  1. I love threads like this!!! Here are a few pictures of my amp (Face Audio F500TS).
  2. Thank you so very much falcon20x for the pictures. They are awesome!!! I'm going to archive those.
  3. As soon as I get home I will do that. I know what you mean, I have always wanted to know how they were build but never dared to take one a part. Thank you very much. I appreciate it[]
  4. falcon20x: I know this sounds like an odd request, but before you seal the speaker back up, would you mind taking a few shots of the interior of the cabinet and the back of the motorboard with the three drivers? Your first two shots are very good. I have always been curious as to what the interior of the RF-7s look like. I recently acquired a pair, and I have not had the space to open the boxes, place them, and listen to them. I am dying to though. Anyhoo, I really hope you find a solution. From the looks of it, perhaps a generous bead of good wood glue around the entire motorboard would do the trick. I am not sure if it would be wood to wood contact though.
  5. I found the thread with the pictures of the compression driver, but I was really curious if anyone had any good pictures of the 10" woofers and crossover of the RF-7. I am interested in pictures of the back (magnet and basket) of the woofers. Also pictures of the stock crossover would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks:)
  6. Believe me, if I could afford an RSW-15, I would buy one in a heartbeat. It's THE most beautiful sub I have ever seen. I have two RB-5II's, and I LOVE them. The problem is, I do not have the cash to buy an RSW-15. However, I love hearing people talk about them.
  7. Now THAT is customer service. The wait is killing me!!!
  8. You are evil, 007 C'mon January....
  9. 007, I strongly implore you to go to www.headfi.org. The people there will tell you EXACTLY what you need. I LOVE it there. It's an absolute gold mine of info on headphones. Just a word of caution: their motto is "sorry about your wallet", so keep an eye on the credit card As for me, I have an HD-590 and I love it. It is not as loved over there, but they are true headphone nuts. If you do decide on getting either an HD-580, HD-600, or HD-650, they REQUIRE an amp. A really good starter amp is called a Gilmore Lite. Unamped Senns, I would recommend either the HD-590 or new HD-595. The 595 is a little hard to get due to a factory fire at Senn but they are just now coming back in stock. Some things to think about. Definitely go over to headfi.org and run it past them though; you will be blown away at all the choices
  10. Awesome pictures, 007!!! You are killing me, as I have to wait
  11. 007, awesome!!! Would you mind posting pics for all to see? I am so psyched to get this thing after Christmas!!!
  12. LOL. My GF (soon to be) sometimes gets on my case about speakers, but I tell her that I could be into cars or partying. She is very tolerant, but she does not understand why I drool over speakers so much. Oh well, at least she likes some Opeth songs, THAT'S saying a lot
  13. Thanks!! I have a Yamaha, which I think is a quality reciever. It is not bright at all and I have RB-5II's.
  14. Yeah the gasket is foam, but under the specific details of the particular driver under the "Parts/Accessories" tab, it is mentioned that the surround is foam. The surround is the circular ring around the cone, that is usually foam or rubber. You probably knew that, since I remember you around the board, but I was just making sure we are on the right page. I know, I am anal, but I really like to keep my stuff for a long time BTW, 007, spill the beans about your new toy when you get it. I am particualrly interested about the packing container, and overall quality of construction. I am pretty sure that the sound will blow away anything in it's price range. I really want to get mine just after Christmas.
  15. I have heard that foam surrounds on drivers are inferior to rubber, as the rubber ones will last longer. I want to get the PB1-ISD and I plan on keeping it for a very long time, because it will be plenty big enough for the size of my room. Unfortunately, the specifications of the driver being used in the PB1-ISD say that the surround is of "tough compressed foam". I am concerned about the longevity of the driver. Can anyone give me any information about this, or does anyone have the PB1-ISD? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. IMO, Black Sabbath is the greatest rock band of all time. They have it all, meaningful songs, great guitar riff that are as infectious as the plague, pounding drums, punchy bass, great shows, and a hell of a lead singer. Ozzy may not be as nimble as Mick or have the vocals as Roger or Robert, but he has raw emotion that I cannot sense in the rest. He also gives his all ibn every show, even though it doesn't look like much anymore, but when he was younger, he floored them all. Besides, Sabbath is the only band besides The Stones that are still really around today playing live. All you have to do is listen to their "Reunion" album and ask if any "greatest bands of all time" can still do that after 30 years of rocking. I'd say you can count them on one hand. Tony Iommi is also THE most underrated guitarist of all time. Hell, Sabbath are headlining this year's OzzFest. All hail Sabbath
  17. I have a pair of RB-5II's, they can raise the dead in my 10' x 10' room. Since they are discontinued (try ebay), the RB-75's would be your best bet, IMO. You just cannot do better than Klipsch bookshelves for the price.
  18. Ok, so I have a pair of RB-5II's, and I want to make sure that the surrounds will not degrade over time. They appear to be rubber, so you are saying that turtle wax is better? Doesn't turtle wax dry hard or something? I would have assumed that mink oil would have been better since it is for protecting leather.
  19. Har Har people I will try online to see if there was anything. I was just wondering if there was a preferred trype/brand above all....
  20. Does anyone know where to get some good quality mink oil for my speakers' surrounds?
  21. I am using a miniplug Y-splitter from my soundcard to another miniplug that goes into my Promedia, and the other goes into another Y-splitter that changes into two RCA plugs that goes into my reciever.
  22. I think I got it. If I were to play say a 10 khz tone, a current will only be sent through the wire hooked up to the tweeter, and if I play a 40 hz tone, a current will only be sent through the wire hooked up to the woofer. Now from what you guys have said, doing this is safe and will have no effect on sound quality, albeit a waste of time and space. Hehe, I bought the wire and hooked it up before I asked the initial question, I just wanted to reaffirm my assumptions. If I am wrong on anything, tell me, otherwise thank you all for helping me and your great patience and knowledge is greatly appreciated. PS. Y-splitters used as analogue interconnects have no impact on sound quality or volume, correct?
