  1. I need the KLF-C7 and the KSP-S6's. I would be willing to take either one's or potentially both. The shipping is pretty crazy and pricey for these speakers. I'm off work on a finger injury and for the right price I would consider going on a massive road trip/speaker pick-up and delivery/ for the right price that could go towards my speaker needs!?!
  2. It's good. I bought the cht-15 (newer model) for $400 (used). Its no RSW15 but it is a good bang for the buck.
  3. I am definetly going to be there for the first showing. As for the acting, the oringinal 3 movies had the same or worse. People still make fun of Mark Hamills acting but who cares still awesome movies. I agree with the Disney feeling in the last couple of movies but i am really looking forward to this one as it should answer alot of questions from when i was a kid and its always kind of neat when evil triumphs, just like ESB.
  4. We might as well start supporting the HD-DVD format! If Sony is approaching the idea of compromising their format with the HD-DVD format then that must mean things are going so great. Since when does Sony give up the war? HD-DVD is coming out in Sept 05, Blu-ray is said to be coming out mid 2006. How many people are gonna wait 10 more months to have high definition DVD's? Sure Bluray holds more data, but is it essential, probably not. A dual layered HD-DVD could hold a 3hour movie in hi-def with 9 gigs left in extra's. If you need more space then it would be 2 discs. The extra 20 gigs from a dual layer BluRay would always be handy but for the next few years, excessive. Todays video games don't even consume full DVD's yet. Rumors also hint that the X-Box2 is going to be released late 05 (this years big X-mas gift) and it is supposedly going to be HD-DVD. PS3 is not coming out until atleast mid 2006. Less than six months to go and we'll finally have High Def DVD'S
  5. I went through the same dilemma of uprgrading a sub on a budget less than a year ago, except I was getting rid of my Pardigm PS-1000 which I found significantly better than the KSW 10 and 12. My budget goal was around $400US. Many people suggested I just do it right and save up for the big boys RSW-15 or SVS-PB Ulta 12 or both. Well thats still on my list and i think I did very well at finding a good value sub that is definetly getting me through. I bought a Velodyne CHT-15 on Ebay for $400 even and it does very well, especially at the low end. Just another sub to consider. I did some auditioning and I found it to be better than the RW-12 but not as good as the RSW-15
  6. I have it set on Audio. I never noticed a real major difference between the two. Have you tried the foam in the port yet? Hope it helps! I bought mine on EBAY for $400 and I will probably never sell it as it will make an awesome sub for my future secondary HT. But I am craving the major slam of tight bass that is probably found in the 40-100 kz range that we probably all use to hear when we had nice 10 or 12" subs in car stereos. I had come to the conclusion a few weeks after buying the CHT-15 that I will have to eventually upgrade to the RSW-15 and or SVS Ultra's. By the sounds of your RSW-15 demo it sounds like that may be the way to go. Money sucks!
  7. I own the VSX-07TX and I had a problem with the subwoofer settings as well and both of our solutions could be remedied with the same treatment (My problem was that I wanted my sub to pound and rock along with my KLF-30's in stereo mode, BUT!!!, by setting the mains to large the stupid receiver does not use sub in stereo mode, the only way to get the sub working in stereo mode is set mains to small, it does sound good but man does it urk me knowing that I have to refer to my KLF-30's as "small"!!!) Anyway... my suggestion is to use the "B speaker" pre-outs or run speaker wire from the "B speaker" out on the receiver. This would atleast make it easily switched on and off using the "B speaker" on/off switch. Thought this might avoid some of the minor BS associated with using the main speaker outs?
  8. The sub is worth around $300, give or take a $100. It is not comparable to the newer subs with similar list prices. The SW-15 sold for around $2000, which is way more than the RSW-15 and not in the same league asthe SW amp is 200w and only goes down to 40hz. The SW series is much better than the KSW series and probably wouldn't surpass the RW series. Sorry if the repy bashes your sub, my buddy has the KT-SW (pretty much same sub but sold as a THX set) and it sounds great with his setup.
  9. Has anyone else tried blocking the port on a CHT-15? I emailed Velodyne to make sure I won't damage anything (some other fuorums mentioned a slight chance of damage when blocking ports, they may have been referring to totall blockage but better safe than sorry?) I am also looking to get more punch out of my system and I have also read that getting a good separate to powere my KLF-30's may give me the punch I am looking for. I am satisfied with the lows produced from the CHT-15, but then again I haven't heard an RSW-15 yet either!
  10. I also would like tighter bass with my CHT-15. Let us know what you think of blocking the ports. Could someone describe "breathable foam"? I would assume most staff ar home depots would say any type of foam is breathable. What is the best breathable foam to look for? Is there any more cons or risks associated with blocking ports?
  11. I second the KT-LCR. I have one on loan from a friend until I get a hold of a KLF-C7. I am using it with 30's so I know it would work fine with the 20's. It's a fair size too! What are you max dimensions?
