  1. dial up ?!?! whats that?!? j/k[]
  2. Ask your dealer if he has any RS-42's you could demo. They are probably the closest to the 35 that you may find. http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rs-42.aspx
  3. bandwidth is not really an option for me, im on a 7.5meg down/768k up its smoking fast
  4. monster cable? no its some generic brand, 100ft for 14$ cant beat that. Its already small on my screen, sorry about that though []
  5. Chances are nothing will come with the receiver. You will need to purchase the cables required to connect the receiver to the TV. If you are using HDMI or DVI or component, make sure you do have those cables to connect the receiver to the tv. The xbox and ps2 should have cables that came with the consoles to connect to the receiver. Chances are for the HD box from comcast it will connect to the TV via component for video and digital optical cable for sound ( I believe that is how most are connected.) This may be how it works in your case: http://erms.samsungelectronics.com/customer/common/images/namo/2004/10/09/HDTVCableBoxHookup2.jpg Everything depends on what receiver and how you want to connect the consoles and other components to it. As for movie demo's, the most i've seen thus far have been, Incredible Hulk: The scene where hes running from the helocopter through the canyon. House of Flying Daggers: The scene with the beads and the drums. According to a publishing site: http://www.samspublishing.com/articles/article.asp?p=420289&seqNum=6&rl=1 from that site you can navigate to best overall picture in color, b&w, overall sound, etc. Or you could just load up any DVD with a DTS intro, those are always fun
  6. if your tv/dvd takes HDMI/DVI definately go for the Yamaha.
  7. Well if your DVD player does have HDMI capability you could just plug that into your receiver. As for the xbox 360 use the component and it has a little end where you could place an optical digital cable for sound. Im sure PS2 is can be connected close to the same way the xbox360 is. Actually I think ps2 has an optical connection right on the unit itself ( not too sure considering I do not have either console) I think it was a good buy. They are going for about that much +50$ shipping on ebay. Enjoy!
  8. Set it up in your place and listen to them. Only you can be the judge of that. At least you can change the gain of the sub to match the quints to your liking. Really, only you can be the judge of that. I think that It would be a good match.
  9. I know that there is a lot of markup involved. I told him told one of the Magnolia reps that. I also saw him speaking to some other guy stating that these were the cheapest that the company would allow them to sell them for. (Which I didn't buy) The whole point of my post was to say that some of the Reference line out at the Magnolia HT in select Best Buys.
  10. You would have to go with the next best thing, component. If your DVD player has HDMI, it has to have component. Use component then some type of digital out, Optical or Coaxial. Your receiver has 3 component inputs, 4 digital optical and 2 digital coaxial inputs. Optical or coaxial choice is pretty much opinionated. I've used both with my dvd player. But I stuck with coaxial. They sound pretty much identical. Unfortunately your receiver does not have the capability of HDMI or DVI so your stuck with component. Hopefully this is of some help.
  11. Since you do work at best buy, you should also know that in some stores, they do have the Magnolia Home Audio stores inside of them. There is one by my house in Toledo and they actually carry some of the Klipsch Reference line. They only carry the RF-82, RF-62, RC-62, RS-42, RB-51, and the subwoofers RW-12D and RW-10D. Not bad, but their cost is exactly what the prices are on Klipsch.com. Hopefully an independant dealer can bring those costs down a bit.
  12. I couldn't see why it wouldnt work. I just unscrew the base from my speakers and bought a 4" angle bracket from home depot. its a L shape 4" on each side with 2 holes on each side. I just use drywall anchors and screw them into the wall, and just use the klipsch speaker screw to screw the speaker to the angle bracket. less than 3$ for 2 of em.
  13. Damn that would have been a great deal.
  14. A tv thats 4kp would probably cost well over $100,000. I can remember when the first generation plasmas came out, they were about $50k
  15. I had purchased 75ft of S-Video from pccables.com nearly 3 years ago and they were perfect for hooking up my computer to my tv when I used to watch divx rips off of it. I doubt that there will be a significant picture quality difference between these and others.
  16. if you do wish to do this and do not have an external digital decoder such as the creative DTS or the Klipsch 5.1 Digital Decoder, than you can also just use your computer's DVD rom drive and sound card to play the movie. Place the speakers you have around the desired TV and run video out from the graphics card to the TV. If you do not wish to do this then you possibly may just use a DVD player and run the optical in from the sound card to the optical out on the DVD player and connect the cables from the DVDplayer to the TV as you normally would. I agree with all the above saying that the ProMedia's are not really meant for an HT system, but I actually use them myself until I upgrade. I have the Klipsch digital decoder connected to the 5.1 ProMedia Originals. They have served me great for a beginners HT setup. I can see why you would wish to use these, I spent 400$ on my set of ProMedias and I'd be damned If I had no more use for them Hopefully this is of some help. -Eric
  17. haha i know, i just can get a massive discount on them through a friend. So its like barely any money difference at all between the 2 wires. I was just wondering if there was any truth behind the monster cable brand having a more pure copper. I know when building a computer it is always best to go with a thermal paste that has a highest percentage of pure silver compound because it will conduct heat a whole lot better.
  18. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ shows your upload speeds and download speeds over a longer period of time, its more reliable than the other tests shown above
  19. And if Blue-Ray is the way to go, why not just purchase the PS3, if it can truely play Blue-Ray discs, at 600-750 for a game system that can do the same thing, its well worth it. But it looks that if you purchase a Blue-Ray DVD player though sony: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_BrowseCatalog-Start?CategoryName=hav_bluraydiscsub&Dept=tvvideo 1000$. WOW! Pay 250-400 less and get a BlueRay player that also plays games.
  20. So whats the answer? Power Surge Protector or Monster Power Conditioner?
  21. Probably 1.21 gigawatts, just the right amount of energy needed to charge the Flux Capacitor... LOL
  22. You should of let me know about a week ago. On Slickdeals.net They had the Logitech E-Harmony 880 Remote on sale, 120$ coupon from Paypal off Dell and 10$ Paypal coupon off Dell and a 50$ MIR. Dell Home has Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote for $249 - $120 coupon P5BV189GX7Q820 - 10 coupon X10DHMT?VL6NBS when you pay with Paypal= $119. There is also a $50 rebate available, which should work as well making the final price $69. Cheapest on PriceGrabber is $156. Thanks rtalber1 and Wammer Expired 11:59 PM CT 4/6/2006
  23. Thanks all, Now on along the lines of power. Should I just go with a normal decent Surgeprotector or should I fall into the lines of purchasing a power conditioner I can get this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7179983&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat72100050012&id=1110267219710 for about 300$. Would this be a worthy investment?
