  1. Now I do not know if I have ever heard Khorns but from the looks of them they could really make some noise. So what is it like on the other side of that 4 inch wall where JR is eating? I hope you do not ever forget when that chair is occupied and turn up the volumn. HEHEHEHE
  2. Well, since no one else is going to respond I will. I am very new to all this so do not beat me up. I just purchased a pair of Heresy IIs off ebay for 350 delivered, I also just purchased a Pair of CWs, a Pair of Fortes and a KLF -C7 packaged for just a little above what you are asking for these four. I know we all want the most for what we have, ESPECIALLY if we bought it new. But Heresy's are ranging from 300 to an occassional 500 per pair on ebay. Post pics and sell seperate or you are reducing your market greatly. This is just MHO
  3. you have almost posted an average of 10 posts a day. I hope if this is a highschool health class that you are putting just as much effort into your grades as you are this forum. YES, YOU CAN TAKE A GUESS AS TO MY PROFESSION
  4. Because that is when I have been given the hall pass to purchase a concert DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I studied that thread a great deal... HMMMM?????????? which one should I get today? Well, S.O. has been in a bad mood so maybe I will get the James Taylor. Really want to get the Blue Man Group but I think that would upset more than the trinkets on top of the speakers.
  5. I just got my CWs and I guess they have built in risers, since they do not look like the picture but have another 2 inches or so of riser I guess. What does a spike do for you? My speakers are sitting on carpet which is on concrete slab.
  6. Yes, fini....I did appreciate it. There is alot of good wisdom in the minds of these here posters! Someone commented about money and that I do not have. I think the wife would kill me if I purchased any audio equipment. But I can work on it. I ask a question and then I see another post that has me asking more questions. But I do thank those who answered.
  7. I have a Pioneer RCV cannot remember the number but it handles 7.1 811S I think. I know amp means amplifier. Do I need one? what is a preamp, do we have to go through the pre amp before the amp. Aaaaaahhhh, I want the best sound I can get out of these speakers, so what do I do, or use. And what is going to be the sound diff.?
  8. Well, I was Klipsch poor two months ago and know I have a great setup that folks love. But, I want Khorns, but why do I want them? Because they make a statement, look good and sound good, but I want them. So why do you have or want yours??
  9. I have the wires ran for 7.1 but I use the Heresys in another room for a 2 channel set up and when we really want we move them into the HT and hook them up. I guess I should say this is my plan. I have not moved them yet and I have my rcv set up as 5.1. If I do hook them up and tell the RCV 7.1 am I always going to have to reset my RCV settings? I know I probably will and I can just try but come on I have to have someone to talk about this stuff cause the SO does not give a hoot. Also should I be worried about wires or plugs touching each other when not plugged into a jack?
  10. My Heresy's pull double duty. I usually have them in the family room for a 2 channel setup. But on Movie nights they are moved into the HT to serve as rear surround. Of course I always get the best seat in the house.
  11. Well, tonight's concerts were The Eagles - HFO and Fleetwood Mac - The Dance I spent the night playing, adjusting volumns WOW!
  12. I sent you a return message
  13. Could you please explain sound stage? I am a novice to the terms. If I were to guess, I would use the info gained from manuals when they address where you should put speakers in the room, and the stage is where the majority of all the sound waves "meet". I would think the only way you could truely compare is to place the speakers in the exact same location. Because if one set was placed closer to a corner it would gain or loose from the deflection from the corner. We have a store were I live that sells almost exculsively Paradigm but that makes me think they are the best margin for them especially since Paradigm does a very good job "protecting" their dealers. I do like my sub however! but please tell me if I would like a klipsch sub better and if so which one?
  14. Okay, no one shoot me. But in an effort to get everyone loving my new investment. I purchased an NSYNC DVD Concert for my girls for Valentine's Day. It was actually a fairly decent show.
  15. I would love a good DVD of 1. the Doobie Brothers 2. Chicago - I rented the one where they play call ins and did not like it
  16. So what do folks think? Should I try to to get my center changed to an Academy?? With what I have seen them going for it is going to cost me a little. Probably a couple of hundred. Is it going to be worth it?
  17. Wow, that was great, I really do thank you. I am not one to purchase or really watch alot of movies. But as I noted in another post I am really enjoying Music DVDs. I would really like to be able to compare a KLF-C7 to an Academy but that looks like it is impossible. With so many (seems to me at least) folks wanting an Academy and since they are getting close to 1000 bucks on ebay, how hard would it be for Klipsch to make a run? How many do they have to make when they tool up to make them? We see that they monitor these boards but I have never seen a representative to make a comment. This would be a good place for one to do so. They only made the Acacemy for 2 years. Why so short a time. Is there something in them that they can no longer get. Were they made in Hope and again, not knowing the assembly process could they easily make just ..............50 lets say or would that few not be profitable?
