  4. Thanks, I figured the speed of sound was constant, your explanation makes sense concerning arrival time perception. So many variables in this hobby. Greg
  5. I currently use a simple Rane 2way without a time delay function.I have been kicking around the idea of upgrading to an active with it. I am trying to understand how to implement delay in my system.I have my speakers stacked at this time. From the bottom up it is the Bagend sub,Scala bass bin then on top the 511B/902.The concept of driver alingment in the vertical plane makes sense. What has me confused is the speed of various freqencies.Am I right thinking that a 10000hz sound would reach the listening position faster than say a 20hz sound?I have read that delay is implemented on the high freqency driver to bring the drivers back into or compensate for misalignment of the drivers. In my mind I am thinking that the high frequency driver is not phisically aligned to begin with and because of the higher frequencies reproduced it should seem closer in alignment than the phisical orientation would suggest.I remember reading somewhere about moving the tweeter back to the rear of a K-horn to improve the response as compared to the mid driver in the time domain. I hope I have worded this correct. Greg
  6. It sure does look good in the pic. Greg
  7. An adittional note is that to recieve a HD signal off the airwaves you need a HD antena and it would most likely have to be connected to the HD box supplied by the cable server. Greg
  8. Dude you need to hit refresh once in awhile,I have been on the site since 6pm. Greg
  9. I have heard that one too many times.Probably the same ones change thier minds after a few years with someone.I know from expierience.I fit the description of everything these freakin women want and its still not good enough.Tom you were right in another thread...nice guys finish last.WOMEN OF AMERICA..WAKE THE F^&%$#@ UP AND GET YOUR SH!T TOGETHER,quit blaming failed relationships on men!!!LOOK in a mirror!!! Sorry, just venting! Greg
  10. Tried one of these before,Performance like a ksw12,Not very impressive[] OK.at least you have heard one.Interesting different impressions.Hard to recommend anything around here, best I just not to go there. Greg
  11. Thebes, Thank you for the compliment! What is it that caught you eye? Hello, Like Thebes I was droolin' on that pic, what caught my eye was the funky looking tube on the right with the wires connected to it.Can you expain that one please. Greg
  12. Interesting, dual 10's makes a lot more sense [] I guess the only downside is the complete lack of power and the only question in my mind is how linear does it behave at normal volumes (as it will be operating closer to its max than a sub capable of way more). It probably doesn't have the dynamic tracking ability to keep up with horns...(which is one of the things Klipsch stresses a lot in their subwoofer designs - thus all the punchy comments). Mike, Your probably right about dynamics but then you might be surprised.I guess I should have said this would be a good match for the smaller Heritage line,no way does it keep up with the bigger boys.I saw it on audiogon and remembered my listening expierience as positive. So I threw it out there.BTW have you heard it in a system,it is very musical and can punch when needed(My impressions were in a romm 10'x18'). Greg
  13. Here is an interesting article on the speaker motor and its various parts.Types of magnets are explained as well. http://yu-ra.tripod.com/motor.htm Greg
  14. Mike, The specs are at this review link http://www.museelectronics.com/18_91.pdf I have heard this sub in a 2 channel music machine and was impressed with it ability to blend with and not destroy the higher freqencies passed thru it.Probably not a great HT sub depending on the size of the room. Greg
  15. Colin, Well said...sometimes it's hard to spot these tube haters, lol!!!! Greg
  16. Here is a sub for consideration http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?homesubw&1156441804 a link to the Muse site and the review by Stereophile http://www.museelectronics.com/18.html Greg
  17. Thanks guys for the kind words. I am at work and thought I would check the thread.Last night then some time off. Greg
  18. SET sounds otherworldly, like nothing you've ever heard before. I mean that in a bad sense. If realism is what you're after, forget SET. It isn't just a question of how loud something plays, it is how it sounds when it is played loud. Low watt SET amps act as limiters to full range music, and when asked to play demanding material, compress its dynamic range to mushy sameness. In an attemp to avoid the above I have gone to an actively biamped configuration with SET amps for the highs and SS for lows.It sounds very good and takes advantage of the qualities I enjoy in both designs. Greg
  19. Hello, Yes I have had Bryston amps in my system for about 20 years.Currently I have a 3B and a 4B.They are well regarded by consumers and considered great bang for the buck. They also offer a 20 year transferable warranty. You can find them on ebay and audiogon frequently for a decent price. Greg
  20. Paul, I can check on some prices with local shippers, and would deliver to them in my local area.I would guess ground frieght is the cheapest. The packaging I spoke of for $350 was to China and maybe more than normal because of it.The $600 mentioned earlier was figuring in that $350.I do remember something about $125ea. for transit in the past.Sounds like it would be in the ballpark. Greg
  21. Paul, I was going to ship these to China last month. The total shipping was going to be about $1500.Included in that price was $350 for the packaging. To Texas I have no Idea.I would guess around $600 total. Greg
  22. Mike you said: "I am very much against Nationalism and all for a global society. Who cares if America falls - the world will probably become a better place". Well I very much care if America falls!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe you said that, think about that statement. Greg
