  1. How did you find them? Why did the owner want to get rid of them? What will the owner be using in place of the Klipschorn? I'm always curious why I see so many Klipschorns for sale and what people use after no longer having a Klipschorn?? Does make you wonder though!
  2. Well, it's like Klipsch took it and pushed it in and made it get taller. I must admit that making it taller brings it to more ear level which helps music sound better bringing it higher up. It also saves some space in which the spot it stands. It also helps to manage the speaker better during moving it. The wider/shorter/larger speakers can be a pain to get through some funky doors, while the taller and slimmer are easy to get through funky doors. Now, I would love to have a pair of Klipschorn's and if a guy has a pair, he darn well can keep them in my book! If a wife really loves her man, she wouldn't dare separate her man from his beloved Large Speaker! Now we all know, bigger doesn't always mean better! Klipschorn's are the kind of speaker that you need to have a home for them, put them in it's best spot and don't move them! You don't want to move that kind of speaker all around to different apartments or homes! I had a listen to the Klipschorns and it does put out a forceful sound at you, so can be a real over-kill for smaller places. I have the RF-7 and love them, puts out a big live sound and looks sexy compared to some of the Heritage utility looks, say like the La Scalas, Belles, and to a lesser degree with the Klipschorn. Know to you guys, that more utility look may be more sexy!!!! I'm very happy with the RF-7 sound, looks, and overall the quality is pretty good. That's not to say I wouldn't love a pair of the Klipschorn too!
  3. I've always been interested in seeing what it was like for the RF-7 and I think it's not very nice of Klipsch not to provide it to us, I see it more as lazyness than people not being interested! I've always felt when a company doesn't provide it, that they are trying to hide something. Since I enjoy my RF-7 very much, it would be nice to know. My ears do tell me that Klipsch did very well overall with the RF-7.
  4. Wow, this thread tells me you guys are really getting bored! Oh my!!!!!
  5. **Many haven't discovered their magic yet...** Dave (texas42), that's a good way to describe the RF-7! Every time I listen to mine, I can't help but to think just how magical they sound with giving a very nice performance and presentation. Has that sort of magical sound to them that I've never heard before.
  6. Dave (texas42), thanks for such nice info shared! I appreciate you taking the time to share that with us! Yes, you could be right about the watts, some of the guys told me it's more high current you need than wattage and lots of guys say the tube amps at much lower wpc can do what SS can at much much higher wpc, so it sound like tube amps at lower wpc are much more powerful. I guess one of these days I will have to try tube amp and see what it's like from all the good things I hear about them. Sounds like you have a very nice setup! Thanks again, Kathy
  7. Thanks Craig (NOSValves), Wow, it's a far way from where I am. I would love to go!! Love to try to! I'll have to see, sure wish it was closer to me!! Do they ever get to the Pacific NorthWest area??
  8. Thanks m00n, For letting me know! I might stop by HomeDepot on the way home from work and pick some cable wire up and try that. If I can't hear any difference, I think I'll take them back. I ask the sales guy if they really do make a difference at the time and he said about a 10% to 12% at most, so I was skeptical about it. One guy on the forum told me that it gave him just a little bit fuller bass output and that was about it for him, so I'll have to try and hear if I hear any difference. After you mentioned that, I searched around on the internet and was reading a lot of people not being able to hear a difference, seems more than people who thought they did hear a difference. Sounds like it's going to be a hard listen to try and hear a difference! Hmmm! Guess another something for me to take on!
  9. Hi, Thank You! Yes I am. Looks like another thing I forgot to mention! I'm using the Monster Cable 10ft. ZSeries Z2 Biwire cables, it's part of the deal that I got with the RF-7's from The Good Guys store. I don't know just how much a difference the cables really make because I have not tested it to compare it with regular wire cable, so I'm clueless if it's really worth it or not. They look nice though! You can read more about them at the Good Guys and Monster site here: http://www.monstercable.com/productPage.asp?pin=33 http://www.goodguys.com/adtemplate.asp?invky=577375&catky=
  10. *Huh? What's getting in front of the port that you have to keep moving? The padding inside?* mOOn, yes the foam padding inside. I'm not sure what glue can hold down foam padding? Or maybe another better way to keep them in place?