  12. Phew! Thanks for the clarification Trey! It was a relief to hear that Klipsch continues to support an open and honest forum. How weird would the subwoofer section be without being able to mention other brands. This forum was a great tool for me when I bought my KLF-30's and was having a difficult time getting a good bang for the buck sub on my budget. When I asked for the suggestions of subwoofers with the best bang for the buck it would have been sooooo phony if the replies were restricted to the KlIPSCH RSW-15, 12, KSW 15, SW-15, THX-Ultra or perhaps the RW-12. I would not have accepted bias replies from a "Klipsch Only" forum. Klipsch has earned even more of my respect by the way this forum operates. As a long time fan I was comforted by Klipsch's obvious high level in confidence by openly running a forum that was open to bashing and having other products or brands praised/advertised. I'm sure many of us find shopping so annoying when the salesperson claims that anything other than their product sucks! A salesperson gains a little of my respect when they can openly discuss the pro's of their competition and still convince me why I should by their product. I am surprised by how many people would be sympathetic to Klipsch if they leaned more to "klipsch only" discussions. Like many have said before,"how boring and biased would that be". The idea that it is improper to go to someones house and complain or belittle is rude in a certain context. BUT, when it is done in a forum, amongst peers with similar interests in an open honest and free environment it is totally acceptable. I have several groups of peers with several types of interests and if the conversation is about where I could get bigger, better, cheaper steaks to throw on the BBQ or I'm given tips on how I could paint the trim or edging better I don't take it as an insult. Its taken as an opinion shared among friends. Some of those friends may leave thinking they'll buy the same steaks that I bought and others may try out the bigger better ones. Who knows, who cares! Whats important is that we are free at my house to exchange open honest unbiased opinions!!! This forum makes me proud of Klipsch for being confident enough in their product to run an open honest forum. Forums need to be free, my other love is corvettes and it drives me nuts when some vette fans can't appreciate some other sports cars. My friends can park their mustangs in my driveway and we all talk about how cool it would be to buy a Ferrari but when it comes down to it noone drives my vette and just like my Klipsch I still blush when they are screaming/roaring(loud sidepipes, he he)!!!!!! Sadly enough I had a limited budget, I ended buying the Velodyne sub to go with my 30's (it's good enough for now) but this forum has also convinced me to save up for that stack of RSW-15's!!!!! Anyway, enough rambling, it felt good to get that off my chest!!! Jonathan
  13. I am very interested to hear an amp run my KLF-30's. Does anyone have aa real good suggestion for me to get started with separates. I think I want atleast an amp that is 2 x 200 and then when I move the Elite VSX-07TX from the HT to the family room I can begin to build the system with more separates. Whats a good brand to start and expand with, Anyone? Maybe I should make a new post?
  14. Well I can't take it back as its over 5 years old and I bought it just befote DTS was out so trade in hurts too. I don't care about DTS, the receiver is great and the only problem I have is no sub in stereo mode when mains are set to "large". The tech guy at Velodyne said that in their tests they found Klipsch and Velodyne worked best when set mains are set to small. Velodyne also said to not hook up the LINE-IN and FROM AMPLIFIER inputs simultaneosly. I'm trying to get some confirmation on my theory from Pioneer but I keep getting errors when i email them. Maybe someone in the forum knows. My theory is that I am pretty sure that 5.1 receivers cannot use "B" speakers when the surround mode is on because the rears and the B speakers are powered by the same channels on some type of switch. So basically because the amp can only power B or rear speakers and not simultaneously I am thinking that by running the "B" speaker wire to the sub would be perfect as the warning from Velodyne is that the line-in and From Amplifier inputs should not be run simultaneosly and if my theory is right my receiver cannot send out an LFE signal while sending out a signal to the "B" speakers. I would like some confirmation on if this would be safe. Like I stated previously it would be real handy in stereo mode to be able to turn sub off and on just by pressing the "B" speaker button. This would also keep the .1 in 5.1 real through the LFE out as opposed to running preouts from mains to sub and sending all sound to the sub. Hope this post makes sense. What do I have to worry about by hooking the LINE-IN and FROM AMPLIFIER inputs simultaneosly? Thanks Jon
  15. Hi Mettallica - Cunning Stunts - Sounds great in DD and there's some cool effects and options. There are several songs that are in multi-angle (5 angles - you can watch your favorit member perform or watch the entire stage Shania - Live in Chicago - originally bought it for my toddler, sounds great, good picture I have heard alot of good things about Sarah Maclachan's newest DVD Jon
  16. Well I got the sub to work in Stereo Mode. I needed to set the left and right speakers to "small". What the heck is that? I have KLF 30's, they rock and I hate the thought of referring to them as "small". What will the "small" setting do the output from the 30's? That is also too annoying to think that whenever I'm having a get together and then everyone wants to listen to music I would have to go and change the speaker size setting. i'm still thinking that runnning speaker wire from the Left and Right "B" outs of the receiver to the sub would make turning the sub on for "stereo" as simple as pushing the "B" speaker button on the receiver. Would this be a bad thing in any way? (The A and B speakers do run in parallel)

This may give you extra bass in movies when your sub picks extra info from the front channels along with the LFE but thats nothing a little gain adjustment can't fix. You will also need a y-splitter to share the input with your LFE in the back of the sub. Because you need 3 channels entring the sub now, not just 1. (edit) i just read your last post, glad you could find 2.1 mode, thats a much better solution ---------------- 007 I think you read my post incorrectly. when I wrote "My last receiver wasn't 5.1 so the sub didn't have its own channel and I guess with the 07-TX "stereo" must mean 2 not 2.1?" I was meaning that the receiver does not send a signal to the sub when in stereo mode. I read the advice of having main preouts go to the sub. My main concern is what will this do to the sound in 5.1? As far as that goes I would be losing a discrete channel. I think it would bother me too much to have 5.0 surround as opposed to 5.1. I want to have 5.1 surround and have the sub working in stereo mode. Here's a link to my receiver. I thought I posted this already, ooops probable somewhere where it shouldn't have been. The manual is not really that detailed and I did not see it on the site? http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4155_32966,00.html Jon
  18. ---------------- On 9/17/2004 1:24:54 PM 007 wrote: Might want to try to easy solution first and check the crossover on the sub and in your receiver. ---------------- Hi 007 The crossover and on the sub and the receiver should be fine. The sub plays at the right frequencies. As for clipping I don't think it ever was clipping. The bass is clean, deep and smooth. Although I will try lowering the lfe level a bit to be on the safe side. I guess my big question is is it better to have LFE cranked on receiver and lower volume on subwoofer or lower LFE output from receiver and higher volume on sub? Pro's/cons, if any?
