  1. They will last upwards of 30 years. Meaning they will be half the brightness of new in 30 years barring any surge damage misuse etc. etc. Of course you have to be careful not to do things that will create screen burn in.
  2. Thanks for the info... Now I know why I have gone all these years without even hooking my stock antenna up to my receivers and HT. I suppose I will just stick with boom boxes and my garage system for radio. It probably wouldn't hurt anything but I have issues with running distorted signals into my HT. Thanks
  3. HTIB are entry level into the Home Theater arena. I would suggest trying the Klipsch quintets and either a sub-10 or sub-12 from Klipsch and buying yourself a middle of the road receiver. You could get all of the above for around $1100 and it would be a huge improvement. Welcome to the forum!

The slim has a 20db amp and the edge has a 36db amp. I am not trying to pull in stations far away I'm simply trying to get better reception on my local channels. Thanks

  6. I didn't know if the guys over in 2 channel would respond to my post. This is what I wrote over there... First off I have never been the least bit interested in blo$e however a friend of a friend was telling me this evening that he had a pair of bo$e speakers for sale. I assumed that he had a set of the micro cubes and I was not at all interested. He then told me they were classic and that they were 501's. I went over to his house and listened to them and thought that they sounded all right. They turned out to be 601's series III. Anyway he wants $100 bucks for them and I asked if he would take less and he said yes. The cabinets are in good condition as are the grill and components. Anyone have any experience with these speakers or think these would be good to pickup for another secondary system or just to resell? Opinions wanted Thanks

