  1. Imperfect, I am using a Rotel RB-1090amp and RC-1090pre, RCD-1072 CDplayer and Rotel goes very well with Klipsch. It gives the slightly warmness without any bright or harsh sound. Maybe you can talk to your dealer and see if you can get a Rotel RB-1080 setup and see how that works out for you? It would be worth a try and I don't see how you couldn't be happy with that sound combo! I love mine. The music gets so involving that my sister and I get up and dance and sing to it as if we are there, really fun. Never had a speaker that got me that involved with the music! If you heard mine, you would love the sound!
  2. Rotel will give it what it needs. Rotel/Klipsch go very well together and the Rotel gives the Klipsch the slight warmth from being too bright.
  3. Yes, it is. That picture was taken in 2000. I need a more recent one but I still look the same! I still get carded too, that's a good thing right!
  4. I've heard the Klipschorn's but I don't think the dealer had them setup well. The Carver Pro ZR1600 digital Amp setup sounded too harsh on the Klipschorn so I didn't get the chance to really hear how great they are.
  5. Dylanl, Guess no one here local to you saw you were selling them or wasn't in the market for another set of speakers. I saw a pair for sale here before I bought my RF-7's and I just wasn't willing to risk shipping them in fear of damage with these rough handling shipping companys that need to train their peoples to be more careful. I LOVE the sound of my RF-7's as you all already know! I'm happy with mine and staying put with them.
  6. Wow Jerry, and I thought you would be one of the last to upgrade your crossovers! Coming from you, I'll have to take this serious. I guess when things get more into place for myself, I'll have to see about getting on DeanG's list possibly, sometime in the near future. I just can't imagine getting any better than what I'm getting, but it sounds very possible by your nice description of noticed changes. I dont understand the graininess though, Im not experiencing that with the Rotel RB-1090, RC-1090, and RCD-1072 combo?? Keep me posted on the changes, Im interested! Thanks for the info!!!
  7. Yep.... that's how I felt too Spkrdctr!!! Too bad I had to learn the hard way though.
  8. JTA, I listened to an RF-7 with a McIntosh MA6900 and it sounded just wonderful to me. Not shrill, bright, or harsh at all. Must be something else in the system that is buggering it up.
  9. JTA, sorry to disagree with you but, I was thinking about getting the B&W N803 and compared it side by side with the Klipsch RF-7. The B&W have a very sweet midrange but I felt it was lacking in the bass department and the RF-7 did better on the bass and resolution. The RF-7 just did every thing right for me and it was the dynamics and big live sound that I really liked with the RF-7's that won me over from not getting the B&W N803. The B&W is a nice speaker and I liked it and the quality but I liked the Klipsch RF-7 even better and even at a better price, can't beat that in any form in my book! I'm still very pleased with my decision. Well, I don't really disagree with you, I should say that our ears are different! I did have a listen at the B&W N800 and N802 and loved the design and quality and wouldn't mind having it at all. Very nice but even it still didn't steer me away from the Klipsch RF-7 but we are talking about a much different price range here and those two models were very nice and didn't lack bass, but again much, much higher price than that of the Klipsch RF-7. Out of my budget too so, I'll take the RF-7 any day for the savings and the wonderful but wonderful sound it gives!!
  10. Good for you! I'm getting it live now with my RF-7's too!!!!
  11. --Stupid thing goes clear out to 6K, what the hell did PK need the dual phasing plug for?-- Oh Master DeanG, You really get me sometimes with your tactfulness!