  18. Well, I am bored, drank too much coffee and do not want to go to bed so what the heck I will just post the specs here and let folks have something to reference, while they discuss. KLF -c7 Academy Frequency Response 75Hz - 20 kHz +/- 3dB 65Hz - 20 kHz+/-3dB Sensitivity 99dB @1 watt/meter 96dB @1watt/meter Power Handling 150watts max cont (600watts Peak) 100 watts max continuous Nominal Impedance 8ohms 8ohms Enclosure type Sealed Sealed Drive Components Two way system using 1"(2.54cm) Two way system using 1" magnetically shielded, POLYMER magnetically shielded, DIAPHRAGM compression driver polmer dome compression tweeter with a 90 x 60 Tractix driver with a 90 x 40 Horn and two 8" poly CG cone woofers exponentional horn and two 8"magnetically shielded poly cone woofers Tweeter K-90-KV 1" Polymer diaphragm comp K-76-KV 1" Polymer dome comp driver driver High Freq Horn 90 x 60 Tractix Horn 90 x 40 Exponential Horn HF Crossover 2000HZ 2200HZ Woofer Two K-1062-KV 8" Poly Carbon two K-1011-KV 8" Poly Cone Graphite cones Weight, Material and Dimensions - I know they play some part in the engineering of the sound but we will not discuss that here unless you want to. Hmmm, I am sure I could have spent this time doing things some might see as more important....................Dont think so,,,,,,,,hehehehe
  19. I really do want to thank everyone for the input but it would be fun to take this info one step further. I was reading the Academy frenzy post and was woundering what the difference is between it and my KLF-C7. I do not know how to do this but could we post the specs side by side and then discuss the specs and relate the information in terms of what we are going to hear or not hear!!! I will get the ball rolling with the first spec Frequency Response KLF - C 7 Academy 75Hz-20kHz +/_ 3dB 65Hz-20kHz+/_ 3dB Now, I have read all the posts but have not studied them. I am kind of a rock and if someone addressed this please do not hit me. But, is frequency Highs and lows? If so this would mean the KLF - C7 will play the higher notes (wider in the high range)? On a machine do you "SEE" frequency as a wave and if so how do they look? This is going to be fun!!
  20. Mr. P In my case the ringing would mean that I just turned off the stereo. Oh, I think my wife is yelling something at me, it is hard to hear since she is in the next room (the rooms only have a 8 foot opening into each other). I hid the remote and locked the cabinet door so she cannot turn down the volumn. Now I am ROTFLMAO!! I am really just kidding. I do not like my setup for just volumn. I love being able to hear the little instruments clearly. But like I read in another post, it is nice to dust em off once in awhile.
  21. GRB - I know what sounds good and I can remember going to a few parties as a kid and they had Klipsch speakers. They were awesome and I have always wanted them. I owned a pair of Heresys in 86 which was a joint purchase with a roommate. When we went our ways he took the Klipsch. For some reason I really started wanting some good Audio in the house. If you look on some other posts you will see that I was Klipsch poor a month ago and then came across a couple of good deals. The terms still confuse me and I know that some of you could probably come in and increase my sound quality so I am here to learn. I hate the DVD concert thread. I think I have already spent more money on DVD concerts than I did the Heresys. I am getting my kids to plan concert parties and charge a 2 buck admission so I can go out and buy another DVD, heheheheheh. Let's see this past weekend we spent with Fleetwood Mac, The Boss and NSYNC(girls) Anyway keep the thread going, I am learning alot. I had no idea what the speaker in the back of the Forte really did and now I do.
  22. Really basic question. We all assume everyone knows the language. Could we go with a thread for a while that helps with basics. Driver - I see someone sitting behind a stearing wheel and really have now idea how this term came about. Oh, and please do not think you will offend me with the real basics. I am someone who answers the question, "what kind of engine you got in that truck?" with "a black one". I just know I like the way it sounds but want to learn more so I can upgrade.
  23. Okay, I have a Pioneer VSX811S that is set up to run 7.1 on the "A" speakers but is only set up to run 2.0 on the "B" speakers. Due to the lack of 7.1 STUFF I took the Heresys that I have for the rear sounds and put them in the kitchen/family room. It is great and I love it but I can only get the Corns and Heresys playing when I have the RCV play both A and B speakers. The Fortes that are set up on the side surrounds click off. I guess the RCV has to send either a 2 Ch signal or a 5.1 or 7.1 signal, HUH? Anyone know how I can get EVERYTHING playing?!?!?!?!
  24. I LOVE,,,,,,,,,,KNOCK OUT THE WALL!!!!!!!!!!HEHEHEHEHE RCV IS PIONEER 811s, THE manual does not really address this
  25. Okay, I got my Heresys today and I am putting them in the kitchen/great room on "b" speakers. I have my others on "a" speakers. when I hit 5.1 I have my surrounds but loose the "B" speakers if I have the "b" speakers, I loose the surround speakers. So anyone know how to get aroung this??? I have the whole house rockin but want the folks in the living room to enjoy surround sound!!!!!! Come on there are smart folks here, help a fellow out!!
