I love that all over body tickle you get when they whap the throttle on a nitro motor & ur standing ~10 feet away! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've cranked my sys up for some friends and they bail when the Yammy gets to -20 ... I've made it to -6 ... so far peace, mitch

As a temporary measure, you can use Elmer's glue and thin paper like smoking paper to reinforce the crack from both sides, but the real solution is to have the driver reconed or replaced. ---------------- I had a similar problem with a composite material cone woofer on a 3-way I used to use. It was about 1" or so tear & I used silicone rubber gel (from Radio Shaft) and spread it very thinly over the tear. It works great as the gel is still slihtly pliable when it's dry and I cranked 'em pretty high with no rattle from the cone. Dunno if it would work the same for paper cones.
  5. Most any weekend is OK with me as long as I'm not too busy with the summer concert/festival season in full swing. If y'all decide on the 2nd weekend in June remember that even though the F1 race isn't until the next weekend many people come in beginning the weekend b4 the race itself. Trey, you might need to check room availabity @ the hotels/motels near the College Park area b4 u set a date. July? 1st weekend is out for most I'd guess. L8-July or August?!? Sure, just don't forget your towels and coool suits. It ain't the heat .. it's the stupidity ... errrr ummmm humidity. Whenever it happens I hope to c u all.

The answer is yes. At this time we have no dates or plans other than the tour of the Indy offices. We will have rooms set up so you can hear some of the new products we have going. (Yes John, we can do the wire test again…) We can run some test in the chambers and other “geeky” stuff like that. We are open to suggestions, but what we get to do will depend on how many sign up to come. One thing is for sure; we will have a good time. It has been a real blast for me to put a face to the name and voice. I have made some good friends and hope to make more. So, visit amongst yourselves and lets work out a date ….I will start it out saying sometime after school is out for the summer. ---------------- Count me in too! I found tooo l8 last yeat I definitely wanna makeit. Heck I'm less than 2 miles from youz guyz. Plz LMK when!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace, mitch

Any other sub brands I should consider in the same class as the RW-12? Thanks! ---------------- The RW-12 is one bad *** sub and being front fire/ported it makes your placement options better. What mains do you have? U might not need the 12 .... a 10 might do depending on what suze ur room is. peace, mitch
  8. Here's my 'flabby Tabby' ... Marble. She's a Swaybellied Domestic Shorthair Silver Tabby. 11 yrs, 15lbs. Queen of the Apt complex. peace, mitch
  9. This is what i've heard from a reputable source. The Ref Premier line will have mains (as in pic), centers, surrounds & sub all in the curved wood finish look (not sure if more than cherry will be available) with intro prices near or below the *current* R?-7 models. Street date: early '05 ... my only comment on the look would be to do the black plastic pieces in brushed alumimum or stainless or use a lighter/darker contrasting wood veneer finish if the pieces could be mde from MDF/wood. Hmmmmmm ... Cherry w/ White Oak? Light Ash w/ Mahogany? Cherry w/ Tiger Teak?. Fun to dream! peace, mitch
  10. Nice score on those RF3IIs & I thought getting mine for $600 for the pair was great! The RS3IIs & RC-25 are a good match for the RF3IIs ... if/when you go for a sub you'll probly wanna look @ the RW-10 or RW-12 or RSW-12 depending on your room size, listening tastes & budget. The RF3IIs will loosen up very nicely, as another person noted, with each listening. I let mine run for ~36 hours at normal music level & *personally* they sounded better to me than out of the box. BTW, r u running 12ga wire with gold plugs? I prefer banana pins. YMMV. peace, mitch

Dont anybody on here have any other bills or what? Here i am with my SF-3's and KSW-12 trying to get into surround. need a new reciever and sur speakers and it's killing me. House payment, car payment, kids with their hands out oh and the wife well she has her own ideas....! Oh well just venting my envey! Maybe one day i'll hit the lottery!!!! ---------------- Patience and look for specials/sales. I got kinda lucky on my current setup. My apt got broken into and they took my old Sony receiver + other components. With the insurance $$$ (I highly recommend renter insurance ) I bought a Sony DE485 for $10 more than the settlement amt & I wanted to replace/upgrade my behemoth 3-way Fishers so I made a few recon trips to my local Ovation. I kept an open mind on which speakers to buy but was a bit partial to Klipsch due to their support of a local independent musician here in Indy ( Jennie DeVoe ) who is really good and I've been lucky to become friends with too. So, back to the ramblings ... my timing was perfect 'cuz Ovation was clearancing their Synergy's b4 BB became the outlet for them. $250 got me a pair of SF1s but I really wanted the RF3IIs. Again Lady Luck stepped in less than 3 months later ... I got a call from my Ovation salesman LMK that the RF3IIs were being clearanced. WoooHooooo. Using Ovation's trade-in/trade-up offer, I boxed up the SF1s & off to the store I went. Since the 5s & 7s are outta my price range I gave the 15s & 35s a listen (as wellas *other* brands) but my ears told me to get the 3IIs. The were also blowing out Yamaha HTR5550s @ 1/2 price + 10% ... hmmmmmm, Sony or Yamaha? Well, I got the Yammi, sold the Sony for $125 and now I'm a Klipsch-aholics! Going to the Ovation warehouse sale tomorrow to look for a sub or CD Jukebox or DVD or ???????> Did I mention the 42" Flat Plasma Display I won in a fill out our form type drawing (no entry fee) deal. I gotta pay about $170 total in income taxes (Fed, state & county) ... but it's a freakin' 42" Plasma!!!!!!!!! Enuff from me. Peace, JDB_Rocks
  12. I have a ? regarding bi-wiring. Is there a difference in sound in biwiring between the following ways? Both would be single termination to the receiver (Yamaha HTR-5550) &, of course, dual termed @ speaker. All terminations would be gold bananas of the screw on (re-usable) type using Monster wire/cable. This is just for my 2 channel setup for mainly listening to music on RF-3IIs that'll be upgraded to 35s (maybe even 5s or 7s if I can afford them). 1. Running the same gauge (either 10 or 12) wiring to both the LF & HF posts. 2. Running thicker wire to the LFs & smaller wire to the HFs. Please advise both pros/cons and if 2 is better which wire for LF & HF. Thanks. peace, mitch

But for $100 more I could get the RF-35s, RC-35, and RB-35s. What setup is better? ---------------- I don'tknow if the dealer has a listening room in order to listen to them first as I believe that hearing is believing, especially with high-end audio, so if you can.... let your ears decide which you like best. There are subtle differences between the Rx3s & 35s and everybody's ears will hear each setup differently. Personally, I'd go for the Rx-35s if it's only $100 more. I'm not knocking th Rx-3 series but i've listened (quite extensively) to both setups @ my local Ovation store & had I been given the choice between my RF-3IIs & a pair of RF-35s for $100 more ... I'd have 35s right now! My RF-3IIs have served me more than adequately especially after I sold my Sony DE485 & got a Yamaha HTR-5550. Everyone that's heard them have been very impressed by their clarity, sound separation and distortion free sound even when cranked to -10 on the Yammi. Next up is to get a set of custom cables made so I can bi-wire them (not bi-amping) then when the 3IIs are paid off I'm going to trade-in/up to a pair of 35s. Best of luck & happy Holidays.
