  1. Now she's up to a grand? What, does she think we're made of money? That's it...mow lawn, take out garbage, do the dishes, wash all the cars, and no dessert, and not another word. fini
  2. Tell your Mom she can't have the Bose system because it's $97 over the max, and $247 over the hoped-for $300. If she really wants the Bozo's, she must mow the lawn for a month, and take out the garbage. fini
  3. Justin- That is indeed exactly the point, to simply: Love one another. And it's been considered radical for thousands of years. fini
  4. I think most of the people here on the site are way more tolerant than you, Kenratboy. Freedom and Liberty FOR ALL is what this country is founded on, and what we, as heroes ourselves, must embrace. "Rearranging" (cute word) has been tried many times throughout history. Be careful for whom you speak. fini BTW, Ilike the Bay Area just as it is. This message has been edited by fini on 03-12-2002 at 12:33 AM
  5. I thought you wanted to keep it under $300? Was that $3000? $30,000? A sub would be nice. I haven't heard the IC-650's, but it's reasonable to assume from their size that the bass would be somewhat lacking. In-walls are a compromise, anyway. Check the specs. fini
  6. justin- I don't mean to step on the Master's (BobG's) toes, but if I were you, I'd check out the IC-650's being unloaded all over on ebay. They're for the most part old stock that Klipsch has sold through Ubid. They would probably suit your application well, and keep you on budget. fini
  7. I also saw the show last night, and Tom, that's a wonderful story about your Dad. I'm happy to hear he's still around and enjoying life and his family. I lost my Dad 15 years ago Father's Day, one week after I married my wife. I was born on his birthday, and we had a very special relationship. He was a PG&E gas foreman (and a volunteer firefighter), and a big hero in my life. I miss him more than anything else. My 10 year old daughter really wants to see the show (we taped it), but my wife and I are trying to decide if she should see it, if we "edit" a few parts, etc. It was very well done, but very intense, especially for a 10-year-old (of course whatever we decide, we'll be there with her). fini
  8. Mike- How do you like it's performance on regular CD's? I noticed in your system profile that you were hoping to upgrade to a Rega Planet? fini
  9. Audio Flynn- May I ask, from where are you getting the RP-91, and for how much? I've been considering this model, too. Are you going to be using thid as your CD source, as well? Thanks. fini
  10. Do you really think they needed a cute woman to sell those beasts back in the 30's? Man, imagine the bachelor pad you'd have... Alan- Don't tell me you're a Dodger's fan? I still like you...and Scully is a classic, probably one of the top 5 most recognizable voices in broadcasting. I do prefer Lon Simmons, though! fini
  11. Ahh...sounds like the perfect woman... fini
  12. Kenratboy- I was getting into the scenario you were presenting, enjoying dreaming I was the one finding those treasures, until the part about crap in the pants. It did remind me of a favorite joke, though... Backing up (haha), that sounds like a lovely meal, HornEd! You should have your own show on the Food Network, me thinks! fini
  13. There is currently a cool exhibit at the Exploratorium in SF about Charles and Ray Eames. I only got about 10 minutes in the exhibit (on a 5th grade field trip), I need to go back. Here's a link: http://www.exploratorium.edu/mathematica/index.html Check this out (if you haven't all re3ady), HornEd! Maybe the West Coast Winos meet here for lunch?... fini
  14. No, I didn't get 'em. I might change my mind though, after I talk to my cat. The AR's might still be available. Even if I had to do some re-surround work, and a bit of veneer touch-up, it still could be worth it (speaking here of ebay resale value ). I did check the links that Keith pointed me towards, but I had no idea they'd go for so much. I was thinking, maybe 400-500, but over 1500? WOW! Well, I'm off to volunteer at the kid's school: take a cake in, work in the library, decorate the MU for the spaghetti feed...hope I don't break a nail! fini
  15. I musta had my head up my AR's. fini
  16. Jeeze...you've gotta put on cotton gloves just to bid on 'em... finl
  17. Keith- If it's worth, maybe, 80 bucks, I could maybe pick 'em up for you, and you could make your own planetarium... Thanks for all your help, Keith!! fini
  18. Very well, but I was thinking, if they're good enough for the Argus Planetarium... http://aaps.k12.mi.us/drummer/dd6-99_planetarium.html fini
  19. Well, you really never know what you're going to run into at the ol' thrift shop. Yesterday's curiosity was a pair of these speakers, made by DCM, in Ann Arbor, MI. Odd looking towers, with grille cloth all around. I don't know the terminology for this kind of speaker. It didn't look like the grille came off (easily), so I'm not sure what"s inside. Here's DCM's website: http://www.dcmspeakers.com/ If you click on the Archive, you can find the Instruction manual for the TF 350. Since the current line-up of DCM speakers is available at Circuit City, I'm guessing the TF 350's may not be worthy of fini's speaker museum, but I didn't listen to 'em. Here's a current pair on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1335837836 Did any of these speakers make it out of Michigan? fini
  20. Kelly- I think you must be faking that tune if you can recognize that hum, hmmm? fini
  21. Keith- What else can you be but what you are? fini
  22. Calling HornEd...Mr. HornEd...Come in, HornEd... fini
  23. HornEd-Sorry to hear about your misfortune concerning the Klpschmobile. There are more RV-friendly cities than SF. Might I suggest beautiful Sonoma County? Think of the fun we could have, you, me, Clipped & Shorn, mdeneen, your Mom, my Mom...yipee! fini p.s. I noticed you were up early today, too. My back wouldn't let me sleep past 2:30. Has something to do with those virtually non-existent discs down there around L4 and L5... This message has been edited by fini on 03-03-2002 at 09:33 AM
  24. Scooterdog- I'm interested in finding out more about your dvd player. I've searched using the various ways you've spelled it, but so far, no luck. Is it a TECHNICS product? Where did you pick it up? Thanks. fini edit-Ahh, probably Technics AV-10! edit2-Or, DVD-A10: http://www.stereophile.com/showarchives.cgi?300 This message has been edited by fini on 03-03-2002 at 07:44 AM
  25. I have a buddy who may be putting together a Quintet system. E-mail me once you've decided on the price. What's the condition? fini
