  1. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX 52 TX, RF-7's and RC-7, with KG-4s in the rear/side. I like it, it is very versitile. I've had it for about a year and a half with no problems. It will play louder than I care to hear, no complaints from me.
  2. If "Who's on the album?" then What is on the CD?[:$]
  3. A simple prayer offered for those who mourn: Almighty and eternal God, in whose hands are life and death, we come into Your presence to plead for all who mourn. Even as Your Son was moved to weep over the death of His friend Lazarus, so we know that You are touched by the tears of those who grieve over the loss of dear ones. In Your divine providence fill the achin void in their hearts with Your comforting presence, and wipe all tears from their eyes. Source of all consolation, raise them up with the hope in Christ. Reassure them of an eternal reunion in Your presence with their beloved, whom You have called to eternal peace and immeasurable joy in heaven. In their loneliness draw them closer to You. O Lord, cause the sorrow of separation to make the survivors more understanding of the grief of others and more ready to comfort them in their needs. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who died that we might live forever. Amen.
  4. In 1970 my sister came home from college and introduced us all to this guy she married. They are still married. My future brother in law was very patient and took me with him to look at audio gear - I was eleven - but shopping for gear was so cool. He taught me things like "watts per channel" and "RMS" and "total harmonic distortion" as well as two way and three way speakers. Couple years later they are married. I go to their house and he lets me play his hi fi stereo as loud as I wanted. It was a top of the line Marantz receiver with a Thorens turntable and two of the best speakers I had ever heard - Heresys. He still has those and they still sound great.
  5. Perhaps the evil (and hilarious) thebes has thwarted beloved Gil.
  6. Is this worth much? http://cgi.ebay.com/HARMON-KARDON-FESTIVAL-TA-230-TUBE-AMPLIFIER-RECEIVER_W0QQitemZ5876837487QQcategoryZ73369QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. Congratulations on the KG4's. I really like mine. The KG4's are great Rock-n-Roll speakers, but they also don't need to be driven to extreme volume the make them sound good. My RF-7's need a little volume before the get really good. At lower (my girlfriend says normal) levels the 4's may even be better. ENJOY.
  8. I'll second the vote for early Elton J. some very nice lyrics.
  9. Last year I got a CD at a Hallmark card store called "James Taylor, A Christmas Album" not James Taylor's best work but pleasant. Several years ago I bought Harry Connick, Jr. "When My Heart Finds Christmas" I haven't listened to it this year. As I recall it is ok. I really enjoy Diana Krall: "Christmas Songs" currently this is my favorite Christmas CD.
  10. Thanks for the welcome. Strong opinions are fine, but I'm humbled when I read these forums and realize I know so little and so many know so much more than me. Doug
  11. I don't have the first CD either, my version of Born to Run was on Maxell cassette tape and played mostly on pretty bad car stereos or with my old HK 3500 and JBL L-26's. Obviously there is no comparison here. While listening to the CD on my rf-7's, it occurred to me there is a "wall of sound" quality still there. It is a lot more than just a wall of sound. There is so much definition to the instruments - much to be explored on this recording. This band could play!!! I'm glad I forked over the $30.00. More than well worth it. I have to say I had kind of forgotten how finely crafted these songs are. These lyrics are very well written - the music is top notch rock-n-roll I like the sound quality too; but I've only listened once. As I listened I wished they would remaster E-Street Shuffle this well. I'd like to disclaim a little - I'm only throwing in my opinion, if you disagree please don't come to my home and murder me in my sleep - or think ill of me.
  12. The d-link streamer I was looking at says it supports Ogg Vorbis, but does not say it supports FLAC, (WMA files too, but I have not been able to get good sound out of WMA) Is the vorbis fomat any good?
  13. Does any one have any experience with devices such as the Roku Sound Bridge or the D-Link Wireless g Media Center or any machine that will stream media from pc to audio system? (I would probably do it through my wired network rather than wirelessly for now.) Is the sound qaulity from these deals worth listening to?
  14. James Gang - Funk 49 Steve Miller - Fly Like an Eagle -OR- ANY Etta James.

Of course, I lie a lot too! ---------------- I have two Bose 301's; they convinced me I had to have my RF-7's. (The 301s are no longer hooked up.) At least I have Bose to thank for having decent sound. I guess Bose does rule.
  16. This is Jack. He can be an inspiration to those who love to nap.
  17. This is one of my Cocker Spaniels. She is Jessie, the pic is a couple years old. The pics on this post are great. I'll put Jessie's brother up in a minute.
  18. I have KG4's and they are very nice sounding speakers. If you like decent sound IMHO it would be worth a little time and effort to fix them.
