  1. Where do you find a RW-12 for $500.00. The MSRP in $650. I paid $450 for the RW-10 and $600 for the RW-12.

    SW-12 II

If you are using speaker level input and then going to your mains and like you said the power light is on and the fuse is good..I would say the amp is gone. Sorry
  3. Here is my two cents.. Any Lord of the Rings. Gladiator Ice Age...Yes but It visually perfect. Starwars I & II Santan..(if dealers play this on their Plasmas and Kruell showrooms you know its good). and Eagles "HFO"

    RW-12

I audition the RW-10, RW-12 and the RSW 10 and RSW12. Im sure everyone agrees that in the dealers showrooms are no place to realy try any speakers out. So with that the RSW's were not taken home for a try out. However, they sounded a little cleaner then the RW line. I did take home the RW-10 and RW-12. First my room is about 20'x 20' and is open on two sides with 10' ceilings. With out a doubt the 12" fit the bill. I have said this in other threads but were the RW-10 was reaching it's limits the 12" just started to get moving. I noticed a marked improvement in shear impact in the RW-12. it doesn't hurt that the 12 has 300 whatt amp over the 200 with the 10. Playing the same DVD's you could really feel the 12" over the 10". Hope this helps but you just need to try them out in your setup. Reference dealers will let you trade/upgrade speakers within a month.
  5. For every 1' of screen size idealy you should be sitting 3' back from the TV. So for for a 36" TV the setting position will be 9'. It's more of a guidiline but seems to work fairly well. I will concede that this is not as applicable with High-Definition or Progressive Scan DVD since there picture is so much sharper.
  6. STL, great advice...however when I upgraded last year my reciever I wanted to place my current KV-1 in back and upgrade the center. After contacting Klipsch they recommended the RC-3II. I realize they were going to push their current lineup however It seem to blend fairly well. I don't know if you have the same experience after listening to the RF line up. But the KG series floorstanding are awesome.
  7. Thanks for the info..I have been courious about that. I have been thinking about placing my RC3II in the rear and buying the RC7 for the center. I was concerned about the difference between the RC7 and my mains KG 4.5. I am interested in replacing my KG 0.5 surround with either the RS35 or RB 25 first.

I had considered getting back into vinyl, but to get to a evel that would actually satisfy me -- I would have to sell off my firstborn. I recently purchased four sets of a very old favorite of mine off of eBay. I'm in the process of restoring these vintage Original Advent Loudspeakers for a basement HT system. Right now I'm doing the cabinets, and when I'm finished with that, I'll be rebuilding the crossovers with premium parts. I will probably DIY the sub from Parts Express. So, by the end of winter I will be shopping for a new television and HT receiver. I may buy another CD player for my two-channel system, and move my Sony 9000es downstairs to source the HT system. I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts on this as well. I'm stressed over the television thing. I pretty much only like direct view. Ha! I like tubes, what did you expect? There are also some space limitations, and chances are I will be forced to go with 36". I know very little about HT because I started losing track of HT technology about 4 years ago. I'm interested in televisions in the $1000 to $1500 range. I'm also interested in DVD players IF they can provide a better picture than my 9000es for $500. I need to know what I need, to do HDTV, or if I can even do it with the money I'm willing to spend. I want to understand the difference between 1080i and that other wierd thing I can never remember. I'm curious about line doublers, and interlacers (is that what they are). My receiver will probably end up being a used B&K. Varied opinions would be appreciated. Senseless rambling and babbling are fine too. ---------------- Use the 3:1 rule on screen size. If most or half of your viewing is Sat or Cable..go for the 4:3. If mostly DVD's Wide Screen formatt thou should go. I wouldn't worry about HDTV at this time. If you like Direct View TV don't pass up the 40" from Sony. You should be able to get one for under $2,500. If you go widescreen..i would go with either a projector of plasma. The Direct View widescreens are are not big enough unless you have a small room and sit 6' away from it.

    the 2 towers

Awesome Movie...One of the Best Movies Ever. I do agree that the Surround effects are not like the Fellowship.
  10. Personally, I would begin with the Display (HD ready or LCD proj.)next a progressive dvd, then the receiver. After that I would buy the center and front mains together. Next the surrounds and finally the subwoofer. Just my opinion.
  11. If anyone is interested the price I paid for the RW-10 was $449.95 and for the RW-12 $599.99. Not the greatest of deals but they were so new it's about as low as I could get them.
  12. Ear, I have had a chance to test both the RW-10 and RW-12. I originally bought the 10" because the RW-12 were not available at the time. After the 12" came out I returned the the 10" for the 12". First let me say I was upgrading from an SW-8II that was not intended for DD/DTS HT use. While the RW-10 sounded ok it felt as if not producing the volume of bass I was expecting. I agree with you, I was suprised on the size and weight of the RW-10. It was lighter and smaller the the SW model it replaced. After returning and picking up the 12" the two cannot be farther apart. The Size is larger and heavier. The bass produced is noticable deeper. Where it seemed the 10" was reaching it's limit the 12" is just geting started. I said this before in other threads but for anyone considering the RW line try the 12" you won't be dissapointed.
  13. Grand, If your main listening is Movies I feel you are missing out. Even though you main's are large enough to handle most low frequencies, most movie sound tracks go down to 25 htz. In addition the sub's internal amp adds the punch without having to turn the volume on the main to high. You did'nt say what your space limitations are? but the RW-8,RW-10 & 12 should fit into most areas and since they are front firing they can be placed into cabinets. The RW-10 is not a bad sub but I would go for the 12" model. Go and Sin no more.

    RW-12

The RW-12 subs were shipped beginning Aug. 4th. The 8" and 10" were out mid July. If you are looking into getting the RW subs go for the 12. The RW-10 cannot compete. I finally gave the RW-12 a work out this weekend, It's more than enough for most room sizes.

    RW-12

Just picked one up...Originally purchased a RW-10 but kept thinking more is better, traded it in for the 12. From one night the 12 packs a punch over the RW-10. This weekend I will really try it out.
  16. I cannot imagine the RW will be sold with the Synergy line. I belive Klipsch started the RW line to pair it up with the new RF-15..25..35 speakers. The RSW subs will still be paired up with the RF-5..7. Therefore, under my weird logic the KSW will still exist.
  17. It's my understanding that Best Buy will carry only the Synergy Line and will not be a Reference Dealer.
  18. I throw my two cents in on a couple of the questions. As far a receiver's go...If you are in the $700-$1,00 Denton, Yamaha, Intergra, H/K make great receivers. Its personal choice. I have always hade problems with companys that make "regular" models along with "high end" i.e Intergra/Onkio, Sony/ES even cars. As far a to Monster.. Why not?
  19. More people will say Coaxial over Optical.
  20. I agree with everyone that the best match would be the KV series. But if you are set on purchasing a a new Klipsch go for the RC series.

    DD vs. DTS

Wanted to get evryone's opinion. If given the choice between Dolby Digital or DTS on a DVD which one do you choose.
  22. Extended Warranties are a big waste of money.
  23. Sri R, If it were me i would use another RC-3II for the rear since it sounds like you will be using one speaker. I don;t think Klipsch shows a recommendation for the rear "center".
  24. Not a Bad Movie...About like the first two. Sound effects were decent... The Crain scene was awesome.
  25. Fuzman, I had the same delima, however, I had a KV-1 center channel that I placed in the rear and bought a RC-3II for the front center channel. The KV-1,2 or 3 would be your best bet in my opinion. If you cannot find a used one I would suggest you get the RC-3II. Good Luck
