  1. just be aware that most pre/pro/receivers apply the same bass management to the pre-outs as is being applied to the speakers, so if, fo example, you're running your fronts as SMALL, using the front pre-outs for a sub can be problematic
  2. if you're satisfied with your very lowest end, then i'd say an rsw12 would probably fit in very nicely, especially for music. edited: first, i had said rsw10, but then i saw what those klf30s are! maybe you need an rsw15, even!
  3. pistol pete! blue party lights in your IB sub! that roolz!
  4. quote: "Any time you use the sub out on your receiver, you should bypass the crossover in the sub. That is because the receiver is already doing the crossover work. You would use the sub crossover if you were connected the sub to the speaker level connections on your receiver." that sub has no speaker-level connections. provided the receiver's sub-out IS for filtered LFE output (as most are), then you should bypass the sub's crossover. use the sub's crossover if you are connecting it to pre-amp level outputs of a receiver or amp, or to an unfiltered sub-out jack.
  5. well........................... vman71, what's up? got it yet?
  6. if you're using a single lfe or sub out on the receiver/pre/pro/amp, then splitting the signal is NOT desirable. at the sub is EXACTLY WHERE you want to turn up the level. the "gain" achieved from a splitter doesn't exist; if you properly calibrate, it just forces you to run your sub or receiver output at a lower level, that's all. amplifying the input signal but compensatorily lowering the sub's level is NOT the cleanest way to increase a sub's output. only use a Y-splitter when there's a reason to. otherwise, don't.
  7. experiment, experiment, experiment it is NOT video shielded, btw.
  8. "It shouldn't wear on your amp, but it might wear on your wallet. Some of these amps draw a fair amount of current just sitting at idle -- your owner's manual should have that data." ........................please!
  9. i love my rsw15. incidentally, mine doesn't "drop off" until around 24-25Hz. i've measure it's output at 25Hz as being a few dB higher than that at 30Hz in different locations in 2 different rooms.
  10. damn, people, i gotta post this again? http://www.irfanview.com please learn to resize your pictures! who wants to look at a big ol' grainy picture?
  11. why don't either of you want to leave the sub ON, all the time? if the sub has L+R inputs and you haven't tried a Y-adapter at the sub, you may want to, to increase the "tickle". this is, however, not the most desirable solution. another solution is to lower the sub's volume level with the sub's volume control and increase the sub channel output at the receiver. this is not the best solution either. the best solution is to leave the sub ON all the time.
  12. http://www.irfanview.com try it. you'll like it.
  13. ok, ok. i'll try some deep breathing.
  14. let's keep it in one thread http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=50686&sessionID={88EF462A-9EB4-4A5E-A968-3410091E29A7} maybe the mods can merge these and put a "sticky" on it
  15. "Guess it's time to look for a new sub." uh, no, it's time to get out the drill. the parts express spike kit that someone linked above has everything you need and complete instructions.

  18. i ended up not setting my system up where there was carpet, so i never added the spikes, but i was planning on just using the existing screw-holes on the bottom of my sub, instead of worrying about t-nuts. iirc, the threads of the screws holding the feet on my rsw15 are "1/4-20", but they may be different on the ksws, if those even have screws on the bottom. i emailed klipsch for this info, btw, and they answered quickly. so fire off an email and ask 'em. here's a link to some spikes with different thread sizes, btw http://www.oregondv.com/15spike.htm
  19. obviously an rc7 for your center
  20. here's a nifty free proggie that will convert .bmps to .jpgs as well as allow resizing http://www.irfanview.com
