  1. I'll take it, where should I send the check?
  2. Sure enough, there's nothing quite like a 1976. It was the red, white and blue limited edition that was all the rage, right?
  3. By the Seaside or Down by the Seaside??? Still on the zep PG album I see. I'll keep the sea theme going but switch bands. I will however keep on that side of the pond with my band selection. Come sleep on the beach Keep within my reach I just want to die with you near I'm feeling so high with you here. I'm wet and I'm cold But thank God I ain't old I should have split home at fifteen
  4. If it is simple you are looking for look no further then the TGIV. I have set up and used several pre/pro and receivers in my day. This thing is very intuitive and simple to both set up and use. Don't believe me? Check out the review in "Home Entertainment" Nov/Dec of 2004.
  5. No way, this is the fun part. I am spending Indy's money, not mine. The way I see it the equipment should be better then the room. Remember the old car saying? "All show and no go" The HP has to be there to back it up. So I am going to badger him to get the TGIV over the receiver. No sense in having all those killer Klipsch speakers and driving them with a Yugo []
  6. Here ya go another Larry King "Softball" Wanted no applause Just another cause Made a meal out of me and come back for more Had to cool me down To take another round Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
  7. Badge - Eric Clapton EDIT: Time between posting and answer 3:38 to 3:40...is that a record? I'll have you a song in a minute.
  8. After I joked with you, you got me wondering. I quickly found this: My Sunfire Reciever is in the ballpark of the Sunfire separates of the same grade, but there is still a noticeable sound difference. I listened to the Ultimate Receiver and thought, "there is NO WAY that the Sunfire separates can get any better than THAT." Then I listened to the Sunfire Theater Grand IV, and Sunfire Cinema Grand 200~seven....and ate my words. While the Ultimate Reciever does sound several classes above NAD separates in the same price range...it can not compete with separates that cost twice its asking price. Period. Its a simple matter of the quality and cost of internal components and the laws of physics when you place some of these components next to others inside a confined chassis. Who knows if this guy is all knowing and hearing...but it does make sense. Read the entire thread here: http://hometheaterhifi.com/forum/printthread.php?t=1231&pp=40 AtomHeart is the poster. Don't forget formats change from time to time. If you get the TGIV along with seperat amps you can always swap out the pre/pro for a more up to date model and still have your amps. I would be inclined to buy the latest and greates pre/pro you can afford and by used amps. Let somebody else take the depreciation hit on the quality amps.
  9. Come on indy, you are smarter then this you know there is a difference between and integrated receiver and separates. Specs on a sheet are not the full story. Time to build the bank account back up from all that construction and put some money where it belongs...into the equipment. Better replace that 2910 with a 3910 while you are at it.[6]
  10. You are right about the "holes". The original Chorus were a ported design and have two obvious holes or ports below the woofer. The Chorus II has a passive radiator. It won't have the holes on the front and has a very large passive cone (looks just like the woofer on the front) mounted on the rear of the speaker. Other tell tale things are on the back where the binding posts are it will either say "Chorus" or "Chorus II" Have the sell send you a picture of the back of the speaker and you can tell in an instant. If there is a speaker in the back it is a Chorus II. No speaker then Chorus. Both are fantastic speakers, BTW. Sorry I can't help you with the serial numbers.
  11. This is a little bit more fun with some more lines of the song...how about this mid to late 70s AOR FM classic. You know that chick that used to dance a lot Every night she'd be on the floor shaking what she'd got Man when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot I mean she was steaming And that time over at Johnny's place Well this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face Man we just fell about the place If that chick don't want to know, forget her
  12. O, looks like you got it right first to me....and yours is one of my all time favs. Zappa - Joe's Garage. Central Scroutinizer <sp> says stick to safer activities. See you at the CYO!
  13. More lyrics: Putting on some clothes I made my way to school (oh oh oh) And I found my teacher crouching in his overalls I screamed and ran to smash my favourite slot machine (oh oh oh) And jumped the silent cars that slept at traffic lights
  14. I can't tell you why...but I hear a lot of people like 1976. Maybe that is just because they have them, maybe there is an actual reason. I am sure the 76-ers will jump in and tell you why.
  15. Excellent, forgot to check back. Sorry for the delay. I think this will be fairly easy. Here we go.... Kept his gun in quiet seclusion, such a humble man
  16. Posted the album question before I drove to work...thought about the song all the way in. Can't think of the song for the life of me.
  17. I am not very artistic, but scoring well...you are right addictive.
  18. Great take on things JDM56. Just a guess on my part as I have not heard anything but direct radiators in 6.1 or 7.1, but my gut tells me that bipole/dipole setups would not be a beneficial. As the sound will be more "spread around" I think you would lose the "steering" or panning side to back to side that I get with 4 heresies up high and angled at the listener. I believe the whole goal of bi/dipole is to diffuse the sound side to side and back to front. Adding another set of the same might be less noticeable. Just another $0.02 from me...best if you could try it yourself and decide.
