  1. joessportster, tell me about that Pro-Ject. Not a model I am familiar with. I am looking to get 300-500 dollar TT. Something like a Music Hall MMF-5 or Pro-Ject Xpression 1 or maybe a used rega p3.
  2. I still think about 100 forum members should take the time to set up new ebay accounts and bid the heck out of them any time he lists them. Then default on the buy. Eventually he will need to get his 300 back, probably when his brilliant kid needs that college cash that he squandered at Hooters and various strip clubs in the greater St. Pete area. We will offer to take them off of his hands for 1000 Bucks. I'll put up the 1K for my center and GIVE the other one to the forum member who does the most bidding. Sound like a plan...watch out for the lawyers
  3. Two never used or installed Heresy Cane grills with Klipsch badges Two Heresy 701 Horns One K-53-R (I think have to check) driver One Black Academy - very nice shape One pair of very nice WO Chorus as soon as somebody finds me a single (or pair) WO Belle Lots of DVDs I don't watch much any more
  4. If things start to fall into place I will surely call first. If they were a dark wood then it is a pretty good bet they are WO. Thanks for the number BTW and the heads up.

  6. JB, nice very nice. How did you decide what treatments and where to place them? Did you have some consultation or roll your own?
  7. Larry, I dont think a wall mounted TT stand is going to fly. To the right of my rack is obviously no wall; right in front of the rack, spanning almost the rooms width would be my 4 seats that are on order from the manufacturer (currently using a 3 seat couch). If you are in the seat closet to the rack there will only be 18 inches of space between you and the rack. So, if I mount a TT shelf to the left of the rack it would be pretty much in your face when sitting down. Espically if the shelf is 24 inches from the wall. I am thinking about a used rega p3, new Pro-Ject Xpression 1, new music hall mmf-5 or similar TT. I think those are smaller then what you have (basis ???) on the wall, but not much. All, Is it just not practical to put the TT in the area below the steps? I like the TT being separate, but if long wires are a problem then it is a no go I guess. Ill try and take pix of the inside of the closet tonight and see what you guys think about that. It is already pretty cramped in there. Another idea. TT in the area under the stairs with dedicated tube amp. Problem there, is how to run wires from that area to the Khorns in the front? Not to mention that I would need two sets of wires hooked to the Khorns. There is a double door along that wall and a steel beam running the full length of the house inside that wall so I cant go up and around the doors even if the walls were not finished. That solution would put my TT on hold for a while as I dont see me getting a 2nd set of gear for some time. However an integrated tube amp with phono stage plus at TT would be all that I need to listen to vinyl via 2 channels only, right??? Man, this should not be that hard. Where are the out of the box thinkers? Some recessed platform that lowers from the ceiling to play my LPs and wipe my A$$ for me. Pretty visual for all of you. Jackson/TDK, thanks for the very kind wordsthis has been about 15 years in the dream stage. Nice to finally see it come together. Movies are phenomenal. Music is very, very nice as is on CD/SACD/DVD-A/ripped music via a music server, but ever since I heard Real vinyl over at GaryMDs house I have not been able to sleep. Damn you, Gary!
  8. For all you picture lovers. I am trying to crack a turntable placement nut. I posted some pix of my HT/music room over in 2 channel. I am working on getting pix right with lights out. Not having much luck. My HT seats are due in any time. Only then will I feel worthy of the thread dedicated to HT pix (many there are tough to live up to). Till then check these out: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64741 Looking for ideas on closing that space below my steps too (back wall). It is about 32 inches wide and 70 inches tall. Maybe a partial door. Can't find any prehung like that at Home Depot ...any ideas.
  9. Excellent! WO is what I am looking for. So who wants to split the pair??? If you live along the way between Flint, MI and Baltimore, MD you might just get them deliverd for free. You would have to have a house built in the median between east and west bound Ohio turnpike or live at one of the rest stops...I'll throw it out as I drive by...maybe I'll slow down a bit. Seriously, I want a single belle...but would have to have a few things fall into place first...any interest out there?
