  1. Don't sweat it. Look I'm from the old school in fact look how I put out a fire. Add the Bi-Carbonate and stand back!
  2. Greg, Heres manditory gear for listening with those drivers. Your basement is now a basement/bomb shelter!!! LOL!
  3. If you don't hear a huge difference between your old Dual and the TD-124/SME/Denon then you might as well sell your entire system and buy an ipod with a Bose docking station!! [:$]
  4. Yeah this guy's a freak. I heard he has another 3,000 records on top of these in his daughters bedroom which she is not to happy about. I do like how he painted that ugly old Rek-O-Kut table in the middle to a more modern looking black. It also looks like he's shined up a nice Akai reel to reel and restored his dad's ols JVC TT way on the left. LOL!
  5. Rob, I just lost my wife of 13 years 2 months ago. We were together 15 years total. No warning. Just gone. I'm here if you need me. I know what your dealing with. Charlie
  6. I do not understand this guy. A couple months back I offered to buy this from this ad at 1100. He said someone was before me. Then I saw them for 950 I offered again. He said he would get back to me. Now 750 I offered again as Im onlt a couple hours away?? WTF???
  7. BTW With some help of some great members here I got the Klipsch portion of my system up and running without missing a beat. Thanks. You know who you are. Thanks.
  8. The TT on the left is my dedicated 78 spinner along with the homebrew amp and phono stage on the 3rd shelve down on the right. It feeds the single Klipsch Heresy in the center. The rest is my stereo gear wich is the MMF-5 going to the plinius Jarrah to the Bottlehead pre to the 6l6 amps to the Klipsch Chorus speakers. It's not what I had before but its a good 70% of what I had in sound quality for a lot less money.
  9. The prices were very reasonable for the stuff I bought. Mostly every single person walked by the stuff I got without even looking. I'm glad they did![]
  10. It was a fun time. I have always felt like I could really belong somewhere in the 40's-50's. Vinyl tubes horns .....I mean I'm there now in a way. Good times indeed. Do not get me wrong I love my computer but given a choice..... I love my records.
  11. Rek-O-Kut LP-743 with General Electric arm and GE variable reluctance cartridge!
  12. Yeah it was pretty neat. Here's a few pictures. http://www.getyourpics.net/estatesale/
  13. Ok I just got back. Well I have never really been to an estate sale. The house where it was is a massive 2 story house and the couple lived there in the 30' and 40's then were sent to the Japanese camps somewhere around 1943 from what I gather. They must have been pretty well off as the house was massive. after the war they never went back to the house. I do not know why. I wish I knew more about the people who lived there but I do not.The sale was to be at 8 am and my daughter and I got there at 7:30 and there was a huge line of around 50 people waiting to get in. I did not like the fast pace grab and go but I quickly adjusted and soon my daughter was guarding dozens of records, 2 old tube radios with walnut cabinets, 2 turntables one a mint condtion REK-O-KUT model LP-743 with a GE tonearm, a spotless Hallicrafters S-40 tube SW receiver, and a Victor Electrola tube console record player with a UTAH 12" speaker!!!!!!!!!! As far as the records there were many 78's. I know nothing about 78's but they are in nice shape. There were MANY Mercury Living Presence LP's that I do know about and they were in AWESOME shape. Can you also say "Verve"? The radios will need a good checkup and tuneup and I'm in no hurry but there was amazing stuff there. The place was like a 1940's time capsule! I will start taking pics tonight and could use some help probably on the 78's like I said. I'm sure if I would have known anything about glassware or furniture I probably walked right passed some great stuff but I do not know anything about that stuff and the back of my truck was full when I came home anyway!!!
  14. I want to see an article on the short lived profession of the tube amp licker!
  15. Geez that is too funny, I think? Now I'm not sure maybe it's sick? Oh well I prize my records, but not to the point of any licking going on. Not yet anyway.[]
  16. FWIW the pair I owned hummed like a "moaning banshee" through my Khorns on silent passages and with no music ! LOL! That said they did sound really good though with some Electro Harmonix 2A3 Gold Grids. BTW Welcome to the forum Stephen.
  17. I would never say those amps are the worst I have heard. I owned a pair for quite a while and I have definatly owned worse sounding amps that cost more. Hope you get the Khorns BTW!
