Also if somebody want to trade black Cornwall grilles for my cane grilles, please let me know. My cane gilles are like brand new condition. thanks in advance! ---------------- i would be interested in the grills swap i have 2 sets of cornwalls and both have the black grills, they are in very good condition also no pulls or stains etc..., i can make you an exact replica of the cornwall riser also, as i have 2 pair to take the measurements off of,(carpentry is my day job)everything from furniture grade work to decks Joe

I have a set of 1977 klipsch belles and just wanted to know if they are from fiber board or from plywood. also can some one please tell me what is considered a better construction. thanks for all your help. I am new to this board and would like to say that I have been reading some of the posts and they have been very informative. thanks ---------------- plywood is a much better cabinet than mdf, it is able to stand alot more abuse(not that anyone would abuse there klipsch) but say you were unloading from the rear of a pick up and the great helper you picked slips and drops the speaker likely as not mdf will break or split at a seam, whereas plywood would just dent or chip(99.9 percent of the time), given a choice i build with plywood over mdf simply for these reasons and lastly mdf is so freakin heavy weighs a ton Joe
  3. i must say last eve. was one of my more enjoyable nights listening to the vinyl, could do as i pleased with the volume without worrying about frying a woofer, cranking some jonathyn edwards sunshine. they just dont make this type of music anymore, Joe

  5. scott im not sure which dual you are talking about but my cs-5000 is a belt drive servo controlled speed and is very quiet, and the problem was connected to the vibrations caused when the volume was increased to a certain level. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE SOLVED NOW THANKS TO THE ADVICE OF LARRY C, I WENT TO THE SEARCH AND CHECKED OUT THE ISOLATION AS YOU SUGGESTED AND WENT TO LOWES AND TARGET SPENT 21.00 ON THE UGLIEST ISOLATION BOARD EVER PRODUCED(temporary) THE SHELF WAS TAKEN DOWN AND 2X2 CROSS SUPPORTS INSTALLED THEN THE SHELF WAS REINSTALLED ON THOSE, SET 5 RAQUET BALLS IN FURN. CUPS, AND SET A 30 POUND CONCRETE PAVER ON THOSE, SET tt BACK ON TOP AND PLAYED THE NOTORIOUS SONG THAT SHOWED THE PROBLEM LAST EVE, I NOW HAVE IT PLAYING LOUDER BY FAR AND NO FEEDBACK!!!!!!!! on a side note the bass seems to hit harder, and overall clearer sound could just be a placebo effect but ill live with it for now, of course i will have to try to make this prettier at some point but hey if ugly works i will take it Joe
  6. this forum never stops giving a wealth of information and i for one am grateful, after looking up isolation problems as suggested by members from my thread explaining a problem with feedback thru my tt, i went to target and lowes spent 21.00 set up this ugly isolation board as described on the threads, and to my amazement it seems to work i just played the same song that gave me problems yesterday eve. and now no feedback even with the volume louder than before, and i dont know but the sound even seems better, bass seems to hit harder, so thanks to one and all attached is a pic of my ugly temp isolation board(concrete paver, 5 raquetball balls, and 5 furniture skid cups) Joe
  7. uh it may have helped if i actually attached the pic. as stated above DUH!!!!!!!! Joe
  8. thanks for the info. i am attempting to take my la scalas back to original, as they were modified with al, crossovers and k55m drivers and they are 1977 model speaks, the drivers and horns are on a sale on ebay and the guy wants 325 for the horns and drivers, by your priceing he wants top dollar, will see if i can get him down a bit thanks Joe
  9. ok i see everyone says the shelf is a problem, now heres another wrinkle i live in a rather old house with a block foundation, and wooden floors, just walking across the floors was causing my previous turntable to skip(thorens 160, that i still have) i read some articles here and there and the big suggestion i was getting was for a wall shelf, the shelf is attached to the wall with screws, it is aa home made shelf of 3/4 inch oak plywood, see attached pic, about the only way to stabalize the floors in this old house would be to go under it and install cross beams and jacks(i rent the house and dont want to invest that kind of time and money into someone elses house)so are there any other alternatives ???? Joe
  10. list was forwarded to everyone i didnt get to weed out the ones colter wanted but i will let you know if you pick one that is already gone thanks Joe
  11. hey guys i know you will know what this is worth, so help a fella out, supposed to be working good, look original thanks Joe
  12. ok here we go again does anyone know of a way that a turntable can be isolated to help prevent feedback, my dual sounds and plays fine i have it monuted on a wall shelf approximately 8 feet from the closest speaker, at low and normal volumes i have no problems with feedback but when a good song comes on and i want to crank her up a bit i get that loud rumbleing feedback through my bass speakers on the cornwallsmy room is about 12 by 14 and the TT is set about as far away from the speakers as possiable, i guess i could hunt up a way to move it to another room, but that really inconvenient actually just wandering if there are any tweaks one can do to help prevent this, or a material that would kinda isolate the thing Thanks Joe
  13. now you guys have me agreeing with rick "BUMMER", at some point in the future i was planning on having the AA rebuilt to original spec, so dean what will that cost me? i cant slow down rick if i do one of you fellas will skyrocket right past me and scoop up all the deals i THINK are decent, heres another one for you what would a set of k55v with the metal (k-400)horns be worth in working order Joe
