  1. @wuzzzer and @Invidiosulus please keep flaging the spammers. Unfortunately, if they start the thread, like the Restoring Deleted Music post, it hides the entire thread, sorry about that guys.

I don't approve of anybody who posts a first-time message that isn't Klipsch or at least audio-related. What Book are You Reading, Non-profits, etc. they don't get approved by me, if I'm on call when they come up for approval I don't. If they are approved before I see it then need the alerts to catch them. If you haven't posted Klipsch in your first 5 posts I get rid of them. They seem to be sneakier now, they don't post a hidden hyperlink on their first post, wait for a few posts. It is a constant pattern, probably the same off-shore people.

Either they make money on the click-throughs on the hyperlinks, or they are trying to find access to also run scams in the Garage Sale. Most, not all, have been less than 5 posts so they can't PM. But there is one at about 15.

I have been meaning to thank both of you for what you have been doing, please keep doing it as I can't keep up with all of them.

I thought they were consecutive but just realized they’re 1 number off. I’m currently located in South Georgia (US) on the coast. They mostly have water marks on the top from drinks and rubs on the corners. Also the speaker fabric looks like it should be replaced 😬

That's pretty typical, after a restoraition or two most owners go with glass tops for that very thing. Nice music, cocktails, some wine, it pretty easy to see what the drinks are going to end up no matter what you try to do to avoid that.

Some some of the next questions you may have might be should you restore to maximize price. I can tell you what the general consensus has been. Unless you have significant experience with wood refinishing, have access to everything you need, it is typically not worth it. For either the grilles or to refinish both speakers/tops.

We get about 2 - 4 inquiries a year exactly like yours. Sometimes the speakers look just like what you have, sometimes, brand new out of a box (literally).

For those like yours, I don't think the recommendation has ever been do the restoration and sell, always the opposite, not worth the time, effort for the return (unless you happen to own a furniture refinishing/repair or that is already you favorite hobby).

Some people hang on to their receipts, other Klipsch paperwork they received with the speaker,  if that was passed along you, be sure to mention that it will add a little value.

I don't think the speakers would have historical significance that the Klipsch Museum of Audio History would be interested in them, but I will confirm with the Curator, Jim Hunter. Even then, it would be more of a situation of a donation and you could write off their full market value on your taxes.

If you are looking for cash, I think the advice you have gotten thus far has been excellent. Put them in the Garage Sale Section when you have established a price, with the location of town or city near you, and they frequently go for a reasonable price. Be wary of newer members, or offers to send you more than you are asking, refund the difference, etc., internet scams using fack money orders, cashiers checks. Anybody how has been around here awhile you won't run into that problem, but brand new members we have no way of knowing. You would want an in-person, cash transaction.

No commission, sellers fees with Garage Sale, and people can keep a friendly eye on you. There are some Facebook groups that are Klipsch related, and also Vintage Hi-Fi on Facebook where things like this are bought and sold, again no fees, but SELLER beware. You might be able to get slightly higher prices on those, it is up and down.

    My two cents.

It's just that Profit is not distributed To Stock Holders

Bingo, or to Board Members. Can't distribute assets except to another 501(c)(3); a qualified educational facility, or governmental entity.

You started seeing "Not For Profit" and "NFP" more to make that very point Duke, not really non-profit, but more, primary purpose isn't profit.

Museums, hospitals, the arts like the local symphony, community theater, none of them, continue to operate unless their revenues exceed their expenses and they establish reserves.

Also, if you have any input as to the potential value, it would be appreciated ** Thanks in advance!!

We can help with that, your general locations, and photos of both speakers, including warts, dings, water damage, etc. would help.

Location plays a factor, as well as condition. Overall, they have been going up in value.

    Welcome!

you are not entertaining thoughts of parting with them !

    English translation.

You have some of the greatest loudspeakers ever made, still capable of producing excellent sound exactly the same as they did starting back in '63 or '64. If at all possible, you should let us assist you with restoring the Crossover networks and then you should set them up in some corners and play them. If you haven't heard them, you deserve a listen. Room permitting, you won't find a better-sounding system and they will give you years of enjoyment.

Whoever ordered these originally was an audio aficionado and wanted the best money could buy in audio.

Too often people are turned off by the shear size and weight (they go in corners so they actually take up unused, wasted space frequently), or think they are complicated to set up and play. They are not. They don't require expensive equipment to use. You probably already have all you need to start playing them to see what all the fuss in about.

