  1. what's the difference between buss wire and the 12 guage stranded hookup wire i'll be using to wire up everything else? (radio shack doesn't have 14 guage)
  2. it's the wire depicted in al's universal networks. i think it's #604 on that site you sent. thanks. shipping will probably be 3x the cost of the braid itself.
  3. you're always around to give great explanations. thanks again.
  4. thanks bob. check will be sent out tomorrow. now to find some of that elusive grounding braid.
  5. hi bob, sent you a pm and e-mail (incase one of them fails to go through) -chris
  6. very tempting, but i'd only be buying these to resell for profit. may as well let someone enjoy them rather than fuel my greed
  7. would anyone mind explaining to me how bolting a khorn down would improve anything but the bass bin? i'm not seeing how the squawker horn and tweeter could benefit from this
  8. well, it's sealed. i threw it in the back of the room. pretty much sounds the same. looks better this way too.
  9. hmm.. According to google, i shouldn't have the sub in the center at all. I figured since i have it crossed so high (80hz for movies, 70hz for music), i would NEED to have it centered...
  10. wow.. that foam by mail stuff is cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/Soundproofing-2-Acoustic-Studio-Wedge-Foam-SP-DEAL_W0QQitemZ7366498842QQcategoryZ3278QQcmdZViewItem 48 square feet of the 2" foams for only $44... too bad they don't have a 24 square foot version. i don't need that much foam.
  11. im curious to hear how good the basstraps are
  12. it's a bit of a task reorganizing everything, only to need to put it back to where it originally was, so i'll turn to the forums. in design A, i have the sub infront of my "equipment." this leaves it more open and out into the room. in design B, i have the sub along the front wall and my equipment infront of it. now, aesthetics aside, which would be the optimum placement of the sub? it is sealed and downfiring. i'm not sure if having the equipment infront of it will perhaps distort the bass or muffle it, but then again, having it along the wall may reinforce it. or on the flipside, having it along the wall may even cause unwanted boominess in my square room. thanks for the input.
  13. then why is it that so many subwoofers are built as cubes?
  14. well, there were many variations and finishes of the khorn. the la scala also had an industrial version. and the belle probably had a few different finishes. i'm going to assume they did it by custom order and began making them after they compiled a list of what their clients wanted.
  15. no, it'd sound "industrial." get your audiophile terms straight.
  16. or you could rebuild the speaker out of solid steel, then once the woofer is in place, weld the access panel shut.
  17. i just removed whatever was remaining of the old crap and replaced it with whatever weather stripping i had laying around, which happened to be 3/4" brown
  18. well, that's going to be quite the restoration project. can't wait to see what they look like when you're done.
  19. jbl's from the mid 90's? are those the scalas from the guy in jersey?
