  1. CL2 rated is the twisted speaker wire. That is what I use for long runs. The regular speaker wire for shorter runs (less than 50 ft or so). I thought CL2 was wire rated for in-wall use.
  2. Jeff, is this a 2 channel setup, HT, or combo?
  3. Keep us posted, I'll be very interested in your progress as I'm sure I'll be following in your "footsteps".
  4. Use the known good parts from the good speaker to diagnose the bad one as Pete stated.
  5. Pete, I played soccer for 38 years, right up to the 3'rd surgery on my right knee. My next surgery will be a replacement but I plan on putting it off as long as possible. I have however done a bunch of reading on the subject (which I'm sure you have too). I don't plan on going down that road untill the pain is absolutely unbearable. Under those circumstances I'd consider it, but only under those circumstances. If you're bone on bone and can barely move then it's a good decision. If you have knee pain and think a replacement will bring your knee up to youthful specs, don't do it. Carl
  6. Welcome to the forum. If you post a "Want to buy" thread in the garage sale section you may get lucky.
  7. Absolutely check out Monoprice before you buy cabling of any kind.
  8. It looks like it's now named Nate. It also looks like Mike in Corpus may get something from this one. If not a hit, at least he'll be on the wet side of it.
  9. Well, if you guys can come up with a FLAT speaker, it will be the best you've ever heard. Actually, it will be the best anybody has ever heard. Then, we can start weeding out the engineers... Dave Klipschapan.
  10. What's up with that area to the north west of the Yucatan?
  11. I've got mine on a 300wpc pro-amp. How much were you going to send yours?
  12. FL for the time being. I think forum member Youthman is located somewhere around you. You should PM him and let him know what you're looking for, he finds some crazy deals at times.
  13. 50% at San Jose, CA. 50% at Panama City Beach, FL. Where will the sub reside?
  14. If you're looking for something that sounds good with music, an EQ is a must. Some subs like SVS (and others) have a single band PEQ that's built into the plate amp.
  15. What's your location (in the present that is)?
  16. Clean as much of the old glue out as possible and run a bead of PL Premium around the panels. Let it dry for 24 hours and put it back together.
  17. As with anything else, used is a much larger bang for the buck than new. I'd keep an eye out in the Garage Sale section. There's some really nice stuff over there that pops up from time to time. You can't be in a hurry though.
  18. The only room treatments you'll need as far as subwoofers go is bass traps. They tend to be larger than normal acoustical panels. If you go the bass trap route, you'll want to do that BEFORE any EQ'ing or room corrective software is run with your HT.
  19. Okay, first thing first. For 2-Channel music, a sub is not really important but it would be nice for classical materials. You'll be surprised how much a good sub will add to music, especially with Heritage speakers. For Home Theathre, it is a necessity. I don't want to build one since I have no time and I don't want to spend an arm an a leg for it, should be under $750. Do you care if it's used or does it need to be new? The room is about 20' x 30' with two openings, one on the left side and one on the bottom right side. However, please correct me if I am wrong, but I think that no matter how the room look, (i.e. number of openings, large or small) the sub placement should not be a factor if I get the right sub. The size of the room matters if you're planning on getting good coverage for the entire room. A room that big with those openings won't "pressurize" like a smaller room with no openings. A smaller sub will definitely be noticed but may not keep up with your mains at louder listening levels.
  20. You forgot to mention my stunning good looks. That alone is worth another doo wacka doo.
  21. It rained here ALL day today. You can just hear the ground say aaaaaaaah.
  22. Never heard of them. Can you pull the drivers and access the insides through the driver holes?
  23. The worst part was that I knew exactly what you were asking!
