  1. I've had my Sony for 2 years, and have never had an issue.
  2. I think it all depends on the buyer. I bought a KLF C7 center channel speaker and a pair of mint 4.2's for $325. I thought it was a great deal, because I was planning on spending about that much on just the C7. I originally thought I was going to sell them to recoup my cost on the C7, but I liked them too much. They look cool, and do a great job as surrounds in my HT.
  3. Pioneer makes one too. I have the Sony 300 Disc CD Player and love it. I am thinking about getting the 400 disc CD/DVD and linking the two. When you have two of these units, one player will cue up the next song when you are in random play mode and start the next track instantly, instead of waiting for the changer to find another song...pretty slick.
  4. This may or may not help. I run the Pioneer 1015, which is very similiar to your Elite model, minus a few of the bells and whistles. Upon first connecting my system to it, and running the MCACC, I found that it had calibrated the room very flat, almost too flat...The bass output in my room was considerably reduced from the previous receiver I had used. I found two solutions. One, just manually adjust the sub volume as you have done. Two, go into the menus and change the subwoofer setting to "Plus" instead of "On". This instantly gave me the room balance that I was looking for in my room. The placement issues others have mentioned should be heeded as well.
  5. The 1015tx displays the Dialogue Normalization screen on most dolby digital sources. I was wondering what it was all about until this thread came about. Everyother receiver I have owned has sounded better with the DTS soundtrack on just about every movie, but with this "new" Dialougue normalization on DD, I too have found myself enjoying the DD track as much or more than the DTS tracks...FWIW
  6. My kids got a new dvd recently that would play fine in some players and not at all in others. It wasn't a DVDr . Upon closer inspection, the disc did actually have a flaw in the playing surface...a tiny littlle dimple. All the cheap players in my house just read the disc as an error. The nice player in my HT reads it just fine. The CD/DVD production process is pretty good, but not flawless.
  7. Man, that looked sweet. Too late though..They are already sold out. Thanks for the link to the " WOOT site though. Never heard of it. Do they have screamin deals like this all the time?
  8. I will be another poster to put in a good word for the Pioneer receivers. I've ran Pioneer for years with my Klipsch, and have always been happy. I currently have the aforementioned 1015tx-k, and am extremely happy with it. Good clean power (120x7) and seems to have no trouble dealing with the various impedence dips that the forte's can deliver. It does run kinda hot though (typical for Mosfet technology) so give it at least 8 inches of clearance topside. The 915 and 815 are similiar products with less power if budget constraints put you below the 500 dollar mark. The automatic room calibration is so easy to use, and is nothing short of amazing for eqing your room. That being said, my brother has the HK630 with a Synergy HT set up, and it is very sweet and mellow sounding. Can't go wrong with HK with Klipsch.
  9. Never mind...I just noticed that it ended reserve not met...nevermind...
  10. Look at this... An Academy in decent shape that sold for less than 400 bucks in a standard auction. Is the market going down, or did this guy just luck out. That's only slightly more than I paid for my C7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5819178339&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  11. Enjoy the forte's. I will never get rid of mine. They are a truly beautiful speaker. My friends are always asking why I have such large speakers in my family room and talk about how great their HTIB systems sound from small speakers. Then I give them a listen to the Forte's and friends, and their jaws drop. Physics baby, Physics. You can't get sound this great from a 3" cube...
  12. Thanks Marvel I switched to that avatar right after I got that album. It completed my PK collection. I agree with you. Lights of Madrid is one of his all time best albums.
  13. The easiest thing to do is by a V92 modem. The are relatively cheap, (less than 20 bucks,) and most come with call waiting software. Your ISP must support Internet Call waiting for the software to work. (Check the box on the new modem, it will tell you on the box if it has internet call waiting software...
  14. There are a couple of C7's on ebay right now. Also a couple of academies. Just narrow the speaker search to Klipsch and Center channels, and they will pop right up. As a Forte owner who used a 2.2v between my Fortes for a couple of years, I can tell you personally that the C7 is light years ahead of the 2.2. Maybe someday I'll spring for an Academy, but not for awhile. The C7 does a fabulous job.
  15. Thanks djk! Now, can someone else put that in english for me...[8-)] What does it mean to me as I put this amp to use?
  16. $10...hmmm let me think...um no. LOL Anyway, Parrot, thanks for looking that up. How do you find ended listings on ebay like that. Is there a special search function that I am unaware of? Thanks again..
  17. The model number is PMA 980R The Denon website isn't very comprehensive, so I haven't found out much about its specs and such yet. It is remote control capable, so it isn't terribly old...I am guessing that it is from the late 80's, early 90's? Any Denon fans that can help me out with more info on this thing would be appreciated.
  18. Forgive a probably easy Phono question. My new Denon amp has a swtich that says Phono on it, and it has two positions "MM" and "MC". Can any of you vinyl listeners tell me what the two positions on this switch do? Thanks
  19. Hey guys I just got home from goodwill, and I came home with a Denon Integrated Amp that I paid 5 bucks for. It certainly is a monster, and it sounds great. The front panel lists this amp as "New Optical Class A" It wasn't too long ago that I posted a similiar question about a Technics Integrated that called itself "New Class A" What does the "Optical" have to do with anything? Anyway, I am pretty happy with my purchase, and look forward to hooking it up in a two channel set up. Other than being a little dirty, it appears to be in pretty good shape.
  20. How about a trio... Phil Keaggy, Scott Dente, and Wes King. Check out their album "Invention"
  21. I really dislike most Sandra Bullock Movies...especially any movie that she was in that also had a sequel... Speed 2 Miss Congeniality 2 The Net (Please, please please don't make "The Net 2") I also usually like superhero movies but these ones were pretty lame... The Hulk The Fantastic Four Cat Woman (possibly the worst movie of 2004) Electra...(A clost second...) Anyway, that's my 2 cents...
  22. Phil Driscoll is my favorite trumpeter. Great technique and when add his Armstrongesque grizzly vocals, you can't go wrong...
  23. Yeah, I miss typed there...it is cubic feet, not square feet...my bad...2000sq ft is bigger than my whole house too...