  11. Thanks everyone! It is hard to write about how something sounds, and a lot of you guys are much better than I with it! Thanks DeanG! You do a darn good job at it from what I've read here!! Maybe one day I will do as well as you...... maybe! Also thanks for posting the crossover picture, very nice! Now you really have me lusting for a pair of Klipschorn's! Love for that day to come! jacksonbart, thanks..... Yes, it is a big room I have but I just hope that the RF-7's will sound great when I move them into a smaller room!! I'm single now, so I have to give up my big house..... just can't afford it on my own and it's too much house for one person. Time to sell and move into something smaller, but such is life sometimes, huh guys! I purposely didn't mention the other two amps by name because I didn't want to upset anyone if they have those amps and get a little sensitive to my opinion on them. I have learned things like that on here by now. BillH2121, thanks for the reminder! I did remember to check the bass ports when I first setup the RF-7's from what I read and one was blocking the port so I fixed it. I did notice that after some heavy deep bass playing on a CD that has alot of bass throughout, that the bass port became a little blocked again so I think it can also move during deep bass output, so I'm going to have to figure out how to glue or make something to keep it in place. Klipsch should probably have it clipped down in place so it can't move during shipping or during playing music. Wow cjgeraci, sounds like you put a lot of work into making your Belles sound their very best! Sounds very nice, makes me want a pair to hear them at home! I would love to even have a Belles or LaScala! I know if I had one home, I just know that it will sound a lot better home than it did at the dealers! I would love to have a pair to atleast try at home and see! Wishful thinking I know. Thank you oscarsear, if I'm ever over that way..... I might take you up on that! tkdamerica, that's why I don't like to mention the name and probably shouldn't have. I've never owned anything Denon so I can't speak personally about them but the setup there was going through so much that even an amp that does sound good on the RF-7, may not by the time it's going through all that switching setup. It may be very well that the Denon goes well with it and sounds like it by what you are saying, so it's likely it was something else in the setup other than the Denon. I do agree with you that the RF-7's do female vocals very nice and accurate, as well as male vocals. timbley, I agree with you about the room being an important part. I've read that many times and that's why I will be nervous when moving the RF-7's to a smaller room when that time comes! Thank you J.4knee, for explaining how the Klipschorn's sound. Just what I thought that the setup was the problem. I would have loved to hear them as you describe but I'm still going to try to! I really want to hear them at their best! Sounds like it will be a real treat. I can't wait! Thanks every one!! Kathy
  12. I forgot to mention that the Klipschorn's were new models. I also forgot to mention that I also listen to the new LaScalas and what he had on the LaScalas made it sound better than the Klipschorn's, although LaScalas didn't sound probably at their best either with the bad setup. He had the LaScalas too close and both pointing straight into the room. I forgot to mention that I saw the new crossover in the LaScala. Wow, I was impressed with the hefty new crossover compared to the old builds! They look very high quality and big! I asked the guy if the Klipschorn's have the same new crossovers as the LaScala and he said yes they were but just tuned a little different for their enclosures. Do the Klipschorn's use the same new crossovers? I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality and looks of the new LaScala crossovers! You guys would be very impressed with how nice and different looking it looks to the older versions. I have to say it looks like Klipsch is doing a very nice job with the quality of the new crossovers!!! Wish I had a picture to show you guys, I really do think you would be impressed! I tried to peek at the crossovers in the Klipschorn's but they were tight in the corners where I couldn't see in the back of them.
