-out with the best of them, yet can tug at your emotions with haunting, mellow, and bittersweet croons. ---------------- ...check out Muse's video Stockholm Syndrome. The lead guitarists solo is just awesome! He gets WAY into his music. His voice is a copy of Radiohead's lead singer Thom Yorke (which isnt a bad thing) and the band has a very prog-rock sound. ---------------- Muse happens to be my favorite band of all time. What's absolutely amazing is that the band consists of only THREE members, but that they can still pull off such incredibly complex, layered, textured music. The lead guitarist you're referring to is also the frontman, Matt Bellamy. In their first album "Showbiz," comparisons were definitely drawn to Radiohead's Yorke. However, if you listen to more of their music, the comparison previously drawn by critics (and you) is not true. Not at all. Not in a million years. His voice is NOT a copy of Yorke's by any stretch of the imagination. It was only once believed to be so because of their affinity for occassional falcettos. I recommend you give their albums another listen. You might realize just how different (and in my opinion, better) Muse is than Radiohead. Don't get me wrong, Radiohead is my 2nd favorite band of all time. But Muse takes the cake by 10 miles.
  4. I'm in SoCal, but how do we join this group?
  5. As a general rule-of-thumb, I like to burn or download music at ONLY 320kbps.

  7. Wow! I am feverishly taking notes!!!
  8. I do, but only for the past 6 years. I lived in Hawaii for 6 years before that - junior high to high school. My family still lives there. In Manoa. We call it "M-Side" and throw up upside-down "W's." (Meaning "westside" from the generation of old-skool gangsta rap) No joke. Hey, there's only so much you can do on an island before you get bored.
  9. Wow, I wish I even KNEW what Klipsch sounded like with the exception of the entire Reference series, and only the Khorn.

I graduated from H.S. in the summer of 1984 just a few weeks later I was in boot camp for the Navy. 8 weeks later I was in training for my Navy job in Colorado. That album really was everywhere that summer, but myself and others in the depravation of boot camp must not have know the actual name of the song. One night in the Colorado barracks (dorm style rooms 3 people to a room) after probably a few barley-pops me and my two roommates were singing way off key and way too loud to that song on the radio. When it gets to the chorus and PANAMA one guy screams Canada, the other the correct Panama, and the third Wait On Love. We all cracked up and swore the other two were wrong... ---------------- Great story! I like the whole knockin back a few "barley-pops" thing. Painted a whole world in my head.
  13. haha you're posting this review up everywhere!

Its not humanly possible ---------------- AMEN! But if you recommend it, Mike - the same Mike who likes Nightwish - then I'll have to give it a try.
  15. Very interesting. Is this review from an audio publication?
  16. Damn, that's a pretty well-written review!
  17. Oooh, Steve's pic is fantastic. Fantastic demonstration of the Rule of Thirds.
  18. Steve, Paul, Dee, thanks a lot for the help. I've read on cityseach that most nightlife spots in Buckhead close at 3AM? Is this true? That's a whole hour later than LA! It doesn't sound like much, I know, but it does make a difference. Dante's Down the Hatch sounds like a definite hit-up for me...
  19. Ahh, so we're only talking about recording fidelity, and not musical content. That makes a HUGE difference. Although I must say though, DT's recording fidelity is about as good as a CD can get. Any "cleaner" and it would be shrill. Strident.
  20. I think it really does come down to what genres of music you listen to. The Khorns are legendary, but I too prefer the sound of RF7's to Khorns. And I'm NOT saying that because I own RF7's. I truly believe the RF7's are better for all incarnations and off-shoots of modern rock.
  21. I'm heading down to Atlanta, GA next week for an entire week with my family to visit my older brother, who's just started his residency (doing general surgery) at Emory Hospital. My family and I will be staying at the Embassy Suites down in Buckhead, supposedly the "heart of the city." Anyway, since my family and little sister will most likely be passing out by 10pm-ish, I'm wondering what there is to do in town? I'll be there for an entire week, and sleeping at 10pm is simply out of the question. I'm looking for suggestions on bars, nightclubs, jazz clubs, restaurants, and even family stuff like the cool malls, sights, or amusement parks (if any?). Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've never been to any other state in the U.S. besides Cali, Hawaii, and Nevada (Vegas, of course). Being down in the deep south, I won't know my left from my right from my left.