  12. Thanks timbley!!! That's the kind of info I like to hear about!
  13. I've read great things about Rega, would love to try some of their products.
  14. Hi Parrot, I would love a pair of Klipschorn's in that big room! I have not moved yet but still plan to, so I am nervous about the next room for my RF-7's! I hope my next place will still have them sounding so good!! I have to sell this place, I hate to but it's too much work to keep this place up with just myself, a great house but I won't get an old victorian house again, too much work with upkeep on such an old house and expense! My ex is supposed to help me get things ready to sell it this year. We had bought it together but now that things have changed, he needs to get his part out of the house too so we can move on. We are still great friends though. My next house will be much smaller and easier to care for!!! Carl (cjgeraci), I agree 100% with you. I have found so much bashing on the RF-7 in so many different forums that I get so tired of trying to explain to people what you can't use with Klipsch. Some people use some amps that are known right away not to go well with Klipsch at all and explain it to them and they feel it should go with any amp or equipment they want to use with not understanding at all. I even find a lot of bushing with any Klipsch product in some forums that I can tell that some doing it, never even heard them. Some even state that the RF-7's 3-way system's midrange horn is way too harsh and in your face! Goes to show you that those people never heard or saw it or they would know it's a 2-way design and does not have a midrange horn! I think that the RF-7's are greatly underrated! Even here on the Klipsch forum many really underrated them and just don't realize just how nice of a speaker it really is, especially some of the Heritage guys here that don't even want to think about giving it a fair chance. It's when you start comparing the RF-7's to some of Klipsch past products do you realize just how well Klipsch did with this speaker! It's midrange sound quality is as if it did have a midrange horn that is very smooth and revealing. One of my biggest concerns was that it didn't have a midrange horn but that was quickly resolved after hearing the RF-7's, and later even more confirmed when hearing some of Klipsch past products with the midrange horn! Klipsch did very well with the midrange on the RF-7, very impressive, and I don't think some people give Klipsch the credit they deserve!!!! We RF-7 users have to stick together!!!
  15. Wow, nice to see what the horn looks like in the RF-7! I wondered what the other side looked like. Any more pictures of the inside of the RF-7 and it's components that I may have missed on the Klipsch forum or anyone have any to post here??? I must say that I love my RF-7's! Sound wonderful.
  16. --I bet you wear ruby slippers.-- Master DeanG!!! I would love to!!! Nice to hear you here again. In fact that is one of my favorite movies. When I was a little girl, I used to love to play like I was wearing ruby slippers. Now you aren't going to get all my little girl secrets out of me now, are you???
  17. --Well I can only say that the sf-2's are smoother than the heresy II's. I will say Less forgiving before I get beaten with a hammer.-- Wheelman, thanks for sharing that! I was curious how the Synergy line sounded. I haven't heard them. I saw them at BestBuy and tried to give a listen but their switch box was broken and wouldn't work to turn on the speakers. I was curious!
  18. Mine sounded nice from the first time I played them but I did notice some changes in the first couple of hours, after that......I couldn't tell if any other changes took place. When I first played them, there were some slight bright/harshness in the upper end but playing them over the first two hours it would get less and less and then completely disappeared. Now I never get that at all. So to be safe, I would say give it two hours of play and then listen to see if the sound has improved.
  19. Oh me, Oh my...... I was just thinking how much I LOVE my RF-7 speakers! One of the best speakers Klipsch has put out and here I read such a tragic story of a fellow that just didn't have the understanding of this great speaker for an exceptional could-be system if he would have just stuck in there and put the right equipment with it. A real pity! So sad! Wow, I'm glad I'm not him.
