  1. I say do the Pepsi challenge with the two speakers and what difference you can hear. My experience has been that over time your ear will become more picky at any rate. I have the RC-35, it already seems as though it is the bare minumum that I could get away with. I have also heard many people say very positive things about the RX-35 system.
  2. You should always get the best you can afford. I know what you mean about feeling puny though, there are a lot of people here with some awesome gear.

Maybe its your system ! I'm half kidding. I've only heard Klipschorns a couple times, and they do seem to bring out the flaws in recordings more than any other speakers I've ever heard.
  4. I don't see many people mention Aragon in the home theater forum. I was starting to think they must not be that great.
  5. I just pulled the trigger (or pushed the submit button really) on the 20-39, hopefully it ships right away! I hate waiting!
  6. I have the 325 as well, sounds real nice. After a couple more upgrades I'll be using it as a pre/pro for a B&K or aragon amp. Also, I don't know much about them but ATI has amps in the price range you are looking at. Someone told me they are B&Ks "middle of the road" brand but I cannot verify that.
  7. I assume you want two more surround speakers? The replacement for that line is the RS-35, I believe they are "similar" but "better" than the RX-3 II line. Of course, if you are ever planning upgrades in the future, why not go for the RS-7s instead?
  8. Looking at their site in more detail, I see that I need to do some measuring, those things are freaking huge! My living room is going to look like the speaker demo room at some retailer.
  9. Furthur research has shown that mounting RS-7s in my plaster walls is a no go. Plan B, I'm getting bookshelves to put them on. My Harman Kardon manuals claim that the surround left/right should be at least 2 feet higher than the listener's ear. That would mean I need 6 ft high or so bookshelves. Right now I have my speakers pretty much at ear level and it sounds fine. Commnets?

I have a brief review on my site here: http://www.damononline.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=5 Overall I liked it and will most likey watch it again soon.
  11. I was thinking of getting a used Velodyne cht-150 from a member of this forum. We've been having problems finding a time that will work for both of us. This has given me pause. He wants $400-$450 for it. I was looking here http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pci_16-46.htm at an SVS sub that looks pretty impressive for $649. Which way should I go? I'm thinking for only $300 more I should get the SVS?

I just bought the "special edition" T1 and I thought the sound wasn't so bad. I mean, the music and everything was crappy 80s techno but I thought it was mixed rather well. Got a second opinion and they agreed.
  13. Here is the answer, enjoy: http://www.amasci.com/miscon/speed.html
  14. Electric current travels at the speed of light or close to it right Even if there was a noticable difference the AVR 525 has the EzSet feature, so it can calculate the proper delays no matter what using the microphone/SPL in the remote.
  15. You are not likely to find an e-tailer that is authorized to sell Klipsch, so you're going to lose the warrantly. Caveat Emptor: http://www.reliableaudiovideo.com
  16. Do you know the model numbers? I assume RS-"something" ?
  17. Very cool site I found, you can keep track of your DVD collection. http://www.dvdaficionado.com
  18. Elec fireplaces are worthless but they look nice. Well, its not worthless now, its an oversized brick subwoofer cabinet.
  19. I would say rather than reproducing a live concert, "good" sound faithfully reproduces what is on the input source (ie DVD) as accurately as possible.
  20. Hello all. I am thinking of buying a velodyne sub from packattack this week. Subs are great in corners but I was thinking of taking it further. I have a faux fireplace in my room with an "electric log" that you plug in and it looks like coals. If it will fit, I was thinking of putting the sub back in there. Is this going to sound good or all weird and echo-y ?
  21. I guess I've seen too many nicer systems!
  22. Its not much but here you go: Click here
  23. RC-7 was like $549, and like I said the Aragon 2007 amp was $1800. Unfortunately I still need a sub right away and a new washer/dryer so I didn't pull the trigger.
  24. They are clearing out and having sales on some good stuff at Flanners: RC-7, RS-7s. They also have an Aragon 2007 Amp, floor model, for $1800 !! I'm very tempted...
  25. Are you talking about the layer-change pause? 1.7 seconds is pretty standard on regular DVD players for that.
