  1. Max, Sounds great. I have the same Audigy 2 ZX card. I thought the software that comes with it is complely fragmented and difficult to use. One thing I never tried was any recording. But now it sounds like I should. What exactly is the name of the software to use. Also, did you try taking the 96/24 .wav files of say Tracy Chapman and burn them onto a CD? I can see why they wouldn't go onto a DVD, wrong format. But they should go onto a CD and retain the 96/24. Thanks
  2. Someone PLEASE purchase that thing. Congrats to whoever winds up with it.
  3. I didn't see any Klipsch products on any of the stages but I have to admit I wasn't that close for most of the acts. If you ever get a chance to see the Doors (of the 21st Century), my God DO IT. The whole weekend was awesome. Many top acts. But the Doors.... Check out MusicMidtown.com. Interesting yearly event to check out if you like live music. Look at who was there. We saw them all. Anyhow, this is what Mark1101 and Kim look like when not working. Sorry if this screws up, it is from the Ford website. They were taking pictures of everyone. 28505.zip
  4. I can see that KHorn as an awesome center channel standing in a corner with a big screen TV in front of it and the horns projecting just over the top of the TV. Whoa! Good luck whoever gets that beauty.
  5. Are those Shinall's in the corners?
  6. By the way. Thanks for taking the time to show this work. I was following it, and like to see what gets done in these rebuilds.
  7. Well... I don't smell any smoke. Did it work OK? What are Sonicaps? How do these sound compared to Auricaps? Thanks
  8. Some nice looking Belles on Ebay right now.
  9. Andy, I have a 2001 Kawasaki ZRX 1200. Before that I had a 1981 KZ-1000 and kept it for 20 years. Before that I had a 1973 Harley Sportster. It eventually shook itself apart as you mentioned, and I was just a kid and couldn't afford to fix it right way back then. Once I got into the Kaws, I became content. However, now, I wouldn't mind one of them vibrating hogs at all.
  10. Good comment. The Heritage series ARE somewhat like what Harley Davidson has created. A fine and adequate product all on its own. However, it is also a platform that lends itself to modification and personalization. The cool part of the Heritage series is having the authenticity and originality as a starting point. For me, stock has always been fine. I have enjoyed all of the authentic pairs of Heritage speakers I have owned over the years, and the unknown history but assured enjoyment each pair has brought to me as a successive owner. Mr. Shinall sounds like a talented craftsman who can deliver an authentic clone that represents a huge $$ savings for a nice appearance. However, the lack of PWK authenticity may play a role to some who might rather have an older pair and a piece of history.
  11. By the way Andy, nice job. Excellent report. SOunds like Mr. Shinall is a respectable craftsman. I'll bet his work is very well done.
  12. Sounds like it might be an idea to contract Mr. Shinall to build a set of exact Khorn cabinets, while collecting the rest of the parts off ebay and from this forum. Then, assemble at home. It sounds like Mr. Shinall could obviously make an exact replica if required.
  13. So are you saying these are the big boys toys? I really don't know that's why I'm asking this stuff. Has anyone heard these things yet? Are these Klipsch drivers on bigger lenses? Is that the deal?
  14. What effect does that short throw lens really have? I don't know for sure, but the spec sheet says maximum 30 ft. of throw. I'm thinking you will still hear it just fine at say 32ft. But it won't have the personality of real Klipsch speakers. Ever listen to a LaScala at say 50 yds? or 100yds? Outdoors? What that little tweeter can really do at those distances is nothing short of amazing. Does anyone know the maximum throw spec on a Klipsch tweeter? Those lenses look cool, but I question the performance. Maybe they are not trying to achieve the Klipsch sound. That might be the case.
  15. Craig, Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of the game, but I see all those original Ceracaps in there. I'm interested in what replacement capacitors were selected for that 296 ? Thanks
  16. The most interesting thing to me is their model that is sort of a KLF 30 double woofer/sort of cornwall bottom, and KHorn top section. Now that sounds interesting. The rest sounds like a small time craftsman garage shop. They might come out great but they are not the real thing.
  17. Smilin', Sorry to hear this. Your family is in my prayers.
  18. Gary, There is another VERY nice pair, ('89s I believe), in Virginia. Maybe closer and a better shot for you. Almost the same stain color. 3 days left on them and no BIN, @$630 right now.
  19. Got my copy (CD) this week. Reminds me of the Dinosaur Barbecue my old stompin' grounds up in Syracuse before I moved south. Better than most of Aerosmith's CDs with respect to fidelity. Sounds best on my Las / 222 system. Highly recommended.
  20. Can you gain access to the breaker box for the area in question? If so, you could systematically determine the circuit, if any that is causing the problem. Maybe then, you can narrow down who is running what electrical item that is causing the problem. I would try to figure out what the source is before trying to devise a solution. Good luck.
  21. One important fact pointed out is the "one bid increment". The bid increment changes as the prices go up. Ebay has the increment list info buried somwhere on the site. I always keep a printed sheet in my drawer and refer to it to make sure I am aware of the correct bid increments based on the bid level I am going to enter. Then I go some odd amount between bid increments to gain that odd number advantage as mentioned above here.
  22. Just kidding Gary, I know you have an awesome system there. The MK-IIIs look pretty sweet.
  23. Doesn't look like a stain to me, but a shadow of the upper part of the woofer area of the motorboard from some overhead lighting or reflection of the flash. Probably nothing.
  24. I have a Sony HT in a box setup (5.1) that I use for TV. My equipment listed below is for dedicated audio listening. I have had great luck and it has been a neat listening experience using the HT for all the TV and DVD and VHS listening. It is very configurable and sounds respectable. The Klipsch systems I have absolutely blow it away, but what else would you expect? I also have my DVD player plugged into my Scott 299 system. This way I can choose to use the 2 CH. system if I want. Like for the concert DVDs that might sound better in 2 Ch. The HT in 2 Ch. mode is basically useless. But I would not get rid of the HT. Another type of listening experience that we enjoy very much. Good thread.