  20. Rotel is also another good choice for the RF-7. My RF-7 sound wonderful and very stunning, not harsh or bright at all. mbajner, shame you didn't get to hear the full potenial of the RF-7. It's a great speaker but all equipment has to be right for it, not just the amp. I have an inexpensive Sony CD player and when I run that on my equipment, boy oh boy does that change things, it's too bright and hard to listen to, but take it off and put back my Rotel CD and things are so smooth and wonderful sounding. It's not just the amp, it's every part that makes up the system, each part has to not add bad sound to it. Give the RF-7 what it needs and it's truly a great sounding speaker!!!! Forte's are great in it's own right and so are the RF-7's -- don't fool yourself too much there! The Forte's are less forgiving, true, but once you get it right for the RF-7.... you are in for a real treat. Remember, demo rooms are some of the worst places to hear the RF-7's, they too often have something wrong some where, I've heard too many times RF-7 not sound right when something is wrong in the demo rooms, especially running them off of bright amps, pre-amps, or CD and only then can it get nasty. I know the RF-7's so when I hear them, I know right away if something is wrong in the system. When you have a speaker that is as revealing as the RF-7 are, every thing must be right in the system but it's a very small price to pay when you have that level of quality sound and detail that these speakers provide if things are right. I'm amazed that some complain about the RF-7 being bright or harsh, it's not at all for me and it's very simple to know what quality equipment to pick for it to get outstanding results! If you don't figure it out for yourself, it will be a shame that you will never hear the greatness of the RF-7 outstanding performance. Nitefane, your're wrong - the RF-7's are great for music. You have something wrong in your system somewhere, too bad you couldn't get things right, your very much loss now. I feel for you guy. So sorry it didn't work for you, shame! You will never know what you have passed up now. I don't have DeanG crossovers and my RF-7's are very smooth on the top but my equipment makes it very smooth. Anyone who charges re-stocking fees, I DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these stores and you shouldn't either. If you let them get a way with it, they will cheat you like that. Shop only at places that have a 30 day stock-free return policy. If you know this about the store and still do business with them, shame on you! Well, sorry you didn't stick in there Nitefane to get things right with the RF-7's. I think you panic and re-acted too soon. Oh am I ever feeling your loss Nitefane!!!! I really feel for you. There was lots of people here willing to help you get things right, but doesn't look like you were willing. Shame, but good luck on your quest for another.
  21. Sounds like the black is going to look really great in your setup. My RF-7's are being used on my 2-channel setup, for music! I got my RF-7's a few months back. I'm very pleased with them. I was using Martin Logans before the RF-7. I just sold the ML's about 2 weeks ago, glad they are off my hands now. I agree, it's pretty low per year and I spent much more than my budget too, but Klipsch RF-7 gives a lot at a great value, so does my Rotel equipment so I'm set for years of great music listening and the quality, detail, and realism this combo gives me, has far exceeded my expectations. Good luck to you and enjoy those RF-7's when you get them, and give them time to break-in before any serious listening should be done because they take some break-in time, even just a couple of hours they start to settle in. Some say they take about 100 to 200 hours to break-in. My break-in went pretty smooth.
  22. Oh my, I can't believe no one has mentioned the Rotel RCD-1072, it has gotten much press about being one of the best CD players out there for the money. There are some really good reviews done from users and audio magazines. You can do a search and read up on the Rotel RCD-1072 online.
  23. Wow, some of you guys can be tough on a newbie! I've always felt that politeness goes a very long way than using not so nice sarcasm, rudeness, or an unfriendly manner in getting some points across. -I would put the wife on E Bay first.- Oh my, that's funny. Ok, now the wife thing! If I were married to a guy that had speakers that he loved so, I would NEVER but NEVER ask, suggest, hint, of any kind for him to rid himself of his beloved speakers. Sometimes I wonder if some wifes maybe just a little jeoulous of the time he spends with them speakers! If you love a guy, you love him! You love what is precious to him! You don't try and take it away! I feel very strong on this and just don't understand why some of you guys let your wife do this to you! You can quickly put her in her place by asking her to get rid of her favorite dress, shoes, or kitchen set. Might get her thinking!
  24. -Spkrdctr said: "It will last over 10 years" Spkrdctr, It will last well over 30 ++ years and more if taken well care of, Klipsch has a very good reputation for lasting many, many, many, years for all their speaker line and part of Klipsch reputation that keeps us buying their products with this in mind! Klipsch also holds their resale value very well. Lets just hope it always stays this way!!! The danger in this is when a company sells to another company that has a different vision in mind and starts going down hill from there. Any speaker should last well over much more than 10 year mark or it's junk and not worth buying.
  25. Reminds me of the excitement I had when I got my RF-7. What wood color are you getting? I got the Cherry Wood and love the look with the copper color cones. The midrange on the RF-7 is just beautiful, very accurate, clear, and vocals sound very real to life - life like, you hear every thing, as if the person is singing in front of you, more convincing than anything I've ever heard. My last speakers cost me over 4.5x the cost of the Klipsch RF-7 and the RF-7 sound much better in all areas and vocals are so sweet and real, it's made me want to listen to more CD vocals on the RF-7 of how much it reveals in the vocal details, very nice, you're gonna love it! You made a very wise choice and will enjoy many years of music bliss with them!