  10. See my post on where to put my TT in the 2 channel forum. There you can see some pix of my Heresies I mounted up high for surrounds. My long range plan is to have 7.1 with all 4 rear/surrouns being Heresy. Good luck and have fun, Rich
  11. Picture is worth 1000 works right...here are 2K words. Two shots of the front of the room if you are interested Resessed lights on-easy to see speakers...bad for movies Resessed lights off - good for movies. Who says there are black problems with LCD projector...look at that fish!
  12. NOS Valves, thanks for the kind words...been a long road. I am afraid I will get the vinyl bug bad and be hitting you up for a modded old tube set up. Keep me in mind if you run across an integrated Scott or the like. Larry, I will do my best. 1. 13.5 X 16.75 not an ideal khorn room but I just had to have them before I die. 2. 2 fixed 96 in diagonal Carada screen between the Khorns. There is a projector in the back of the room. 3. The cement foundation of the house. No I cannot inset anything beyond about 4 inches to the left of the rack. The alcove area is actually created by having the foundation of the front porch (fist floor) come out a bit. Most of my wall is only the width of a 2X4 from the basement walls. I got lucky where the foundation is a little bigger I was able to make the equipment closet. Yes to solid basement floor. The stand is a brand called Stand Design just a 4 shelf model with a very solid all welded construction. It has spike feet as well. Currently works pretty well as a TT shelfbut not very practical as it is large, bulky and heavybut very solid.
  13. Don't you think the turntable will skip a lot on bumpy roads???
  14. All good points Gary. Good thing I only considered it for about 30 seconds Could you imagine just lugging them all to the car? That would be an all day job in itslef.
  15. I am looking for some ideas on where to place my TT. I know isolating it is a big bonus. But having it close to the rest of my equipment is too. I built my room (it has to function as music and movie room) prior to getting bit by the vinyl bug and now have a 19 rack of equipment that is pretty full to the right of my listening area. The rack is mounted into the wall such that it is accessible via a closet in a sort of alcove area of my mostly rectangular room (not quite a rectangle due to this alcove). I think my options are: 1 Shelf to the left of rack when facing rack Dont like this because it takes up wall space and would be in front of person sitting on seats facing the HT screen. Prone to vibration from Khorn that uses that wall. 2 Inside closet on the wall directly behind the equipment. Good isolation, but cramped and not too easy to access. Plus putting a shelf in there now would mean removing all equipment from racknot impossible, but a pain. 3 Area under the stairs behind listening area Good isolation, has its own area. Bad because I dont know how to get wires from there to equipment rack through walls with pocket door. Also that would be a long run of TT outputs. Is that a problem in itself, extending the phono output? 4 Get rid of current 2 channel amps in favor of multi channel amp freeing up rack space and putting TT on a slide out shelf. Recessed flush with equipment when not in use. Pulled out for using TT. Not a bad solution, but I like my amps and I think the TT would be prone to vibration more then option 2 and 3. Check out my poor line drawing of my room below as well as a shot of the rack and area under the stairs. Not that area under stairs currently has TT stored there. I carefully move that stand and TT over to side of rack and run connections through front of rack into back of Pre/pro when I use it. Not very convenient to say the least. Drawing of roomnot quite to scale Equipment rack Here you can see rack, door handle to closet right of 3rd amp from the top. You can also see pocket (white door far right) door and alcove area Area under stairs This is rear wall left corner when facing the screen
  16. Tough call. I think they are over a grand new and 2002 is pretty darn new. Flip side of that is older ones don't wear out. If they are the finish you want and close to home that is two bonus points. They are on the high side, at 600-650 it is a coin toss. Damn, if you could only find a mint pair in OO for about 500 located within driving distance that would be a good deal. Oh, wait you did. How are they sounding? I have not forgotten about the HT pix I was going to send you. Just need some time.
  17. Really Gary? I totally get your point about having way too many to wade through, but I would think being from a radio station they would be in pretty darn good shape. Maybe I dont know what goes on at a radio station.
