  1. My guess is you'll soon hear about how tubes love horns (or is it horns love tubes?) Regardless... McIntosh, as well as other tubed amps, have evidently always been a very nice match for Klipsch (and look cool too)
  2. Given how he BLEW past me on the highwayout of Hope (and I think I had like a 30 minute head start on him, cruising at like 80 mph), I hope that doesn't imply that you are even worse??!! []
  3. Dark, that implies you are still fairly young. As a thought, you are not TOO far from me (I'm just a touch south of Knoxville, perhaps 3 hours away?) In the event that you (are first, old enough lol) decide you'd like to go and perhaps it's ok with your parents, I'd be willing to bet lunch that we could get you there. There are a couple guys in the greater Atlanta area that will likely be going, or, if you could go with me perhaps.. Just trying to suggest to you that if you are as young as that suggests, but would like to do it, put it to your parents and you never know what might work out. In the event it would be driving with someone as myself, I'm down your way from time to time, visiting my family (Lilburn area) and could also visit with you & your parents so they could gain a comfort factor. Or... you can wait until you're in college! []
  4. Are those M-200's these? http://www.msbtech.com/products/m200.php 12" wide, 18" tall and 90 pounds? yikes, they look a lot smaller in the picture. Don't pictures usually ADD 20 pounds? []
  5. Just so I know it's said, I've got a friend in Atlanta who's been looking for a pair of LaScalas. If these are still available, can you give me a 1 hour "hold" on them to call him & see if he's interested? Obviously, if they're spoken for, I'll shut up. []
  6. Found the thread http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/822411.aspx
  7. I don't know the answers to your questions, or if you specifically want to build it yourself, BUT... in case you didn't know, Mark Deneen (JuicyMusic) had several of these that he made up for sale. I don't know if he sold them or had any left. I'd imagine if that interests you, you could call him at work www.juicymusicaudio.com He's a regular here and one of the "good guys" Watchout for Fini though, I've recently heard his name mentioned simulataneously with thongs and dancing...[]
  8. Ralph, I've sent you an email, just a heads up
  9. woo hoo!! Nice room! Have you tried to angle them out further? I've done that with mine and it helped widen my sweet spot with little (or no) loss of "thwack" as the Dukester likes to say. Tell us... did Roy also send you the headphone adapter for them? You know... you put the adapter on your head and it has a slot on each side that hold the speakers 1" away from your ear? He said it's still in the experimental stage...[]
  10. It sure can be fun having ~450 watts on the LF!! [] Had an old friend over yesterday, prior to arrival, I told him to bring his favorite cd (brought some Floyd of course). Just as with the others who've visited, I set the controls and gave him the remote telling him he can listen as soft or loud as he wanted. He could not blow anything up if he went full throttle (as I'd had the volume on Peach set to about 5/8th's) The people that have been here before, have a clue what a Jubilee is and what it replaces. This poor guy, had NO clue about any part of the history/story. It was pretty cool literally watching someone sitting there with their mouth agape as they listened. To say he was awestruck is quite the understatement. Ralph, I hope you're posting more, you should know by now how we all are about pictures and all that nice stuff.
  11. you might also do a search on "babies first sounds" as I think that is where Mike put his first thoughts after setup
  12. Yes, as well as Mikese2a3, DHTman and 6foot8. 6foot8 has the three way version, we others, have the 2 way version. Before starting yet another thread, it might serve your reading interest to do a search on Jubilee. Also perhaps, on "chronicles" as this is the thread that shows Mike's & mine being built, delivered and setup. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/767705.aspx For Dhtman's thread, I think his is called "my jubilee adventure" http://forums.klipsch.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=jubilee+adventure&o=Relevance Both Mike & DHT are far more articulate on their hearing and descriptions of the sound. My comments? (and yes, I did have Khorns in same corner, prior to Jubilees) The Jubilees step ALL over the Khorn, period. 1/3'rd the distortion, better bass, better horn, much wider sweet spot and SaaaLAM factor, to die for [] We all bought them as seen in the threads (with the (yet to be called subtle) K-402 horn on top) as a 2 way version, NOT the 3 way (other than 6foot8, but everything he does, seems to be larger than life!!) If you want to ask more, feel free to start thread, pm, phone...or if you want an audition, you're welcome by []
  13. Close!! The saga is over and here's what's happening: We're doing a bathroom in the basement and so far, it's on pace to be about a 10K room. I told her I'd rather give her the "points" for getting me such a cool thing, however, I'd rather put the $$ towards the bathroom cost. I think she liked that outcome on both sides! []
  14. lol..."unlike your dad" lol seeing as I helped him lug his Khorns back into the vehicle when you all left Hope, I know where you're coming from lol I've got the Promedia 2.1's and LOVE them. Bought a pair for my sister in law http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-2-1.aspx I only wish I had the setup to use the 5.1 system. For me, the above is a no brainer for ya!! Tell your dad I said it was OK for him to buy them for you. []
