You should read about power compression. You only need one good amp, and 200 wpc should be plenty with that sensitivity rating. How much you willing to spend?

Some people like them and some people don't. The people that don't generally keep quiet about it because they don't want to get beat up about it. Some like them at first and then a week later notice that they are hearing "too much tweeter". I do like that they are not insanely expensive and that mod can easily be reversed.

I get a lot of these type questions now and have to dig into the archives because I'm real weak on the drivers. If I had all of curves for all of these different drivers in different enclosures, I could make somewhat educated guesses. Anyway, opinions are all over the map on this one. I mean, yes, you can use a K-33 in it's place, but there will obviously be differences. If it's on the Speaker Exchange page, I'm going to guess Klipsch is approving this substitution. K-28 is approved by Klipsch for use in the Heresy. Yes, it has a 4 ohm voice coil, so there is a 2dB bump through part of its response. “JEM caps” are tight spec metallized polyesters made for Klipsch by Tecate Industries. “Crites caps” are Sonicaps, distributed by Soniccraft. Yes, I’ve read through that before. It’s interesting. The first test is between three similarly spec’d capacitors. It simply shows if you stay within the same dielectric family, differences (measurable and audible) are minuscule. Two of the caps were polypropylene, the third was polycarbonate - a cap I have no personal experience with. Second test was between an unknown polyester and some electrolytics. He concludes: “If you replace capacitors, especially electrolytic capacitors, with film capacitors in the crossover, without checking with an LCR meter, you will most likely notice a change in sound. However, 99% of the change in sound is only due to the different capacitances caused by the capacitor tolerances and not because the film or high-end capacitor "sounds better".’” I sometimes think the quality of the test equipment often exceeds the skills of the person performing the tests. At any rate, regardless of the reason(s), an audible difference is “likely”. @captainbeefheart

I think it’s okay to perform preventative maintenance on things or replacing them when nearing end-of-life. Never quite understood the idea of waiting for something to fail if you know it probably needs attention.

I would not use any oil or waxed based product on any current production Klipsch loudspeaker. A wipe down with a soft lightly damped cloth is all you need.

The Klipschorn and Belle use the same drivers, and there is very little difference between the midrange horns and networks. Non-Klipsch approved mods are no longer discussed here. You will probably have better luck on another message board.

Randy's main point is they can't be "clones" if they are using completely different parts, and you certainly can't use the same network. "The KLF is said to have gone from drawing board to production within about a 9 month span, which is quite short." K-52 and K-79 were already on hand, so all they had to do was model the box and network.

I think maybe transistors sound better when not paired up. I've had great luck with SS integrateds with 80 wpc or less. There was one exception for me - Luxman.
