  1. Although I do love my Forte's because of their wide dynamics, my B&K amp mated with my Sonus Faber Grand Piano Home speakers sound more transparent, natural, and smoother than the Forte's ever will. Remember when Tweeter and HI-FI Buys sold Klipsch, Sonus Faber, and B&K products. They knew what worked best for good musical enjoyment.
  2. After a very short listen to the Sonic, the B&K Pre/Power amp is easily the smoothest, most dynamic and better sounding of the two. I tried the Sonic with and without a Parasound preamp which has tone controls but the Sonic still sounded too detailed and not as smooth as the B&K through my Forte's.
  3. I have never tried my little Sonic Impact class-T digital amp with my Klipsch Forte's. I will compare the Sonic with the B&K and post my thoughts.
  4. Thanks DeanG, How much will it cost me to have my Forte's converted, "transparency reasons only"?
  5. Does anyone else have a better recommendation of the perfect "universal amplification" that will play a wide veriety of different music without the listeners ear feeling fatigued, especially while listening to some poorly recorded music. The B&K does a very good job at playing all types of music music because of its tone controls, MOSfet transisters and "NOT OVERLY DETAILED SOUND". I would love to hear the digital Bel Canto with some type of EQ in between.
  6. You are wrong, you can get good transparency using tone controls. My system "depending on the speaker I use" has plenty of transparency and cleanliness when played back through my tone controlled B&K system. Although some of my speakers are more transparent than others. 1. My self built Fostex FE167E are the most transparent. 2. Sonus Faber Grand Piano Homes are a close second. 3. Klipsch Forte II are the most dynamic but less transparent of the three.
  7. I emailed ASL and told them my tube amp sounded very forward and bright with my speakers. He responded by saying "try some Old Stock Mullard 12au7 preamp tubes to maybe correct the problem". This is a "very expensive" form of tone control I may try latter. Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Birthday to me
  8. List price... B&K Reference 5 S2.. preamp $798.00 B&K Reference 125.2 S2 amp $798.00 I have my preamp setting directly on top of my amp and no heat related problems yet. It does get slightly warm but not hot.
  9. By modding your crossover (aka DeanG versions) all you are doing is changing the tone of the speaker much like a tone control does. I am a firm believer of tone controls (bass/treble) to adjust for bad recordings, bad speakers, bad rooms. Give the B&K a listen if at all possible. Very smooth, pleasing and powerful sounding. Bass will literally shake the house, I promise.
  10. The B&K is far from bright because of the MOSFET transisters. I will send you a PM concerning brand of tube amp I purchased.
  11. I have been using my B&K Pre / Power Amp combo with my ForteII speakers for about 5 years now and I cannot complain about the DEEP, RICH, POWERFUL, and BALANCED sound. Then I tried a 40watt push pull tube amp with zero tone controls. That deep, rich, and balanced sound that I was used to went away totally. The sound turned bright, unbalanced, and with near zero bass. WTF! I hate my new $1000.00 Tube Amp. www.bkcomp.com is the answer. You "must" audition this B&K pre/power combo with the Klipsch Heritage line! Reference 5 S2 Pre Amp Reference 125.2 S2 Power Amp Leave your crossover neatwork alone. USE TONE CONTROLS
  12. Maybe he was mistreated as a child? Poor guy.
  13. Blackhawk Down. Too much rat -a -tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat.....gun fire.
  14. The video production is not the best but the sound quality is verygood in two channel stereo. Derek played like he had stage fright "very stiff looking" but man can he pick. Warren was same as usual " the best "
  15. Khorn top vs. Lascala bottom. Sorry no Cornwall specs.
  16. 1990 Klipsch sales flyers showed that the Klipsch Forte II had the best frequency response down low. Other Klipsch speakers rolled off sooner, KHorn, Chorus II included. Top is ChorusII bottom is ForteII
  17. This one, R30. Excellent sound (bass shakes house and bells sparkle) and video quality is first rate. Disc one is a live concert recorded in Germany. Disc two is an old video vault of different years and songs. If you are not a Rush fan, you will be after viewing this must have DVD. There are two versions, just the DVD or the DVD with CD. Rated 10/10 IMO. I was not a big Rush fan until now.
  18. Rush's brand new live DVD was released 11/22/05. Neal Peart's drum solo is simply the best I have ever heard. This is a must have!
  19. Roger Waters, in the flesh-live, DVD For those who cannot wait, the above is VERY VERYGOOD.

  22. Opening guitar part at the begining of track 10. The song is called Sorrow from Pink Floyd, Momentary Lapse of Reason CD. "PLAY IT LOUD" the tone is killer
