  1. Hi guys, So if one was to swap out their K77's for the 2404H's what has to be done xover wise? Just curious. This may be a mod I'd want to try. Thx, hoggy
  2. Just be very careful the volume is not very loud. That tweeter can hurt you in a heartbeat. hoggy
  3. I was wondering if the dimensions he stated were a typo. hoggy
  4. I took some SPL readings in my listening room. It takes about 30 to 35 watts to get my khorns to 100db's at 8 feet from them. Of course this may be off quite a bit as It is taken "C" weighted and not knowing specific freq's the bass may bring it to a higher DB. How does one accurately measure the true SPL using a common meter such as the RS type? Or is this even possible? BTW a 100 DB measured this way is very loud or so it seems to me. No way is someone going to get 121 DBs with 50 watts as far as I can tell unless you stick your ear facing the speaker up close. hoggy
  5. I use 10 meter long cobalt speaker cables and I'm satified with them. I replaced original Monster cable with them and have nothing else to compare them with so others may be able to shed more light on comparisons. hoggy
  6. I know a person can hear a big differnce between a $600 TT and a $6000 but when it starts getting up in the 10s of $1000 dollar ranges I doubt a human could. Maybe the nieghbors cat can though. So maybe the rich buy these for their pets enjoyment. After all my cat bolts for the door everytime I turn my stereo on her ears a twitching. hoggy
  7. artto, Go to www.extremephono.com and pick yourself up one of their donut mats for your LP12. You'll be surprised at the difference in sound (at least I hope you will) it makes. I am very happy with this replacement for the stock felt mat. hoggy
  8. SoundBroker, I for one find it very interseting. I always wondered but never searched to find out about these monsters. Thanks for the info. hoggy
  9. Not in the mood to re-finance my house at this time. Maybe later, hoggy
  10. I enjoyed your post very much HDBR. hoggy
  11. Cleve, You are probably right in the fact I'm a sick, sick man plus right in the fact I probably do NOT need a sub, especially one this good. I'd been ok if it were'nt for this darn (joking) forum. I love this forum and really like many here. I was perfectly happy with my Belles and 150 wps Tandberg. I could have improved that system to where I think I'd like to be if I'd bought one of these subs 1st. Just never thought of it. I picked up the McIntosh amp before finding this forum and I bought it because I found a good deal on it. I have a buddy for many many years who's system is all McIntosh and have always been impressed with his amp (MC2300 300 wps). When I got the MC 352 it made a tremendous differnce to the sound of my Belles especially in the low and upper bass. I didn't know sqaut about tubes (and still don't really) but had I found this forum 1st I'd probably gone with tube gear. As it is I'm glad I didn't (I like this amp that much). The really great thing about this amp is it sounds great at hi or low volumes. It has the same rateing whether 250 milliwatts or 350 watts of .005THD or intermodulation distortion. I can play my music at any volume without degrading the sound. When the canons go off in the Telarc 1812 LP it uses ever watt and that with the other music @2o-25 watts so there is a need for a high powered amp under some circumstances even if you listen at moderate levels. I believe the sub will come in very handy to take some strain off the Khorns during this type of listening. I have never been sorry that I made the move to the MC352 and believe I'll be even more happy with this sub even if I rarely use it. I'm 54 years old and want to aquire everything I need now before I retire. Hope to retire at 60 but being a sheet metal worker may have to go longer. Hope this enlightens you to the why. So whether I need it or not I'll have it if I do. I'm single and my children are grown now. The only thing I have to worry about now is the nieghbors calling the cops for the loud music (at times). hoggy edit: the Khorns go down to 35Hz. There is room for improvement.
  12. Thx for the info 007. hoggy
  13. McIntosh MC352. Lots of power (350WPS, THD .005 maximum @ any power level from 250 MILLIWATTS to rated power per channel from 20-20k. Intermodulation distortion .005 max if instantaneous peak output per channel does not exceed TWICE the rated output 20-20k) and for SS is closest to tube sounding from what I have been told. Think it's the autoformers but maybe others can answer better than I. Of course a lot of folks will argue no way SS can sound tube like. Either way I love this amp. hoggy
  14. Peaking 350 McIntosh watts on my khorns rarely but sometimes. The PB2+ would have been more than enough and the RW15 I could have gotten by with, but in my living room I wanted a nice wood finish. That was definately a influencing factor. I guess I should have mentioned that earlier so some of the RSW fans would understand a bit better my decision. There's not enough market for heritage stuff I guess for Klipsch to come out with a sub for us heritage owners, or maybe the costs is too great. Only Klipsch marketing knows for sure. hoggy
  15. I really don't know. I'm not planning on changing it anyway as I just play 1 or 2 games on my comp. I rarely use it for music etc. I did when I 1st got it but not anymore. It's proably the older one. The speakers just say Klipsch/THX if that help identify them. It doesn't matter much to me used with my comp. Now the sub with my 2 channel very much matters and I think I've made a good choice. I sure don't want this thread to turn into any kind of flame war. I am not trying to bash Klipsch at all. I'm starting to think I never should have posted. I love my Khorns and the Belles before them. I just wanted a better sub for them than Klipsch happens to make at this time. hoggy
  16. To be perfectly honest never owned a Klipsch sub to use with my Khorns. I do however have the promedia 5.1 system with my computer (which I'm really not impressed with). Of course there is no comparison to the Khorn. A friend of mine brought over his RSW 15 and we tried that out. That particular sub did NOT impress me with my Khorns. I liked them better without it. I see you own the RSW 15 but use it with a much differnt speaker so maybe it is good for you. Reading reviews and many users on this forum I decided to buy the SVS. There was one review in particular that made my mind up. If the SVS doesn't work for me I have 45 days to return it for a full refund. Of course I'd be out shipping. hoggy
  17. Well I decided to go all out. I canceled the PB2+ and went for the PB2 Ultra. Had a very long and nice talk with Ron Simpson who's one of the S's in SVS. Now for that long boreing wait to get it. I'll probably have to hire some kids to haul it up my stairs though. It's just too bad Klipsch can't match SVS's sub making. I have had heritage Klipsch for 28 years. Had '76 Belles I purchased new and traded them on this forum for my Khorns. Never any disrespect for Klipsch here. Just want the best sounding system I can afford. hoggy
  18. Try www.dogpile.com. Maybe find something there. hoggy
  19. Sorry thought about it and am not sure what they are worth. Until I find out I didn't want to screw (excuse French) someone over. hoggy
  20. What a hoot. Got to feel for this guy. Hmmm maybe I should start selling all the crap (excuse my language) I have lying around with adds like that. Think I'll watch this auction and see what he gets for it. hoggy
  21. Thanks formica and CAS, What I needed to hear. The Khorns actually take up less space than their size suggests. Had a pair of Belles before and they actually took up more space when in corners than the Khorn. And yes I am using the sub to take over where the Khorn leaves off so I doubt I would over drive it. Now for the 2 week wait on the delivery. I hate that part. hoggy
  22. I went ahead and ordered the PB2+. What does the Ear think. You mentioned the Ultra. The PB2+ was recommended by Erik @ SVS for my size room. formica said something about the PB2+ as getting by with less. I don't like the thought of "getting by" so am looking for some reassurance. I'd buy the Ultra if it's what I really need though. If it's not needed I don't want to "waste" money. As previously stated this is strictly 2 channel. Thx, hoggy
