  1. Thanks, Gil. Great fun reading about PWK. Glad to say I got to meet him in 1976. What a character! Mick
  2. For a CD player check out the JoLida JD-100 with tubed output stage. I've just acquired one and really like it! Mick
  3. I owned two PS-400s, one I sold on Audiogon --- that's why! No catch at all!
  4. If you have a set of speakers that really need power, I have an amp which I'm offering here before advertising on ebay. It's a Crown PS-400. Great shape! .05% distortion 0Hz--20k Hz; 260 watts per channel into 4 Ohms; 165 watts/channel into 8 Ohms; can be bridged for mono: 520 watts into 8 Ohms, 330 watts into 16 Ohms. Mick Bell
  5. Daddy Dee: You can get the grill cloth at Dura Crest Fabrics, 708-344-4900. Talk to Ralph Fortino. Mick
  6. Al: No, my grill frames were the same in each speaker. Mick
  7. Marvel: The horns are in great shape. I found them on ebay and got them for about $70. Mick
  8. Yes, Al. It should. And thanks for your help -- drawings, web site, etc. In these pictures the horns are their stock green. However, I later took them out and painted them black. I think things turned out OK. One of the speakers turned out great, the other just OK. Neither of those two cabinets had the exact same measurements! (And they are consecutive serial numbers.) Mick
  9. JC: No, I*'m not running it through a DAC. Polk makes a big deal out of the DAC in their tuner and in fact it sounds just fine. Not quite CD quality but very close. I'm very pleased. I did have a little Sony which I also used in the car. It was OK but it had a fan which was the noisyest thing for its size I've every heard --- drove me crazy. The Polk is certainly worth the price. Mick
  10. First pic disappeared! I'll try again on the horn and tweeter before attaching the grill. Mick
  11. The grill cloth was easier to work with than I thought it would be. The material actually creases easily which makes it easy to form the corners, top and bottom of the grill. Just used a staple gun -- no glue necessary. Mick Bell
  12. Horn and tweeter in place before the grill cloth is attached. Mick Bell
  13. I'm new to the forum but I'd love to participate in a trip to Hope. I had the good fortune of meeting Paul Klipsch in 1976 and I've been to Hope. However, I've never toured the factory and would love to do that. Mick Bell

  15. Good for you, JPM! I've been doing a similar thing. Just put Altec 811 horns and Beyma CP-25 in my Belle Klipsch. Awaiting ALK Extreme Slope crossover network (I'll use it with Altec 902 drivers on the 8lls), and a Modified JoLida 707A integrated amp. Today received my JoLida JD-100A CD player. It'll be years before I get out of the dog-house but I'll have a smile on my face all the while! Mick Bell
  16. I just received new logos from Klipsch. How does Klipsch attach their Heritage logos? Hot glue? Double sided tape? Mick Bell
  17. I'm running Kimber on my Belle Klipsch and it sounds great. Mick
  18. The 511 is one heck of a big horn! 24 X 10 X 24 Mick
  19. Russ, the Belles were made in '84. Mick
  20. Anybody know where I can get a couple of new logos for my Belle Klipsch. Mine are getting a little ragged. Mick
  21. I'm also going to tubes for the first time. After much reading and searching I just today ordered a JoLida 707A for my Belle Klipsch. Mick
  22. Retired in '03 after 27 years in the Air Force. Had a pair of K-Horns which I shipped around the world for about 7 years before getting tired of trying to fit them into a different house every PCS. Just recently acquired a set of Belle Klipsch which I'm in the process of modifying with ALK crossovers, Altec 902 drivers, Altec 811b horns, Beyma CP-25 tweeters. Mick Bell
  23. I just purchased some from Dura Crest Fabrics, Inc. 111 N. 10th Ave Melrose Park, IL 60160 (708) 344-4900 Speak with Ralph. These folks supply Klipsch. Mick
  24. Thanks, Jim. I appreciate the response. Mick
  25. I thinking of going to tubes to drive my Belle Klipsch. Anyone have any experience with the JoLida JD-302B integrated amp? Mick
