  1. and oh another thing, the govt owns social security and medicare and see how splendid that is going, comrade. Just like every nation we have leveled and then rebuilt to be a better one yet just let them take all their stuff back. If one is going to get into a war, they should be taking some spoils....but I think our main agenda is to just keep that machine going. The money is good.
  2. $250 is a good deal. Placement ideally is based on what gets it lined up with your listening position. I have mine on top of my set angled down a bit. I sit high on the couch though.
  3. IMHO the bipartisan system we have is outdated. It may have worked well when our population was very centralized in a few major cities...but now it's just a machine that keeps old ideas moving forward. People's money is the most absolute sacred thing in our world. We use online banking, credit cards, etc. All electronic and all absolutely tied to a person, tie in biometrics and you should be sure of who is casting the vote. Since there is also far too much to vote on manually, things are bundled together. This works great for lobbying....get a unpopular item on a popular ticket and just don't focus on it. Get people to vote for the 'good' issue. I say we open up the voting electronically and everything is single issue. You vote on an item or not. Heck even keep a running tab so people know if their vote may matter. People worry about someone buying votes...it happens rarely as the amount of money it would take to generate enough movement to be influential just isn't going to happen. No more electoral college, popular vote takes the power...
  4. well the news is out now....73 that don't even work for AIG anymore + were in the very areas that led to the crushing losses AIG suffered recieved 1 million dollars or more out of this bonus pool. One can defend this all they want, but at the end of the day it just keeps pushing our dollar down.
  5. They can walk then...good luck finding an equal position in this economy. There should be no reason a company needs a bailout if it's performing. It's it's not then bonuses are usually the first thing to go. The last 3 years we recieved no bonuses. This year our matching 401K contribution was pulled. We are a top 10 homebuilder. We are doing what's right for our company and not going to the government. Commissions are still paid.
  6. IRT the bonus talk above...the way them not getting a bonus and it's affect on ME is that's $167 million less cash they needed, the cost to figure and distribute that, etc. You can't say since 3.7 billion was wasted in one place, $167 million in another is ok. This is how all this stuff has been fluffed up to handing out billions at a time. It's time we really look at costs and expenses and the write offs that go with them.
  7. While I agree the government should not tell any non-government subsidized company what they can pay...as soon as someone needs a handout from them they should be able to dictate some terms. Commissions are one thing and really separate from bonuses, people seem to have them confused. I say bailout should then have pay scale to government rates. We cannot afford this junk with no compromises anymore.
  8. it's apples to oranges. Many newer homes don't have the room nor decor to support the heritage line (nor the WAF).... The reference series fits into modern decor and modern opinion. I love my Quartets and Academy though, I had a full Rotel/Definitive/Marantz setup ..BP20, CLR1000, BP10's. The klipsch just sounds more real.
  9. The bad part is all this money getting pumped into the economy is just making our dollar worth less. Also for those that didn't need a bailout, it makes their stuff worth less...whether it's a business, home or assets. Many are painting this picture and telling sob stories so they can get their hands on some of that cash.
  10. I agree and to add, most people are more likely to give a bad review than a good one.
  11. That's why I started off my post with 'not really ideal'... [] It sounds really good though, the 'sound spray' technology I think is more forgiving for something like this. I don't think it'd scale well to music, but I go 2 channel for that...multi-channel audio doesn't sound right to me.
  12. Not really..to the right front is a built in desk/wall unit and to the right rear is a bar (which can roll outside, but there is really no other place to put it. I can't really lower the speakers due to my cats which will try to jump to them...the woofers are 7' dead center, they are about 4' about my ear level on our couch. I still want to raise my quartets about 1-2'. The rear effects are pretty good though, things that 'move' tend to do so pretty seemlessly. I want to run through AVIA and my Autosound 2000 CD's, but the dude that has them has not contacted me back yet...long story.
  13. It's looking more and more that the SUB-12 will be a better deal then trying to build something at what I want to accomplish (2 single subs / 2 cubic feet or so enclosures).
  14. As mentioned above, Outlaw rates it's stuff fully utilized whereas almost all others rate as a single/pair of channels driven. As far as HDMI goes it depends if you really need video switching or not.
  15. I'd say the Quartets would be the best match, followed by fortes or academys. I don't think the Forte I was the best match to the academy though. You may want to move the Fortes to the rear and upgrade your mains. I currently have Quartets and an Academy up front and RS-25's for surrounds due to no where to put floor standing or enough room something bigger. I had to compromise for mostly my room layout and then WAF a bit + a bit of being realistic on the impact it'd have on the room. I can't complain though...if I did listen at reference level I am sure the RS-25's would not be able to keep up...I am also sure as surrounds they'd probably not be really disappointing...just a bit soft. If I could do any setup for 5 channel surround sound (not counting subs) I'd have in order: 4 quartets, academy Chorus II up front and my Quartets in the rear with an Academy all Chorus II's
  16. For a bedroom on a budget you probably can video switching on the receiver. Budget and what stuff?
  17. It's not ideal, but I think it's alot better than if I stuck them both directly behind the couch. Excuse the walls (yes you can see missing trim and some spackling), I am in the process of prepping to repaint and re-trim the mirror, doorway and kitchen pass-through then paint. The total room size is 16x22, the back wall is the 22'. I picked these up for a very fair price from emb-2009 on ebay...he has a lot of Klipsch gear he is liquidating (old dealer equipment). The RS-25's while not new in box only took a quick rinse of the grills to be no less then like new out of box. Even then my wife thought I was crazy to rinse them off as the dust marks were so minor.
  18. I have been shipping tons of stuff for decades and UPS is by far the leading cause of shipping damage even though I try to avoid them. FedEx has damaged a couple items and took responsibility quickly. Even when I have had UPS pack the item they have contested it as 'improperly packaged'. I have had double boxes torn off, 6"+ obvious kick thoughs and bootprint stomps on boxes. It's got to be in the culture there to abuse heavy and expensive looking items. I had great luck with DHL too and they were cheapest by far, but they are no longer doing this. I will say the path your packages take greatly determines your experience. Shipping UPS from here to Mesa, AZ almost 75% resulted in a claim having to be made.
  19. I figured Klipsch would rate the same way across the board. That +/- 3dB covers a lot of range though
  20. how should I do it? tape measure and enter it manually? The locations are pretty much set now I had to keep them close to the ceiling or my cats would jump on top of them like everything else in the house As soon as I get my Avia and Audio test cds back from whoever borrowed them I will test more critically by ear.
  21. I like the URC company's remotes. Also keep in mind if you have RF you'd like to control it takes a special remote. I see many people with there ceiling fan remotes still on their tables yet they have a universal remote. If they'd just have gotten the right model they'd be down to one.
  22. Mounted them on the side walls. The Yamaha handled the time delay just fine and it sounds great. Found out during the setup that my wife must have jacked up some settings in the audio menus. Everything is sounding excellent again and I have rear effects now with the RS-25's.
  23. I have seen the HGS series sell for $1000 and more esp the 18". These are excellent subs at any price.
  24. Well my lowend is back somehow my wife set NIGHT MODE and jacked up a couple other settings... Problem is she can't take the LFE. She didn't want to watch Hulk even with the LFE off. She was ok with Puss in Boots though I set her up with a NIGHT button so she can turn this on and off herself without getting into the audio setup. Just setup my RS-25's and they sound pretty good, + WAF factor is huge.
  25. and at $200 you practically stole it Glad it worked out.
