  1. It's only the radiator that is facing the wall. As long as you have the active driver facing outward, and the passive driver far enough away so that it's not hiting the wall when it punches, you should be fine with very little distortion. Just get it as far from the wall as is needed for the safety of the sub(or your wall for that matter). I would also consult the owners manual. It should have a suggestion.
  2. -------------------------- Just thought of two more. While they may not be to everyone's taste, the movies actually do fantastic job of showing off your system. Very audio dynamic movies in my opinion.... Moulin Rouge Chicago Especially Moulin Rouge. Lots of great full bodied sound in that movie. Even if you don't like the movie, it's a good rent just to hear how well your system sounds. --------------------------- hmmmmm. I like you description. "full bodied" really describes moulin rouge and chicago well.
  3. Do you have a fiber optic cable running from your xbox to your receiver? Is your xbox your main dvd player? All xbox games are broadcast in Dolby Digital. Since your games have static, but the dts dvds don't, that makes me wonder if it might be something screwed up in the receiver. (somehow the DD decoder is screwed up) a bad connection in the DD circuit. I honestly don't know, just an idea I had while reading your post. Hope you get it fixed.
  4. -------------------- matrix reloaded chapter 3, its like 2 minutes and gives your system a great workout, especially the end when NEO takes off, i registered like 121db @ 1m on that part. -------------------- I'd just like to second this. The scene with all the melee' weapons and the part where they line up and unload a wall of lead at neo. Great detail with the guns' action noises.
  5. What are the components of the system you are planning on connecting the RW12 to? It should mix with any system. I have the RW12 and LOVE it. You will hear a huge improvement over the 180 some watt sub you had previously.
  6. I just finished watching the Italian Job. (DD) The detail of my systme was great. Nice clean sound throughout.
  7. I've been looking for a fairly cheap center speaker to upgrade my 5.1 system (see below) to 6.1 and was considering the RCX but was a little worried about the comparative power ratings of my other speakers, and the rms rating of the RCX. Does anyone have any input on how th RCX would perform with the rest of my setup?
  8. GET XBOX HANDS DOWN! PS2 has nothing on the box

    XBOX

aka it will play NTSC and PAL encoded dvd's
  10. yeah, it was built by the forerunner. Has anyonge goetten Halo for xbox setup online? It's pretty fun. m00n... I've played the PC version, and love all of the extra multiplayer levels it has, but you loose the team feeling on PC.
  11. I have RF15's with RW12 sub and RC-25 and to me, they sound great together. I'd thought about getting the RC35 just so I could get the larger horn, but in the end, I found the price of the RC25 more appealing than the increase in quality of the RC35. The RC25 matches very well and I would highly recomend this match.
  12. They should sit just fine. I have my speakers mounted, but a friend of mine bought some omnimount stands that look great and are about 4.5 ft. tall. They have spikes that go into the carpet and a nice clamp that holds your speaker in possition. No rattling off there!Check out this link. http://www.omnimount.com/product.asp?p=23
  13. I own the RW12 and demoed both the 10 and 12 while trying to decide on which to get. There is definately a performance increase in the 12 over the 10. I wouldn't even consider the 8. If possible, go for the 12, if not take the 10.
  14. I completely agree with nicholtl. I am not trying to attack your opinion on the crossover setting. I am only saying that THX is no longer owned by the man (George Lucas) who set up the original guidelines. There are still guidelines, but far more products than just the THX certified ones carry those specifications, they just don't pay for the THX logo.(which is why klipsch speakers aren't certified I'm told.) The crossover setting just comes down to how well YOUR setup performs. If all of your surround speakers, (not just your mains) perform well at 80hz, then great, set the crossover to 80, but for me, only the RF15's sound great down to 80hz, the center and surrounds just start to get a little blobby (is that an understandable term?) Although THX recomends 80hz, 100hz crossover gives my system much better performance. So my point is that although it is THX recomended, that doesn't make it universally the best option. -Jeff ps.- I got my RW12 today and love it! (time to update the sig. )
  15. If you need a suggestion for a woofer, I beleive one of these "world's largest radio telescopes" might fit the bill. Perhaps?
  16. THX recomends the crossover at 80hz. for full THX setups (THX certification of dvd player, receiver, interconnects, speaker cable, and speakers) If you don't have a fully THX certified setup, then the 80hz. recomendation doesn't necessarily apply. On a side note, one of my previous posts in the home theater section questioned the pros of THX certification. Apparently THX is no longer owned by george lucas, and no longer makes standards for their certification. Certified products pay a certain amount per sale to receive THX certification, so apparently, "THX Certified" means nothing except that the certified product is paying for that lable (not necessarily performing for it)
  17. So then you're saying that having the crossover at 80hz works, not only for the RF15's but for the center and surrounds too? I don't think my center sounds very clean with the crossover at 80, but maybe you have a setting for large, medium, and small speakers with your receiver and two crossovers for small and medium sized speakers.
  18. ------------ What ever you do don't let the 15's have the entire sound range, I switched them to large once and damn near cracked them. I now fully understand the term clipping! ------------ I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "almost cracked them." I had them set to large since I got the system because I didn't have a sub and the owners manual said that they could be set to large. Also, I've never heard the term "clipping" What is it, and should I be worried having been using the rf15's at large for a month or so?
  19. Hey, BTW, if I place a heavey board under the sub, will I get any better output. (I have a carpeted floor) I'm thinking it might increase the flow of air a little with the ported design of the RW-12. Any thoughts?
  20. Gamecube.... oooooohhh, don't get me started there. At least you've picked up an XBOX. I admire you listing your cables in your sig too! I like your mains, but how do your surrounds keep up?
  21. I understand exactly what your saying. I have my x over set at 100hz now and my RF15's set to large, just until I get the sub.(15's will then be set to small.) So 100hz. works. Thanks for the help and input. In responding to your compliment of my system for my age I thank you, but would also like to point out that most 16 year olds I know,(friends) spend all their time and energy on car systems. I honestly don't see the point, so I spend it on home theater. -Jeff
  22. Nicholtl... so you're saying that the rw12 responds well up to 100hz, and that works for you? The RF15's go to 46hz, but when they get down low and are trying to reproduce the mids with clarity, the lows get boomy and distorted. (without a sub) I'm not sure how putting the cut off at 80hz and adding a sub would effect that, I was just told that 1 octave above the bottom of your mains is best and for the 15's the closest is 100hz on my receiver. Groovie... I noticed that you had the CA-5T's outdoor in zone 2. How do you like them? Been looking at getting some for the back yard. Not sure if I'll go klipsch or something else.
  23. Groovie... You set your crossover at 80hz? I heard that your supposed to put the x over at 1 octave above the bottom of your mains (which would make it about 94hz.) I was planning on setting my x over at 100hz. but was wondering if I wanted the sub responding that high. How does it sound with the x over at 80 with the RF15's? Nicholtl... It helps to have a father who understands klipsch. (cornwall owner) And yes, I too only had an "all in one table top" until I heard the klipsch RF7 7.1 system at the local audio shop with the RSW15. 2 Years and a few ebay sales later, and I had enough money to buy the RF15 system. Now comes the sub.
  24. I've been seriously considering getting the RW12. Don't want to get any smaller than that. I can get it for $500. It would be used in a 16 by 14 room (a little larger if you count the bar area) Is the RW12 gonna be enough to shake, rattle, and otherwise roll the room, or will I need more?
  25. I am a poor high school student who was just able to afford the RF-15 system with RW12 sub and a denon 1804 receiver. While shopping around, I began to wonder what exactly THX certification involves. What gets receivers like the flagship denons and yamahas certified? just curious. -Jeff
