  1. This is my exact point this subject has been beat to death ! This guy like SET, That guy likes PP most all of us like tubes ! Just leave it at that and let the sh!t rest. ---------------- You gotta be carefull about letting that sh!t rest, it can get real stinky No matter, its still a good article.
  2. Too bad steamer, I just sold my pair of SE84b's on audiogon for $650.

He does not know how to reason within reason. ---------------- Hehe, I know. I don't have enough experience with any type of amp's to have such a hardened opinion! I will try a PP and SS down the road and make up my mind as to what I like. But I find it quite humorious that certain people can be so narrow minded. the last couple weekends my neighbors behind me have been having a pool party till the wee hours in the am. I got tired of listening to their music (salsa? spanish) anyway I finally got pissed and played Moody Blues live at Red Rock on my cornwalls with a pair of SE84B Decware Zen amps wired in series. I had my doors and windows closed and had turned up the sound almost to max and ended up having the neighbors behind me come to my door and ask me to turn it down.. After chating with the guy for a bit he was quite suprised at how good the music sounded at that level from his porch. I guess 2.5 watts is more than enough for me right now. Still waiting for his reply

What kind of whim would be satisfied by playing something through an underpowered and distortion-laden amp? Masochism? No, "wrong and morally reprehensible" do not enter into it; that's just your faulty interpretation. Using a low-powered amp is a bad choice, that's all. ---------------- So your saying that the thousands of people that prefer Set to PP or SS are Deaf and Dumb! If they were not; They would hear that obvious distortion and would not have been so dumb to spend thousands of dollars on a Set. If Sets are such a bad choice and produce such terrible quality sound then why do hundreds of companies produce Set amps? Why are they snatched up as quickly and some more quickly than PP or SS on Audiogon?

I can't honestly believe that you're trying to educate them and "save them from themselves". I still fail to understand why you insist on applying such rigid limitations to subjectively evaluated properties such as "good sound". ---------------- Good question, still waiting for the answer
  6. Hi, Up till yesterday I had a pair of SE84b wired in series for Monoblock. Used them with my Cornwalls, Had a wonderful mid and high range, not to bright. Bass was tight and responsive. I would love to have kept them but the Ex-wife screwed me out of a couple car and house payments
  7. Ok, So Welborne Labs doesn't make and sell a finished Moondog anymore, But do they sell the kits?
  8. Bah, Craig is the least obnoxious of the bunch Which of course is better than being most obnoxious of the bunch, of course the whole bunch is obnoxious, which is obnoxious in and of itself

My question - if I convert an infected MP3 to analog, run it through a 35 year old preamp, and dub it off onto a digital audio tape, take the tape downstairs and dub it into a digital playback system through another analog stage or two (take a deep breath here) what are the chances of a virus surviving all of that and contaminating the digital playback system? This may be an obvious question, but I haven't been able to get a definitive answer around here, and I'm not computer savvy enough on my own to figure it out with out help. Thanks ---------------- Nope no way a virus can survive that trip, and if it did, holy assimilation batman, better call for backup cause the borg just arrived! Now Im not into the MP3 stuff, but if the mp3 players are using a windows CE version OS then technically yes its possable for a standalone mp3 player to become infected. BUT... The virus would most likly have to be written to target that enviroment and I've not heard of any virus targeting them yet.
  10. Skip the music, bring the bubbly, Not sure what it is about champagne but it gets them hot and in the mood every time.

You come to these misfits of society - folks that get blatantly angry when there SET, tubes, chips, etc. are slighted by another - folks that have measured the effect of the the third fold in a horn on the all important 55hz sound wave - folks that have accoustically designed their walls to resemble something from Woody Allen's Sleeper - folks that talk in tongues using terms like caps, Linkowitz-Riley and Thiele/Small - folks that KNOW how many watches Paul Klipsch wore (even worse - they consider it an important datum). What in the world makes yu think anyone here has been repeatedly successful with the opposite sex? Most can't even seduce the other voices in their head... ---------------- ROTFLMAO! hehe,
  12. Of course You could ask a forum member that lives about 45 minutes from Tampa to swing by and look at them, Heck you might even be able to get that same forum member to pick them up and hold them till you can arrange shipping or come down for vacation
  13. Wow, Gil, Thanks for posting that! That is by far one of the best explanations I've read so far. Although I started to get a headache reading it I've printed it out to re-read.
  14. I have been reading a great deal about using CAT 5e network cabling as interconnects and speaker cable. Those that have built interconnects have said they do very well against much more expensive cables.

I think its great, Someone who contributes to the forum spends the energy and time helping others out, Why give a SET to someone that prefers SS? So that requirement makes sense! and not everyone that spends time in cyberspace wishes to be known. I have another hobby that is just as expensive as this, Perhaps more so. I have spent years helping out on those forums and in those circles Im quite well known but only by my cybername. I doubt 10 people in that hobby actually know my real name and I like it that way.
  16. Wow! Not much can be said other than WOW! Congrats Gary I know you will enjoy those babys. Hmm. Now does anyone in driving distance to me want to give away a pair of Khorns? hehehe I'll trade a pair of cornwalls.