  18. Good point on the zero feedback. As tempting as it sounds I don't THINK I will be bidding. I have a loaner TT from GaryMD, while I sort out my vinyl needs/wants. Gary has also knows where I can get some good vinyl cheap a lot closer to home. I just have to figure out where to put my TT and figure out what I want to buy. You see, a TT was not on my radar when I built the room...but hearing is believing. Gary converted me. My rack is full and my room is finished. Logistics is the real issue for me and my fledgling LP collection. I just spend the winter building my room and bought no less then 12 Klipsch speakers in the process. If I told my wife I was heading up to NYC on a Saturday to pick up 6K lps. I would find myself living in my khorn base bins and rightfully so. She has been a trooper through all of this. Still the thought of digging through them like a time capsule and playing the "remember when I first heard this" game would be fun for months and months to come. Hmmmmm, anyone want to go along for the ride?
  19. Man this seems like a good deal currently less then 900 bucks for 6000 LPs. I bet it fetches over 1K, but still a good deal in my mind. Anybody want the country and comedy I am 3 hours from NYC and have a large truck? What do you think 6000 LPs weighs? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4721101126
  20. Look up member Tubes Horns and Buds. I think he might have a HBR Heresy pair he was looking to split up. I think this is the topic: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64155
  21. So, dkp, do you happen to recall what the finish was on the Belles? OO, WO, OL, WL, other?
  22. About as pleasant as that avitar Mmmmm, stool chunks
  23. I tell ya it never ends. I tried to build my HT over the winter based on Choruses, Fortes and Academies. Then Frzn kept badgering me (good thing) about various khorn deals he would see until I gave in to the dark side (WO over OO). Those khorns came with matching H1s, which forced me to find more WO speakers to match them all up. Recently I sold my OO Heresy and one of my Academies to a forum member. We met along I-95 to eliminate the UPS factor. Funny thing is he is a 19 year veteran of the big brown machine and I worked for them for 8 years in another life (the 1980s). Simple transaction, met a fellow forum member and we were both happylife is good. Anyway, this weekend I completed my j-malotky-like Heresy mount and make the leap from Academy/Chorus/Academy across the back of my 6.1 to Heresy/Chorus/Heresy. I must say I am amazed at the difference. It sounds fantastic! Now to be fair the Academies were a temp solution, on makeshift stands, behind my listening area about 120 degrees and angled toward my ears while the Heresies are correctly mounted on the side walls. For the record the Academies were great in the surround role of the A/C/A back trio. This is the first time I have had a room such that I could put the LS/RS speaker to the side of the listener and it really made a different in my mind. Spiderman II super bit was the first DVD to watch. Very nicebut the biggest surprise was last night watching Seven. The movie is so damn rainy throughoutI was starting to look for an umbrella to use and leaks in my ceiling. The rain drops all aroundyes all around sides and back were phenomenal. The wife was even commenting on how much better the effects sounded over the previous set up. No more front and back, it was as if we were truly surrounded by sound. I do in fact have another pair of WO heresies of the same year (1985) to put on the back wall for rear surrounds in a 7.1 set up. Just no amp to power them yet. I also need to j-malotky-like mount them or build some shelves. Any thoughts out there are the following: 1 Shelf mount the heresies ear level vs. higher ceiling mount with angle down action. 2 Another Carver TFM-25 to go with the three I already have to power the extra heresy that will be added in going from 6.1 with single chorus in back to 7.1 with two heresies in back? Or, make the space saving jump to some multi-channel amp. I am running a Sunfire Theater Grand IV pre/pro and have not one bad thing to say about my Carver TFM amps. Just getting a little full in my 45 space rack. Thanks to all of you who have helped along the way, off the top of my head Olorin, Frzninvt, j-malotky, sfogg, GaryMD, Larry C. I am sure there are others I missed. This place is the best! Still have a single black Academy in very, very good shape is anyone needs it. I paid 1800 for three of them looking to get my 600 back for the one I have leftbut since I wont have to pay ebay and paypal fees I might go a little lower for a forum member. No real rush to dump it but if you are interested drop me a line.
  24. EDIT I'm an idiot...did not see post on new page. Finally I understand how people get double posts...that was puzzling me for some time. /EDIT