For me it's a matter of economics...if I'm not home or I'm asleep, the computer/audio components are turned off. I'm on a strict budget, and cannot afford the luxury of paying exceedingly high electric bills (especially during the summer months here in Florida when the air conditioning is on almost non-stop), just to keep everything powered up to save on the lifespan of the electrical circuits in my equipment. Plus with all the frequent and horrific thunderstorms we have here in "lightning alley", I'm not going to take the chance on having my components fried due to lightning strikes (even with my line conditioner/surge protector, during a thunderstorm my gear's unplugged from the wall outlet)! Call me paranoid. Just my two cents worth... ---------------- I am the same as you when it comes to unplugging anything and everything worthwhile in my house before/during a storm. Several years ago my receiver, at the time, met its untimely death due to an oncoming storm. We heard a crack and what looked like a spark across the screen of my TV. Within a second or two smoke started rolling out of my receiver. I learned my lesson the hard way. Luckily nothing else I owned at the time was damaged and I still have the TV. I was lucky to have purchased the receiver from Brandsmart in Florida. The warranty they offered at that time covered electrical surges. I guess you could say I didnt really learn the hard way because I ended up upgrading my receiver. If I leave my house for the majority of the day and I see that T-storms are possible I unplug it all. Whenever I go on vacation I do the same. Even if I am home but going to bed and there is a chance of storms I unplug it all. "Call me paranoid" BTW I had surge suppression gear equipped with a trip switch connected to everything and the switch did not trip.
  9. Just a couple questions... Doesn't SVS offer a 45 day return policy? How did you decide on this particular unit? I'm looking at upgrading to this one or the CS-ultra or the PB12+2. Thanks
  10. I guess for the time being that is what I will do. I understand that the C7 is a fairly good center channel and I do like it I just wanted to get something that would match the rest of my system sonically. I have also entertained the idea of picking up a pair or two of KLF-20's or KLF-30's and using my existing system for different rooms or selling it all together. I have seen quite a few KLF-20's and 30's for sale but for that kind of money I would rather get myself into a RF-7 system! I think that I have the same disease as most everyone here...The Fatal UPGRADE bug and it doesn't ever go away. I have only had my SVS 20-39PC+ for over a month and I'm already scheming how and when to upgrade. I was not only trying to match my system but I figured if I could get a descent center channel I could sell my C7 and my SVS and buy a PC CS Ultra or PB12+2! I really like my sub but I don't think I could ever get enough BASS! I'm pretty happy with my system overall but I figure if I can upgrade any part of it or the whole thing for almost no money out of pocket, why not? Anyway thanks for the input and I'll fart around with one of the 1.5's and see what I think...if nothing else I'll be able to find a spot for them somewhere in the house.
  11. Well CRAP! Thanks for the input guys... Now I don't know what to do. I don't think that one of these speakers will make me happy. Especially because I would be stepping down from my KLF-C7. I guess the only thing I can do besides scraping this idea is just try one and see what I think. I'm glad I posted this here first because I didn't put any thought into ohm load and I wouldn't want to damage my receiver. Thanks again and any other input would be appreciated.
  12. I recently bought a pair of KG 1.5's and I was going to use them as rear surrounds. I am impressed with the sound from these little speakers and I was thinking about completing/matching my system with a KG line center or another that would match. Has anyone tried using two speakers for a center channel before? Would there be any problems with spitting the signal between two speakers? Anything else I should know? I realize I could set up a 6.1 system, one for center and one for rear but because of my room size and layout I think I will just stick with 5.1 for now. Opinions wanted
  13. Sounds to me that you have already decided to go with 2805. I have the 3802 and the 2400 but I haven't looked to see how closely these two match up with the two you are looking at. I love both of my receivers. Obviously if I had the dough I would go separates and in the near future I'm sure I will. Sounds like this is your plan as well. If you buy a nice receiver like either of those you will be able to use it for a pre/pro down the road. That is probably what I will do when I initially go separates.
  14. Its all a matter of opinion and I may be alone saying this but I like the look of the RF-3's, RF-5's and RF-7's much more than the RF-35's. I don't like the look of the drivers on the RF-35's without the black cone in the middle.
  15. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3275&item=5746540508&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW He is selling his RSW-12, Denon 3805, and Polks because his wife bought him a blo$e system. ... "I changed to a blo$e whole house system (Christmas present from my wife) I hope I like it half as much as I liked my Denon/Polk LSi System because I will love it." (Quote edited for accuracy) I don't see how he could possibly think that his new system could come close...oh well.
  16. Which 20-39 are you looking at? I had a KSW-15 and liked it for years but wanted something else. I purchased my 20-39PC+ and I LOVE IT! It is an all around great sub.
  17. Actually now that I think about it... You said you are a newbie therefore I am assuming you have not yet had a Home Theater. If this is the case you cannot simply START OUT at the very best. You have to start at the bottom and work your way up like the rest of us to really have an appreciation for the amazing speakers you are looking to buy. Because I am such a nice guy, what I am willing to do FOR YOU is this: You tell me who is selling these speakers, we each pitch in $1500 and you give me an additional $1500 for my system. I will take delivery of the above mentioned system and I will deliver my setup to you FREE OF CHARGE! This way you can start out with an okay beginners system and really form an appreciation for the flagship gear. After a year or so, I will give you the option of purchasing MY outstanding RF-7 system for a mere $1500 and I will pick-up my old gear and deliver your new system to you FREE OF CHARGE! If this deal sounds as appealing to you as it does to me, just drop me a line anytime day or night!
  18. I just read your other post... 3K for (4) RF-7's (1) RC-7 and (1) RSW-15? ... If they are in good shape I'm assuming the reason you logged off was because you realized what an awesome deal that is and went to pick them up! (2) RF-7's good price new - $1500 (1) RC-7 good price new - $550 (1) RSW-15 good price new - $1200 Roughly $4750 not to mention shipping charges. Of course you may not get a warranty with the above prices. They me be from online retailers but I don't think Klipsch transfers warranties anyway (I may be wrong about this). Disclaimer: I AM NO EXPERT AND I ONLY WISH I HAD THESE SPEAKERS. If they are in good shape I would not hesitate to buy them at that price.
  19. Are you just making a blind offer or does the person/place your buying from have some sort of price they are asking? Have you seen these speakers do you know the person personally?
  20. Bump Anyone have any input on this?
  21. There are a few B-stock items up @ SVS. 16-46PC + for $50.00 off.
  22. Must have been the blo$e! BTW congrats on your first picture fall that is always a special moment. Its nice when are finally able to listen to music/movies the way YOU want!
  23. Well I don't have anything to offer in answer form but it sure seems there are too many RSW problems lately. As someone else posted in another RSW-15 problem thread who knows what percentage of total owners are having these problems but it seems to me it is too many. Hopefully Klipsch can get this problem fixed and fixed quickly.
