  1. Well now you see(heard)what I try to explain to most here.A low bro reciever no matter who made it has a whimpy amplifier. The whimpy amp will have to be boosted and boosted and even then the bass is anemic at best. Even your much better Sony reciever had to be BOOSTED with loudness and bass knobs all the way to the max to give you a bass punch. A great amp can give you all this and way more on a flat setting! And again I have to bring up Bryston and Krell and Kraft(no not Kraft macaroni N cheese LOL) Symponic line the absolute reference in bass.No other amps can match the bass these bass meisters kick.Any speaker, even the Klipsch SB-2 wake up and dish tight and awesome bass,a thing they will never do on any reciever. Ok this said its time to get a good reciever, the Outlaw around $500 is a great inbexpensive reciever. After you may get a deal on a Denon 3801,great deals can still be had, great reciever! And if you can stretch your budget a bit(LOL)get a Denon 4800(disco also!)and you may say WOW. Oh I cant wait my RF-7's are coming this week! YESSS LOL RF-7's with FPB600 = EFORTLESS POWER With 102dB with 1 W at 1 meter these can punch a hole in the drywall! And bass will be plenty I can guarantee this. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  2. No such thing as "1/2 the woofer diameter between the port and the wall" where did you hear about this? I have the RF-5,RB-5,RB-3,SB-2,Quintets,Dynaudio Contour 3.3,1.1's and all sound best when at least a good 2-3 feet from the wall(back of the speaker of course). The imaging and midrange and bass definition drops when speakers are too close to walls. Only the large and deep NHT speakers are built to be very close to the wall(back wall). They are very deep and the front is almost always 3 feet and over from the back wall. The Klipsch Horn and some other specific speakers are also designed to use corners or be very close to walls. The Synargy and Reference Klipsch sound best a good 2-4 from the wall(back of speaker). 3. True Klipsch ProMedias can pound dB's like few multimedia speakers can. I had the three(even four if I count the V.2-400's)and I had two systems with problems(2.1 and 4.1 the amp ran HOT)the rest was good. For the price and for PC use these are good speakers. With all the complaints its good to read a positive input. Overall my experience with Klipsch ProMedia is good. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  4. Justin how surprising to see you here! NOT Stop bashing the BASH amplifier.BASH works great in my KSW15 and even Infinity uses the BASH type amp in thier Tntermezzo and Prelude MTS subs! BASH aint trash.LOL Dont bash TheEAR(s) now. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  5. Yep a Denon 1802 is a good match, you dont need a Denon 5800 for the ProMedia sats...then again it would be Homer like. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  6. DanF could probably tell you the resistor value. If I had this Promedia set at home I would tell you,I have no Promedias at home now. DanF is the resident techie on these boards. Good luck, TheEAR(s) Now theears
  7. No problem, its always good to help. And you are right Splinter care should be taken when removing the sub plate.Screws are "painted" black,if there is any serious problem under the warrantry and Klipsch sees the screws were removed then the warranty may be voided! Go slowly and you should keep screws in perfect shape. Keep screws in perfect shape...LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  8. Speakers should ALWAYS stay away from heat sources. The main reason is the speaker sourrounds will dry fast and crack! This is the primary cause of speaker going bad after the physical damage of overpowering the speakers(and amp clip). And speakers should not be placed in direc sunlight, this will damage the cabinet(UV rays are not only bad for living creatures like...humans)and again the sourrounds(often foam)will dry up and fall apart after several years. So keep AWAY the speakers from radiating heat sources,I had almost killed my sourround on my Sunfire active driver!I forgot to put some Mink oil in the driver sourrounds and the driver was too close to an electrical heating radiator!I saw it on time and now its solved,I put Mink oil on ALL driver shourrounds. I doubt you need to do the same if the sats and sub are not in direct sunlight or away from heatsources. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  9. Ok here a 4.1 ProMedia speaker set has plenty of bass as it is.The ProMedia 2.1's have more watts per bass driver and the limiter is not set to kick in as fast. So when you use two 2.1 sets you get more bass punch and you can place to subs to get an even bass around the room(you only really need good bass at listening position here). I would say the 4.2 set is close to the ProMedia 5.1 in terms of bass punch. The 5.1 have even more punch and hit harder. The 5.1's also use two 8" woofers! After to get more you need to combine Klipsch Quintets with a KSW12 sub and a mid priced reciever like a Denon or Harman Kardon. Then you het the WHOLE multimedia experience. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  10. Good idea this is the method I always point to powered speaker users. This way you eleiminate the SC and if the problem persists you contact Klipsch tech support. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  11. Spaceman if you want to be 100% sure if its a speaker problem get a stereo 1/8" to mono 1/8" adaptor from the Rat Shack(should not even cost $2) and use it on the front 1/8" input. Now the signal your front ProMedia channels get is the same. Do you still hear the same problem? If one channel is still louder then the speakers(amp section may have a problem). If the volume is the identical then it was the sound card(check the balance DOH). Good luck, TheEAR(s) Now theears
