  1. Ken-Congrats on your great deal! I am sure the speakers would just overpower my 13' square bedroom! Thats where the fun is,I had my Corns in a 12x10 room I remember my dad coming home from work one night,My Klipsch were cranked up pretty loud. He walked into my room,I quickly got up and turned it down. He had a confused look on his face and asked me if I was trying to "punish" myself. I didnt have a answer for him then, but every time I think about that day I wish I would have said "Yes,and im grounding myself for the rest of week" Enjoy your new sounds! Tomski
  2. Michael thats music to our ears(The calming effect of the phone call)I am also a Klipschaholic,I have also used the Cornwalls with the RC-7. I do happen to like my theater sound, when I do use it,not my ideal setup but I dont think ill ever have a ideal setup in my veiw. I was just wondering,is every reply I give instantly dissected by a team of experts at Klipsch to find errors On a serious note,so Klipsch made 2 different K-57Ks one with a metal flare mounted on the inside and one with a plastic flare that was screwed on from the front of the speaker? Tom
  3. Now since Im cleaning my slate, here I one more item I would like to clarify. The 680I was not rated into 4ohms and breif 2ohm loads. It was the 990vxi that was rated that way. The 680I was rated at half power bandwith along with full power bandwith specs. Colter/Frzninvt/DeanG I am truly sorry!! about this snafu. Frzvinmn/Tomski
  4. Hi guys! I just looked again inside my cornwalls again The woofers are positively K-33-E both have square black magnets and black baskets. Both tweeters are K-77-M square magnets and are easily readable The mid squakers are both black,They both have raised rib like lines on the outside, both have a raised PWK like emblem on the flat flare part. The flares for the mids are made out of cast iron right? Non magnetic, cold to the touch. Now the first time I looked, it was dark (my townhome has a real poor layout for lighting)I now have a million candle portable spotlight. One sqauker has no ink/writing on it, but they are both identical in size, and the same magnets ect. The one with the ink/writing on the magnet, the letter is smeared towards the 2#s, you cant read the letter at all,but the more I look at the second # the more it appears to be a 7 and not a 5. This would then validate the info Frzninvt got from Klipsch in regards to the B3 and the speaker #s used. Right now im curled up in the fetal position on the floor of the shower, water running, blabbering to myself,"How could I have decieved so many,so quikly,by misreading the #s on the one squaker
  5. Exxon Valdez oil spill What about American Companies overseas-Union Carbide Bhopal,India Now do some homework! Tomski
  6. My neighbor's father was cleaning out his audio gear and since he didn't want to ship the Khorns he sold them locally in Florida for $600! I think it was to a dealer along with some other electronics. I couldn't believe the price...he knew they were worth more but didn't want to fool with the sales process....I guess it didn't take me serious when I said I'd be interested in buying them some day if he wanted to clear out the space. What a shame,I wonder what kind of markup the dealer will add. I threw up a little when I read that... Fini-A vurp or hurl? Do you have any mints? Tomski
  7. Hey Guys I was just thinking about the corns1,they were rated at 98db/1watt/4ft In the Klipsch manual "A Legend in Sound" it states that to convert the rating to 1meter add 2db.Not sure if this helps? My model#s are 36Y225/6 Tomski

  9. This is what I wanted to say but some people have probably had their fill of all things Harman. http://www.harmanaudio.com/all_about_audio/powerratings.asp Tomski
  10. A 3dB increase is twice as loud. It's just not what most people might expect from a doubling of SPL I probably chose the wrong way to state that, but I wanted to make the point that the difference between say a 100wpc verses a 110wpc would probably not be a huge difference Thanks for clarifiying that
  11. If that is so then I would say that you could use the B-3 with the K-55's. Are the K-55's gray in color? If they are silver and flat they are not K-55's. A photo would confirm, now you got my curiousity going. Thanks for the info Frzninvt Yes they are the grey/blackish with a cast iron look Unfortunately I dont have a digital camera, and like you said "now you got my curiousity going" I think your words apply to me now as well? Tomski
  12. I lurk a lot more than I post! I knew that when I gave my views on power ratings,It would have some backlash/voodoo against me. Lets just say that the day of the Bryston/Gemstone debate,I went to the AVS forum and the top 7 questions were H/K problems. H/K isnt without fault in regards to the digital drop issue, but it DID seem that it was a statistical anomaly/set up towards me. I also noticed the name Tomski was allready taken.Hmmmm? Well I can only assume then that some of my views were understood. Also I tend to back out of the posts,so I may be signed in one minute and not signed in the next. Tomski
  13. Frzninvt-I just put some DeanG Xovers in a couple days ago, since I still had my cordless in the room I decided to look again. They both have B-3 Xovers, both are metal mids, and one squaker has no ink/#s on the magnet and the other has blueish ink on the magnet, although it is smeared to where you cant read the letter after the #. The 55 is clear enough to read. My corns were used as demos breifly before I bought them so maybe that has something to do with it. Tomski
  14. joessportster Just kidding around,I sure these guys can give you all kinds of good advice.Someday I would like to get a entry level tube combo (triode?)but that is a couple years away. Good luck in your choice. Tomski
  15. I think all tube guys have like 3-4 tesla coils in their house and also a couple of those supercharged v-rod stun gun things where the arc rides up the v. They often have a large cold stainless steel rectangular tables where they perform their "experiments". I bet on dark stormy nights if you sneek up to their windows and listen, you will hear the "mad scientists" upon powering up their "systems" cry out "IT IS ALIVE"!!! (Whisper- Also for a group that likes light bulbs, they often listen in the dark, they are a very odd bunch) Edit Also they do a lot of rolling,if you know what I mean.
  16. So does this mean they no longer give away those free flashlights like they did years ago Tomski
  17. Rplace-I work in the telecom industry,I install phone/data networks. The copper data is allmost allways terminated on patch panels on 19inch racks, the data panels are allways either a 3hole or 6 hole in width,Now granted these are usually about 7feet tall, but allways use multiples of 3holes when using 19 inch racks. This will avoid any misalignments farther down the rack. Tomski
  18. Frzninvt I have 83 corns and they came with B-3 crossovers and I believe the squakers are the K-55Vs (metal)
  19. In addition to what DD said, remember that a 100watt amp compared to a 200watt,the 200watt will not be twice as loud but only 3db louder,it will be noticable but every doubling of power only adds 3db. You will have to decide what amp is best based on your speakers, your volume preference, and your amount willing to be spent. Look for a amp that is at the least rated full power at 20hz-20khz into 8ohms,the prefect amp spec will double its power into 4ohms and then double again into 2 ohms, If you cant afford that type of amp look at the point at which a amp brand breaks away from the ideal amp model. Hope this helps! Tomski
  20. Hey guys, It seems after reading all the responses that both sides make valid points. I believe that just like any other source in audio there will not be 100% agreement on any one source. It allways is subjective to each individuals tastes or preferences I know I have a bias towards my own gear/source and when someone doesnt like my gear/source,My first reaction is to think "How the heck can they think that" The only rule that ever seems to apply to ALL of us is that if you are happy with YOUR sound then that IS all that really matters. Tomski
  21. Hd I enjoyed learning about some of the earlier H/K twin powered models,I didnt know when the 150+ was made. I owned two twin powered models, one from 79 and one from 81. I noticed no one was eager to answer his question,so I tried to give my opinion of my experience with the two twins. In regards to the 81-680I I will stand by my words above until proven wrong. Now on a infinitely more important view HD may your journeys to other lands be safe and short!! Thank You! Tomski
