  6. Richard Long the noted audio designer who would later create the sound system for Larry Levans "Paradise Garage." Having a large loft space allowed Mancuso to purchase two pairs of Klipschorn ® loudspeakers in 1966-67. The three-way horn loaded speakers were huge units that needed to be placed in a corner and had a frequency response of 33hz-17khz. The Klipschorn's ® are known for their efficiency and ability to play clearly at loud levels. These were mated to a McIntosh amp and pre-amp and two AR (Acoustic Research) turntables. In the beginning there was no mixer so Mancuso merely switched turntables by using the "phono 1" and "phono 2" switch on the McIntosh preamplifier. Later he rigged two Shure phono preamps with a level control to fade between them. This eventually gave way to a custom built mixer around 1973. Apparently long overlays were never part of the equation as the mixer merely served as a means to segue from one record to the other or allow Mancuso to stitch together two copies of the same song to create a longer version. Dr Who, pro audio is being used by DJs here in the Midwest we run some really impressive systems. Now if we are talking about mobile DJ weekend warriors on a budget I agree crap in crap out [] same with Clubs done on the cheap!!!

  10. BMX here is a little article that may interest you ,http://www.discomusic.com/people-more/49_0_11_0_M77. I came about this article on the web a few years back while doing some reasearch on Club Sound Systems, and has been my blue print for my mobile DJ business ever since , regards Tony C
  11. DJK..the Tapco amps are Mackie/Tapco, basically Mackie in different clothing and cost affordable.Tapco Corporation is Greg Mackie`s first Company from back in the 60`s .How do they stand up to amps costing more : Crown etc etc ..very well indeed, powerful and tough ,and they can play cranked all day .I personally never listened to Behringer amps, some Djs that I work with have them and they are not so happy with them once they listen to the Tapco amps I have.Just to give you and idea of the clear sound I have with the Tapco/EV set up..I get compliments all night about how crystal clear the sound is compared to other local night spots, one Dj at my last event was attending not spinning and was upset all night cause he wasn`t performing and his words were :the sound is off the chain ,bit@h I aint playing . The sound is hard to describe it`s an experience ...Tony C
  12. Welcome back Colter , I missed your Klipsch History and Reaserch posts......best wishes Tony C
  13. I will be attending the AK 2006 , had a good time last year .. My AK s/n is Hallwalk3r
  14. Kenratboy, I use a Behringer 2 way stereo with subwoofer out ,on the subwoofer output to the CV I set the output at 100 hz and fine tune them with a parametric Eq .The Top and bottom EV I set the crossover point around 250 hz and rough cut the whole sound rig with a stereo 31 band Eq. I have a gig on March the 24 th and will have more opportunity to hear the rig at its fullest and be able to evaluate and make adjustments accordingly.Kenratboy thank you for your interest and if you are in my neighbourhood on the 24th you are invited to Techno & Tacos, and yes new carpet is being installed mid spring. regards Tony C
  15. So I went with EV two way 15" woofer tops and 18" EV bottoms and the CV for deep low register bass