  12. The BIG Velodyne HGS-18 will give you deeper bass and big output. The HGS-18 can dig as low as 15Hz with ease! WHO CAN BEAT THIS? Velodyne HGS15 and 18 are true sub sub-woofer,a sub for a subwoofer! LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  13. MBM135 you got that right!A Harman Kardon 50W high current amp will beat the overblown Sony "high power" jobber with no trouble at all.And sound better too! The Klipsch KSW12 is a great inexpensive sub, good performance and easy to set up. If you can spend just a bit more the SVS or HSU subs will give you more bass and high quality bass aplenty. 14. Colin you should write ProMedia sub reviews and not Krell Master Reference stand up comdey type "review". The fact you gave the lowest overall rating just tells me this "review" is a joke. No please just to amuse some clown go and hatch a review on the Krell FPB600 and say its just a bit better then reciever amps.LOL No serious audiophile will ever trust a site like AudioReview. On AudioReview any Joe Blow can post his "review" about any product and bash the product just because he cant(read will never be able)to buy one(if he will then he/she will have to sell his/her internal organs to doit!) LOL LOL and LOL squared Now dont for get to bash Dynaudio speakers and Celeste MOON power amps.Go and have fun, just know the interested buyer will not read comdy and take it seriously. Even if you say(and I agree)the Krell Master Reference Sub is too expensive and overbuilt it does not mean its a piece of garbage like your rating yould indicate. And FYI the LF10 and KSW200 are no class leaders and never were.My Sunfire Mark II killed the LF10 in a side by side A/B test.Hear that Colin ...I had the Klipsch LF-10 besides the Sunfire Mark II and I was surprised just how superior the Sunfire was,in bass quality and quantity. Just ask yourself why Klipsch discontinued the LF series so fast? HMMMM LOL HMMMM HA HA HA The sub peaked on my my Pimps & Pipes and the amp clipped in a very audible way,the Sunfire never even broke a sweat. If the LF was a leader of anything it would still be in production and in full swing.Klipsch does not remove subs from production so fast for nothing.Look at the KSW series, inexpensive and good, still in production. Nuff said Want to talk subs with me,no problem.I can duke it out with anyone here or any board. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  15. Nice simple setup, you dont need to many watts to move lotsa air here! May I ask is the KSW200 planty fot this setup? The room looks quite large and the K-Horns mains with the Belle as center can play at very realistic levels. How can this sub keep up? Hmmmm Maybe you are not a bass freak like me.LOL Good setup, simple, did not cost to much and no doubt sounds good.Very nice TheEAR(s) Now theears
  16. Both the Denon 4802 and the Yamaha RX-V3000 are very high quality recievers. I simply decided on Denon(3801 and 5800) because the Denon had beefier amps.Amps I dont even use!LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  17. Good choice as an owner of the Denon 3801 I dont regret my purchase and I paid over $1500CAN plus tax! The amp is still quite good, and great when compared to other recievers in this price range. Denon and Klipsch make a very good combination.Boa also has a Denon I think. Again congrats you now have a quality reciever, TheEAR(s) Now theears
  18. Congrats on your reciever purchase.Very good quality reciever and plenty of features to boot. I would use the RB-3's as rear sourrounds. I dont like the disfused sound too much,I value precision more. Now you would(should)take both speakers home and try them, then you keep what sounds best to your ears. Good luck TheEAR(s) Now theears
  19. LOL Yes nothing less then TWO(yes 2)RSW15's!Uh that is if the RSW15 is what Klipsch says it is. Ok if you prefer difused sound then the RB-3's may not be your cup of tea. While the quality, detail is all there its not difused sound like the dedicated sourround speakers. If only said I like this setup because I like the precision,I dont like too much the difused sourround sound. Its just me. In this case try the RS-3 II's,you may prefer them to the RB-3's for sourround duty. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  20. Nostalgia reigns supreme! Still I have to say that horn loaded speakers dont have bad imaging.Klipsch and some other brands of horn loaded speakers have good imaging. Even the huge Altec Voice of the Theater speakers sound quite good thank you. Its a matter of positioning the speakers and tilting then in. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  21. Sorry for the late answer here Penguin, today my "high-speed" internet is as fast as a 14.4 dialup! LOL Ok to give a fast answer YES the RB-3's are great sourrounds for the RF-5's.The speakers match very well and the output is plenty.RB-5's would be ideal(identical drivers, almost)if you get a deal on it. I am sill waiting from my RF-7's and RC-7. When I get them I will use the RF-5's as sourrounds! And the RB-5's will serve as the second sourrounds, now the RB-3's?I think I may get some Yamaha top of the line reciever and use the RB-3's as front efects! LOL Cant wait, this combination should bring me to dynamics wonderland and with class.Next are probably two RSW15's. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  22. I still maintain that a great power amp will do the trick and solve the RF-7 shortcomings you heard. I will get my RF-7's shortly and audition the large Klipsches with many amps(after I break them in for at least 100-150 hours,a must to soften up the woofer sourrounds). I want to try the RF-7's with... Denon 3801(two channel mode) Denon 5800(two channel mode) Celeste 4050(small integrated,50W RMS per channel) Celeste 4070(power amp,70W RMS per channel) Celeste 4150(power amp,150W RMS per channel) Celeste 4250(...250W RMS per ch.) Carver TFM-75(...750W RMS per channel) Krell FPB600(...600 RMS per channel...rated at,in reality more, way more) Then I will be able to say if I was right(of course I am ).Untill then the RF-5's remain as mains. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  23. Hofy even made some high precision cuts to let the tweeter breathe.Neat stuff! And the advantage is the speakers can be installed in under ONE MINUTE!Imagine that, under one minute(per speaker!). Maybe Hofy is counting his green on an island now, strange I did not see any Call this number NOW infomercial. LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  24. May I ask Btrigg where did you read this? Most High-End publications prefer tyhe sound of the large Krell amps to the large Mark Levinson amps. On the digital side...I would go with Mark Levinson!Yes I would(may) do the unthinkable and match Mark Levinson front end with Krell amplification! LOL Two arch rivals in one system! How bad am I? TheEAR(s) Now theears
  25. The timbre should match, this should not cause any problems. The second version should sound a bit(guess here, based on the RF-5)smoother then the first. One thing is sure you dont lose in this deal.Klipsch improves designs and not the reverse. TheEAR(s) Now theears
