  1. Oh man, it's The Beatles, White Album I think, I just can't come up with the title . . . more lyrics from memory, forgive me if they are not quite right For the benefit of Mr. Kite, there will be a show tonight on trampoline The Hendersons will all be there, (blah blah blah blah blah blah blah), what a scene!
  2. It's REM, "(It's the) End of the World as we Know It." Rap? Jeez, you guys are slipping. Drink some wheat grass or something. Everybody tryin' to tell me that you didn't mean me no good I've been tryin', Lord let me tell you, let me tell you I really did the best I could
  3. The Police, "Don't Stand so Close to Me." I tried to call you before, but I lost my nerve I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed
  4. LOL, you know, I'd love to have a table and some tubes, but my house is flat out of rooms. The next house will probably be somewhere besides California, so that means a finished basement is likely. I'll get tubes then. 30 over? The cop must have REALLY liked your car. My neighbor is a Highway Patrolman, and he says he once pulled a guy over going 130+ in one of the new, fast Mercedes coupes. The story he tells is that he gave the guy a good scare with impound threats and the like, and then let him go, saying if he had an $80,000 car he'd be doing the same thing. [] Speaking of gas prices, once I have no more car payments an old Mercedes 300D or TD may be in my future. 30 mpg in a car that routinely goes 400,000 miles before major repairs is looking pretty appealing. I almost sold the Cruiser just because of the mileage, but it does so many other things so well that I just couldn't let it go for what anyone was willing to pay for it. I'm kind of glad to hear that mine's not the only house where SWMBO doesn't let the Z out of her grips. At least I'm not alone. []
  5. Comfortably Numb, also from Pink Floyd's "The Wall." I've been getting some drive time with the Z, but not a whole lot. Just enough to make me want one of my own . . . this one is definitely "her" car. Yeah, I haven't been around here as much. I came to the realization that my home theater is done, so there isn't a whole lot for me to do there, and I won't be buying tubes or a turntable any time soon, and I've answered "What center channel for some Fortes?" about forty times now, so it's well-archived and there is little value in rep number forty-one. Basically, I've gone as far with this hobby as I'm going to in its current iteration, so there isn't much left for me to learn about it and there isn't much left for me to add to what I've already said about it. So, I spend most of my time over at ih8mud.com now. I've had a Land Cruiser for about three years now and in the last six months or so I've gotten really into working on it and being my own mechanic. I'm also planning some camping trips for the summer with it, some mods to make getting away from civilization safer and more fun, and just generally geeking around. Just like I did with computers and aquariums and audio, but now with a car. Usual stuff. Jump to the ground as the turbo slows to cross the borderline Run like the wind as excitement shivers up and down my spine
  6. Pink Floyd, "Wish You Were Here." Had to take off my headphones and interrupt BBC radio's Eno broadcast so my memory could play the Floyd tune. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/performanceon3/pip/uj3e5/ You better run all day and run all night and keep your guilty feelings deep inside
  7. Now that the weather is nice, you're entering into the slow time/low price time for selling speakers. You'll get a much better price for it during the winter.
  8. Jbart's stuff hits both sides equally, making it apolitical. Your post is just a cheap shot, and cheap shots are the reason political posts aren't allowed on this forum. It would be courteous to jbart if you were to delete your post before the mod yanks the whole thread.
  9. My risers were broken off in shipping and I've never used them. They still sound fine to me.
  10. I ran Quartets up front with an Academy center and Heresy surrounds for a time. It was pretty good. The front section was excellent. Try that, I think you'll find it's an improvement over what you're running now. Once you find another set of Quartets, or a set of Forte IIs or Chorus IIs, you'll be set.
  11. Another speaker that would do nicely for relatively small money is the Quartet. The downside is that puts you in the Chorus/Forte/Quartet/Academy track, and getting an Academy for a good price can be tough. If I were starting a home theater from scratch knowing all that I know now, I'd either go KGs or small Reference. Don't get me wrong, I love my setup, but it would be better in a room about three times as large as I have. For a small room I'd go smaller.
  12. I'd suggest giving the Academy an honest try -- a few days at least. While oldtimer is correct that it was designed for the Chorus II and not the original, mine was fine with original Fortes. If you want a bigger, badder center than the Academy, the next place to look is a single Forte or Chorus.
  13. Jackson Browne, "Doctor My Eyes." Jenny said when she was just five years old you know there's nothin' happenin' at all Every time she put on the radio there was nothin' goin' down at all Not at all
  14. Minor correction, the Academy is intended for use with the Chorus/Forte/Quartet family of speakers. There is no center channel per se for the Cornwall generation of Heritage speakers.
  15. Nice! I hope they do everything you want them to do. As for the other set, they've got huge sentimental value. I think I can't let those go, but if I see or hear of anything near us I'll shout at you. Crank up Rush's "Limelight" for me on those Heresys of yours. That was always their favorite song. :-)
  16. And I thought it was "we broke our mirrors." That's the great thing about Nirvana -- Kurt's saying whatever you want him to.
  17. Agreed. DIY on this scale is a false economy unless you've already got so much experience at it that it never even crosses your mind to go on the Klipsch forum and say "recommend me some speakers." The only thing that will work in your speakers' favor vs. the commercial products is Baranek's Law.
  18. Biko, from the same album. :-) Looking down on empty streets, all she can see are the dreams made solid are the dreams made real All of the buildings, all of the cars were once just a dream in somebody's head She pictures the broken glass, pictures the steam she pictures a soul with no leak at the seam
  19. Hey Charlie, hang in there, it gets better.
  20. Crowded House, "Don't Dream It's Over." Drawn across the plain-land to the place that is higher Drawn into the circle that dances 'round the fire We spit into our hands, and breathe across the palms Raising them up high, held open to the sun
  21. Afraid you'll end up keeping it?
  22. My vote is Heresys in the garage, like I have at home, and Quartets in the home theater, like I have at home.