  19. Thanks guys and here's a few responses I thought it was weird that this receiver could be missing a good feature, but who knows. i emailed Pioneer to see if I was missing something. They sent me a 800 number that isn't accessible fro Canada. My last receiver wasn't 5.1 so the sub didn't have its own channel and I guess with the 07-TX "stereo" must mean 2 not 2.1? As for using the preouts. Would this not be sending 2 channels to the sub. I can see how this makes sense in stereo mode. But when in 5.1 would the sub not be getting extra material that it is not intended to receive? I am thinking that using the sub as the "B" speaker should get the sub working in stereo mode, and the plus is that I can turn it off with a push of a "B speaker" button. Does running speaker wire to the sub make sense? Pro's/Cons/Warnings? Jonathan
  20. Thanks for the response, couple of questions? Define "noise floor" and "volume pots". As for the clipping I will try turning down the LFE output on the receiver a few notches and then adjust the volume on the sub again. I don't think it is clipping. There are just many more occasions where I will notice a little more thump or a little more presence of bass. For the first few weeks my main problem was that I only heard it with the lowest of the lows and that was it. Am I on the right track or is this just me? Jonathan
  21. Hi One extra question. In regards to sub settings I read over and over "experiment, experiment, experiment..." Well I have been and I want to make sure I haven't done anything too stupid. During movies I was not seeing a whole lot movement with the driver and I really only noticed the sound on the lowest of the lows. So I started to experimeent I had already had the "y" adaptor hooked up to the sub and I felt it just wasn't getting a strong enough signal. I know the sub isn't Awesome but I was thinking that the KLF's high efficiency could be making the settings look uneven. Anyway.... In the receiver speaker level out settings I have cranked the the LFE setting to the max and then adjusted the SPL (with a meter) so now the volume is at "2" vs "5" on the sub. My theory was that this would not make the amp work as hard since it is being sent a louder signal? I assumed that the signal being sent through the sub cable is just sending a harmless signal. Am I putting undue stress on something. I think the sub seems a little more active. I am also thinking about running speaker wire from the "B speaker out" on the receiver to the sub(In another post I thought I would try this so I could have my sub on during "stereo" mode). Will this have any effect with having the LFE set to max? Hopefully this is all harmless experimenting. Well it's late. Look forward to your advice. Jon
  22. ---------------- On 9/13/2004 9:38:39 AM ygmn wrote: but you could use the MAIN L/R outputs and run a interconnect to the sub for these 2 channel times....?? ---------------- Since my sub is at the back of a 28' room, would this not require me to run almost 60 ft of cable. Also if I did this, when in 5.1 would the sub not pick up effects that it was not intended to get? I was thinking of running wire from the "B speaker" connection on the receiver into the sub. Correct me if I am wrong but if I wanted the sub to work in Stereo mode I would turn on the "B" speaker switch and when I just wanted to run the sub in 5.1 through the LFE I would just turn off the "B" speakers. (To avoid any unnecessary emails, "I am not running any "B speakers" or second set of speakers just planning on using the "B" as a way to send an extra signal". Any pro's/cons/warnings would be appreciated Jon
  23. Hey Arto, didn't mean to sound snippy. I hadn't really seen your name around and I just started reading some of the discussions you had with Moon. I live in a small town and alot of the architects that I talked to 6 years ago gave me funny looks when I asked them to make the walls on home theater room have a slight slope. Talked to some good architech's but none that were audiophiles. Anyway I'm sure it makes it alot easier from your end if your clients have all of their wants clearly listed. I have always looked at an architect as someone who I say this is what I want, design it. I am in the social work field, sorry if I'm wrong, I don't have the advantage of being in a trade and trying to learn as I go along.
