Thank you Cecaa and Rick! Yeah, the nice part is; SHE LIKES THEM!!!! She loves the Heresy sound and the HT realism in the living room. Just not crazy about the looks. It was going to be KG 2s in the bedroom, but this was a hard sell. (She reluctantly agreed); I could not find speaker stands than looked right for the right price. Problem Solved! [] Oh wait.... I need a center, sub and surrounds..... DAMMIT. [H]

So, right now these are being powered with the Promedia 2.1 Sub/ amp. (I connected these instead of the sats). They sound damn good. They sound even better with the HK 430 or the HK AVR 340. Decisions; decisions. The WAF factor is amazing. She was begging "Can we keep them? Please?" I now understand the appeal of Reference. They sound great and look great; with modern lines that ladies approve of. Maybe down the road.... RF 7s? Bwahaahaahaahaahaahaahaahaa......... [6]

Yep, that's right.... RF 52s for $70. Now; to be fair there is very minor warping at the bottom due to water, I believe. These things blow the Pro Medias they are replacing away!

I have an Hk 430. My Heresy Is sound great with it and my AVR 7300. You will be pleased using it with the 30s. Some say the 430 is the most musical. Idk. Goods luck.

My .02: I had KG 5.2s and my Heresy Is. I took about 6 weeks of switching back and forth to decide which to keep. The KG 5.2s could POUND. They were not as detailed as the heresy Is. Perhaps the titanium tweeters and new Xovers would get them closer. The Heresy Is (with a sub) do everything the KG 5.2s could and just sound better. More detailed; more seperation, etc. Just better. I kept the Heresey Is and sold the KG 5.2s. I wish I had kept the 5.2s in retrospect, because they are excellent speakers. I hope this does not confuse you more....... Good Luck.

Big Cliff bought one a while back; but I am not sure if he is still using it for HT. I have an AVR 7300 (older; 2005-2006; but with 120 wpc stereo and 100X7). I also just acquired an AVR 340, and have an old HK 430 Twin Powered. I love HK products and have been lucky with no issues so far. Hit up Big Cliff; or perhaps I can help?

Congrats! There have been various times when I thought "Yes; This is it". But, since the Heresy Is versus the KG 5.2s I owned; I have found what I have been looking for also. My HK AVR 7300 drives the speakers effortlessly, and my soundstage is lifelike. (We were watching preseason football; and kept hearing someone screaming; We thought it was outside; but it was in the backround of the broadcast.) I think I am done for awhile; but you never know for sure..... [] Enjoy!

Yeah, I had to scrape the rubber (carefully) off of the steel basket. Not sure if it is different glue as you said, or just holds tighter on steel. Glad it worked out for you. Those KG 5.2s you have are BEASTS. (I regret selling my pair, but the Heresy had a bit more detail to me). There are tweeter upgrades; etc; if you decide to go that route down the road. ENJOY! KG speakers kick butt!

No sir, I am done making my point. I apologize if I antagonized you. Not my intention. Just wanted to ensure we are speaking the same language. Email is notoriusly vague on "tone of voice." I do understand other views, and even how they came about. However, that story might be construed as a red herring. Sorry again. Overcomplex way of saying: 1. I understand your POV 2. Dave Dave, In a perfect world for me; every single recording and song would be perfectly engineered and mixed. I set my minimum standard of 320 KBS because the world is not perfect. As I said; I copy every CD I have and own/ have access to over in FLAC. Email and forum posting can make a spirited debate difficult. I would say I do not like compression either; but I know it exists and have chosen to deal with it when necessary. As for Kraftewerke; I stand by my statement; because I do not like their music. That being said; to each his own, and I do not criticize those who do......

Do you live near Chicago? You are welcome to come by for a listen........ (They are as efficient as many/ most of the Klipsch lineup at around 94-96db; they can get really loud).

It was difficult to get that ring off, and hard to get it on also. I literally used a small flat screwdriver and small, thin crowar and gently worked my way around..... (Being VERY CAREFUL not to mar or indent the MDF). This took about 8 times around before it started freeing up and finally came off. Gluing back on is not super easy, you will want to mark where it is currently for reference, and then just use a good all purpose adhesive. (I believe I used silicone). Good Luck; it is a PITA to do without damaging anything.

I'd offer $300 for the Heresy IIs and hopefully be running. It really depends if you prefer Reference versus Heritage sound. They are both Klipsch; but definitely each is different. Good Luck!

An Intel 1701 chipset found on most motherboards is capable of recording uncompressed at 24/192. Anyone who can't afford that can't afford to eat. Dave An intel chipset does not give the same result as a multi million dollar studio with high paid sound engineers and production, mixing, etc. Continuing with this thread (for me) is pointless; as you seem concerned only with making your point, instead of actually trying to understand other views.

I don't know of any professional recording gear that compresses on record. Why would anyone do that? I am assuming you are not confusing amplitude compression (also completely unnecessary, IMHO, but common) with audio compression. Either of these is inherently and expressly destructive, but at least dynamic compression doesn't throw away audio. Whether a Strad or Pink Floyd, dynamic compression certainly doesn't make the music an "inferior syle," it just makes it unnatural. Dynamic range is, IMHO, the domain of the composer and musician, not the engineer. Dave A lot of Metal music (IE: Underground) is recorded at (somewhat) lower quality. Often times; this is due to budget constraints on bands that have not made it yet. My point was simply that there is a lot of great music out there that can not be or is not available in super HQ recordings. (Just because it is in .WAV format on a CD does not mean it is the best quality recording possible). I realize this is slightly off topic regarding mp3s; but I could show you many 320KBS mp3s that I have that sound way better than other bands music on CD or FLAC. It is not just mp3 compression that results in lower quality source. Do you get what I mean?

I would not use anything like acetone or MEK,; With MEK you will probably melt the cone. I did surrounds on KG 5.2s before. I was able to just peel the rubber off; and then remove the residue with Goo gone; then prep with several passes of rubbing with alcohol. I imagine you should be able to just peel it off; it may be a bit hard to start; but once started; it peels like a banana. Hope that helps.

However, listening to a quality recording of something critical...say a solo Strad...makes the sonic degradation of any compression scheme that in any way throws out audio information painfully obvious. OTOH, you are unlikely to notice if listening to Kraftwerke. Dave While it may be true that much of modern metal music is already being compressed as it is recorded; that does not make it an inferior style of music. There are so many artists that have done so much for this genre.... #1 on my list? The recently departed Ronnie James Dio...... OTOH.... I listen to everything from Fleetwood Mac, to the Stones, to Kreator and Slayer, as well as Eminem and Dr. Dre to Kanye and House Music. I have the Max Raabe Orchestra and even older music such as Johnny Cash and Johnny Horton. There are so many types and styles of music that are great; I listen to much more than just metal. I can pull up the same song from Fleetwood Mac @ 320KBS and FLAC. There is a difference, but it is subtle. By the way Kraftwerke blows...... (IMHO).

The reason is much of the music I listen to is difficult to get, if not nearly impossible. So again, when I copy music from a CD to my drive; it is FLAC. If it is something I have had on casette; I am at the mercy of what I can find. Sorry dude, I completely disagree with your statement.