The speaker is still in production today, 78 years later, longer than any other speaker ever made.

If you have children who enjoy music they will thank you for it. Or, if you have neighbors you don't particularly like, these are for you.

As least give them a try, and if not possible, we will help you look as other options with good solid data.

I think that is what grasshopper was trying to say.

Very beautiful, no doubt at all.

Palliduims were done in "Linia wood" in a horizontal aebra pattern, 3 stains. I am not sure exactly what Linea wood is, except that it is a high-end man-made veneer (using real wood). The process allows for different patterns, etc. that you cannot get from a normal wood veneer process.

"The P-39F features what Klipsch calls a ‘Linia’ veneer. Linia is a very close match to zebrawood. It is a hand-selected zebra-grain veneer produced from real wood; tree sources include the Ayous, Obeche and Italian Poplar. These trees are part of a government-sanctioned controlled harvest, so they are a renewable wood resource."

These high-end, man-made veneers with real wood are typically 10X the cost of even more expensive wood veneers such as rosewood or teak.

I would love it if they offered some exotic veneer like they did on their WF-35 series. In my opinion, this was the nicest finish on any Klipsch factory speaker.

I believe those are Berlinia/Ebiara, also called "Red Zebrawood". The Zebrawood is a nickname, Berlina is a different family than Zebrawood. Sawdust from Zebrawood is toxic and is banned in the EU.

So it's a possibility. Will pass it along. Actually, as things get rolling I may start an informal poll. Don't know that it will do any good, but at least I can forward the input.

Sustainability: This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. However, certain species of Berlinia are listed as endangered (B. hollandii) or vulnerable (B. occidentalis and B. orientalis), though they do not appear to be among the commonly traded species sold as Ebiara.

Travis has a release date been announced on the Heritage sub?  Will there be more than one option and wood grain?  TIA.

You know, they may ask the participants market research questions, they did at the last class. When it get's closer I may do an informal poll on here that I will pass along for whatever it's worth.

I have gone through many of the brochures in the archives, from about 1955 to at least mid '80s. Wood finish and stain color is very much cyclical, just like fashion. Darker colors, lighter colors.

"I'm an oak man myself, are you an oak man Jimmy?" - Mr. Wolf. Oak was all over the brochures in 80s.

Late 50s into early 60s Teak and Primivera (lighter, modern).

    So we will see.

    Hi John!

All I can tell you is what I have seen Roy post here, and other social media.

    4 Sizes.

Scheduled for Spring release. But Roy doesn't sign off on anything until he feels they are ready. I'm sure if all had their druthers they would be good to go by this Holiday Season but he has told them to do right, Spring. One lousy, stinking part can be an unexpected delay.

At the class, he will be demonstrating all (some may be finished, some naked prototypes) and how to get the proper extension with all speakers. A dive into electronics, etc.

I get information, with others on my team, on a "need to know"  which means the amount of information to properly arrange for the class, proper facilities, equipment, etc. We did get some more photos which we incorporate into the flyer (Monday if not sooner), and associated materials.

Woods available, it is my complete and total speculation that they will select woods/stain that would have the most potential for sales. Which would be the current lineup (Black, Cherry and Walnut????) and possibly some others that had significant sales over the years, but that's a total guess. I don't know if they will be offered raw.

I lot of these questions we will be able to answer after the class, but I anticipate as with the past two classes, there are some that they are working out. One thing I learned being involved in the Museum Edition team, there are a great many aspects to building production speakers that I had never even considered, and there is a considerable amount I don't know. There are multiple supply chains and so forth.

I am changing my listening room and want to place my equipment on sidewall, not between speakers. The room is 5.7 meter wide and 6.6 meter deep.

why do we always place it middle.

I know speaker cables would be shorter, but if they are 6 feet longer does it really matter?

I am using Cornwall 4 and Cary 80HS

the reason i can’t test is because my stuff is in storage while remodelling.

please tell me it will be okey. I am keen for different layout in my room.

    Thanks for great forum.

    Welcome.

Because we like to look at our glowing tubes or blue meters. Just esthetics, nothing more. Never understood why people put monoblock amps directly on the floor either.

As you surmise, an additional 6', 10', even 25' will make no audible difference.

I think you will see more and more move their racks to the side to make room for the new Heritage Sub that's been announced to sit up front with their Heritage speakers.

    Welcome to the Forum.