  15. First off, I'd simply say, contact Terry as he IS "the man". My guess is, if you called his "office" and he's around, he'll answer. His office is in his home in case you didn't know that. If he's taking the day off, he simply won't answer it. If he's piddling about, he will (might), so you lose nothing by trying. (his office/home is about 5 miles from my work)
  16. Maybe "you & the guys" can put on a Chippendale dance for Amy, Cathy & all the other women? (I'll be out visting friends at that specific hour) [] I wonder if they'd find that (you dancing as a Chippendale) a lurid or an alluring event...[:#]
  17. lol, she knows I'm putting it to you guys. Not to sound trivial about it, but she couldn't care MUCH less if I took it back, or kept it. Seems I'm one of those "hard to buy for" kind of people. I told her prior to Christmas, that I ALREADY had my X-mas "gift", in the Jubilees. If I went with Sat. radio, woudln't I STILL have to carry something around? Not to mention, the fees for subscription? I'm not knocking the idea at all, just not sure that I know enough about it to jump aboard (not to mention unsure about how much I like the subscription fees) Perhaps I need to come out from under my technology rock & find out more about it [] May I put you down then, as sort of a "ney" vote on the Ipod? (just trying to get a feel for your thoughts on it)
  18. My wife got me the 80 gig Ipod for Christmas. She didn't know if she should do it or not because she realized if I had WANTED one, I'd already HAVE one. Using that logic, she felt (with some accuracy) that perhaps I wasn't too thrilled about them. Ok, here's my take: As a rule, I don't have any need for an Ipod. When I'm out on the tractor cutting one/some of the fields, I can be doing that task for 6/8 hours at a stretch. What I've done in the past is make a MP3 cd and take my cd player along with me. I have some Pro-Ear headphones (http://www.impactguns.com/store/proears_mag_d2.html) that are used as a protection device. They also happen to have an input for a radio or in my case, cd player. So, wearing my hearing protection is NOT going to change with the advent of having or not having an Ipod. The ONLY change an IPOD will knowingly make for me is it will be a touch easier carrying around a smaller item, instead of a weather resistant CD player. I'll still have some cords going from player to my headphones. One "negative" of the Ipod... if I'm out on the back 40 cutting away and the battery dies, I'm out of business. If I have my cd player, I'll have an extra set of batteries WITH me and change them out on the fly (usually while still actively cutting). So, part of me says "ahh, cool... an Ipod", another part of me says "yikes!!, for the money involved, it's not worth the price for the small gain in carrying it around in a shirt pocket" For me, it really can be that simple. So, I'm putting it to you guys. Is this something I should keep? Are there horror stories with Ipods (like dropping it and blowing it up)? If it's primary use is going to be cutting fields, is it a waste of money? She was saying, I could use it in my car (I listen to NPR), or at work (I've got DOZENS of cd's already burned here at work)... I don't want to send it back for her refund and THEN find out something cool about them that I simply don't know about, because of my ignroance. Thoughts? [*-)]
  19. JC has given you the website that the other dummies forgot about [:$]. My recollection is, the ES networks run "about" $1,400? As for swapping them out, it's not too hard. Just need a screwdriver, drill (I had to drill some new pilot holes) and umm... perhaps some odd connectors. I don't remember about the connector part, my brain says I needed to get some spade connectors, another part says they were included. I probably needed them and as I recall, they were the yellow ones. When I swapped mine out, I think the whole process took perhaps 1 1/2 - 2 hours? The SECOND set was a LOT faster and easier than the first as by then, I'd finally figured it out. I don't know what the AP12-350 is, but the ES5800 is the part that will directly feed your tweeter. It will also have some pins and a pin connector that you can move about some, changing the output of your tweeter. I belive all that is mentioned on his website. Go to his website, on the left, click on "Klipsch" and once you get there, you will see some upgrade choices with various slopes assigned to them. I'd say, just go to the steepest slope and look at those. As has been said, Al will be happy to help & talk to you about it. Just don't hold him accountable for his spelling mistakes! [6]
  20. 1. Swap them (entire speakers) out for Jubilees 2. Swap your crossovers out for Al K's "extreme slope" networks. I had them and loved them 3. Swap out your midrange/tweet for Al's 'trachorn' upgrade and slap a JBL 2404 tweet in there. I was GOING to do the Trachorn upgrade (I DID do the extreme slope & JBL's) but ended up selling the Khorns altogether. I DO think the single largest change I made that made the most initial impact, was the JBL 2104 tweeters. Then I bought the Jubilees and found the shoe that steps on all others. []
  21. You guys know the drill... just a couple of big ole ugly black boxes sitting in the corner with them big horns on top []
  22. I agree that it's good to see them listed somewhere however (cough), it might be pointed out that you can get a pair of Jubilees delivered to your door and save OVER $500 from that listed price. Only downside, no crossover and some think, a huge horn on top... oh, and black or unfinished unless you want to pay Klipsch more to veneer it. []
  23. She cornered him for 3 hours last year in our fireplace. Our fireplace is a ventless type. [&]
