  1. whats up with this, 30 views and not one reply. surely someone on this forum must have heard this THX line up. heres an article on this series: http://www.klipsch.com/news/feature.aspx?id=1253
  2. Pako , VERY nice system. Im still at the synergy level.I was looking at your pics and the ceiling, don't those tiles rattle?
  3. has anyone heard the THX line of speakers from Klipsch. if so, how does it compare to the reference line(it probably doesn't compare??). I've read a little about it and sounds like its very impressive . I can't find any prices on it either(no Im not in the market for anything like this right now). I think one of their whole packages(5-7 speakers and 2 subs and amp) cost like 10 to 15 grand but I could be wrong. could anyone tell me what these speakers cost. scp53
  4. fzzytddybr1 - Id like to see that room that you have. Can a room really change size? wow..zer. never heard of that one. pretty cool.
  5. this is a very interesting thread...
  6. thanks for all the replies. I ll either buy a svs or might do a diy sub. svs was my first choice but my parents limit how big it can be(I still have 1 year left of hs). any good recommendations for a diy sub that cost between 250-400 dollars thats good for home theater in a 18x20 foot room with synergy speakers(maybe there isn't one?). thanks again, scp53
  7. Does your center match with you mains? If they do then I d go with the SB 3's. It should have a little more low end than the ss-1. but the ss-1's will provide better/more even coverage when set up properly. good luck on you choice. scp53
  8. WOW. very impresive. how long did it take to put the whole system together. with those svs subs, you must have some extreme low end. what freqency are they playing down to?

    HT spl?

InnovaZero, will 105 db of spl shake the floor? I don't need overwelming bass/engulfing bass(like what THX specifies), just something that can be felt reasonably. scp53

    HT spl?

does any one here have a Dayton Titanic Subwoofer kit, either the 10" or 12" one. Id like to know how well it performs for home theater. correction: above I stated 15x20 foot room, it actually more like 18x20 foot from wall to wall.

    HT spl?

is 105 db output from a sub ok? Im not a bass head but I do like to feel explosions or other lf effects. Would the Dayton Titanic MK3 10" kit be comparable to the KLipsch RW-10 in a home theater setup? last question: does rattling/shaking bass come from distortion in the sound? If the bass is supper tight(like the titanic 10" kit, or so Ive been told its tight), will you be able to feel it as well as a more distorted subwoofer? oh yea, my room is about 15 X 20 feet and on second floor with ceramic tile. Im running klipsch synergy series on a yamaha rx-v420. thanks for any advice, scp53
  12. I would say that they are worth buying. What are you looking for in them- good low response, loudness, etc. I have SB-3's, same woofer and compression tweeter/horn as SF-3's except the SF-3's have dual woofers. If you have a good powered sub or don't care about response below 50 hz, save your self some money and buy these. They will defineltly play LOUD enough. What do the SF-3's cost any way. I thought thy cost around $700-$800. SB-3's only cost $450. but it all depends on what your using them for scp53
  13. I just added some breif specs to my profile. Im going to measure the room and will put them in my profile to. scp53
  14. I actually asked Kipsch a while ago for my SB-3's and they said light won't lead to premature wear of the cone or surround. So light won't affect them but I m sure that heat could. If your speakers are close to a furnace vent you should probably move them . the heat could dry the surrounds out over time. scp53
  15. why are you selling these? you upgrading? Looks like your speakers are in very good condition. scp53
  16. I forgot to add that there are two composite paper woofers. one active and one passive. the active one is downfiring and passive is the one seen in the picture. The amp is 150 watts RMS. freq- 27-120 hz (±3dB), and has clipping protection along with subsonic filter( 18dB@25Hz). scp53
  17. would some somebody who has heard/owns this sub give me some advice. heres a pic of the TB1212- oh yea, and it sells for $349 there website link to this sub is http://www.dcmspeakers.com/subwoofer/tb1212.cfm
  18. hummmmmmmmmm... GOOD QUESTIONS. I can answer some of your questions. I think the sub is 70 contiuous power.high frequency crossover is at 5khz. What kind of range do you want to modify to? less than 30 hz? Why not buy a add on sub that goes lower? If you modify you will void your warrenty. goodluck, scp53
  19. has anyone ever had DCM subwoofers. I demoed one the other day(the TB1212) and was pretty impressed with how tight and low it was. I posted something about building one but now that I've heard this one, I might not need to build one. I played a variety of music on it and also LOTR The Two Towers and bass was very good. The room I was in was set up as a living room and had a cement floor and I still felt it hit hard 15-20 ft away. what do you think of this sub??
  20. you can use news paper? cool have you played this yet, I don't think you've said how it sounds. Im planning on build a subwoofer with a 15inch DVC woofer. I started a new thread(under powered subwoofers) and have some questions about building it. maybe you could read it and help me out scp53
  21. I am going to build a subwoofer in the next month and have a few questions. (im going to use this subwoofer for music but needs to be able to shake and rumble well in HT) 1st- does it matter if you have spikes on the cabinet vs setting the whole bottom side on the floor? I've heard that it can increase output and help with imaging. 2nd- has anyone had experience with dayton DVC(dual voice coil) 12 or 15 woofers? from a few reviews from people that have it, sounds like there very well built for the money. I've looked at the specs: 600w RMS (both v-coils),vc-diameter-2inches, 90db 1watt/1meter, stamped steel basket(heavy gauge), 5year warrenty, 15mm xmax, and fs is 20hz). to me this is a bargain for the price:$130 There was another thread talking about building a sub with the DVC 12 but I don't think he said anything about its performance(i think its because its not all finished?) 3rd- could someone explain SPL: 90 dB 1W/1m, 93.4 dB @ 2.83V/1m . whats up with 2.83? for those wondering what I'm going to drive it with, I'm going to buy a 250watt rms(4-ohms) classA/B amp. Id buy something bigger but my budget limits me. a 500 watt amp would cost me over twice the price of the 250. and I don't think adding a another 250 watts of pwr will make a big difference. It would basically add more head room for peaks in movies. thanks in advance for any help, scp53
  22. will this affect sound quality in any way??? scp53
  23. Milton, the specs on the sb1 and sb3 tweeters are different. sb1- phenolic, sb3- aluminum dome. will this affect the speakers matching up? scp53