  13. I've been breaking-in a brand new pair of Klipsch RF-7 speakers over the past few weeks. The speakers weigh about 95 pounds each so I had to get help moving them to the right spot in my house. It took two girls and one guy to move them into place and I was so nervous we were going to drop one going up the stairs with them but all went well. I love the weight, I don't like it when a speaker is feather-lite. The RF-7 feel and look a very nice quality. The only complaint I can find with them are the feet, seem too cheapy and my friend's husband told me that his broke when he tilted his back too far but that he replaced the feet with a nice metal set so I'll have to look into that, I do wish Klipsch would have made them metal! The speaker grills seem fine to me with the quality of it, I've seen much cheaper ones but Klipsch did pretty good on the grill, a heftier than most. They sounded much better in my home than at "The Good Guys". I noticed the difference right away. I was very impressed with the sound from the beginning, although the highs were slightly bright and harsh at first but about two days of play, they went to very smooth. I also noticed a lack of bass in the beginning but after about one week, the bass was deep down low, tight, and impressive. The bass that the RF-7's give is so good that you do not need a sub at all. This will greatly depend on your amplifier though. I have three different amps and I got very much three very different results. I knew from my research on the RF-7's that two of my amps wouldn't do that well but the Rotel equipment would. I wanted to try and see. One amp was too bright and harsh where it was hard to listen to for very long. The other amp was a little warmer but kind of harsh in the highs and both amps really lacked in the bass area. My Rotel RB-1090 amp gives the RF-7's just what they want, the sound is very musical, dynamic, great slam and punching bass.... best I ever heard! The detail is incredible. The soundstage is huge, wide, and open. The other two amps suffered with too narrow of a soundstage. I can really see how the RF-7's need just the right equipment to sound their very best! It's quite incredible to hear the RF-7's best, it leaves me feeling very satisfied, thrilled, very involving, stunning, live, and big performance, leaving me in such awe with the RF-7. It leaves me with wanting nothing more, as if nirvana has been found. I was concerned about the midrange lacking with the RF-7's two-way design. This is another area where it is very important to pick the right equipment. My other two amps did not give the midrange with the RF-7 is capable of and gave some disappointing results. My Rotel RB-1090 gave the midrange a very involving forward and smooth midrange with great clarity and detail and absolutely beautiful accurate male and female vocals. It didn't lack in the midrange at all with the Rotel RB-1090 so I think you need to pick an amp with very good ampage, the Rotel RB-1090 is 380watts per channel, and no, it is NOT an overkill at all. It gives it all it's best! I really think you cannot go any less than 200watts per channel with the RF-7's if you want the best midrange and bass output. My other two amps never even came close to achieving the sound quality given by the Rotel RB-1090 on every level. I think that Klipsch has an exceptional product here if equipment is chosen wisely! I cannot even describe the detail, resolution, articulation, dimensionality, and how the RF-7's can recreate room dimensions of the recorded source. You can even hear when a singer moves 3 to 6 inches away from the mic when singing! It's incredibly amazing! If a CD has a bad recording, the RF-7 do let you know.....even if unpleasant!! Great recording sound phenomenal! The greatness and dynamics of the RF-7 have my Martin Logans sounding so lacking now and what's so amazing is the RF-7's cost so much less than my Martin Logans. Yes, I will be getting rid of my Martin Logans with the first found buyer! The Logans never, but never gave me bass like the RF-7's and that was always the big disappoint with the Logans. The Logans just cannot do the dynamics and dimensionality of the RF-7's! The Martin Logans are very impressive for what they are but just doesn't do it for me like the Klipsch RF-7's can do. I think I will be a hooked Klipsch addict from here on out for life! Ok, now on to the Klipschorn speakers! I've been thinking just how in the World can anything surpass the RF-7's performance. I've been very curious to hear the Klipschorn's so over the weekend I made the 240 mile trip up to Seattle, Washington to have a listen..... and a weekend vacation. I was so hoping to hear the potential of the Klipschorn's but I really don't feel that I did. The listening was a disappointment. I really feel that the place has them not setup at it's best for equipment and not direct to the speakers, going through too much switchboard options for equipment and speakers. When the Klipschorn's started playing, I noticed the big sound that my RF-7's do about the same. I thought.....hmmmm.... isn't it supposed to be bigger. The demo room was smaller than my room that I have the RF-7's in so that could be the problem. My room the RF-7s are in is 30 feet by 40 feet with 23 foot v.ceiling. The Klipschorn's were in a room that was about 25 feet by 10 feet and 8 foot ceiling. I also noticed a great absents in the presentation, resolution, dimensions, and detail I'm used to hearing in the RF-7's. The bass was definitely better with the RF-7 being with much slam and punch, whereas the Klipschorn's were a much more relaxed type of bass. The Klipschorn was being run off a Carver ZR1600 amp and I can't say that it went very well with it, seemed to make the Klipschorn edgy sounding and the midrange sounded harsh compared to the much smoother midrange of the RF-7. I did notice that the Klipschorn midrange does have a more forward midrange and does have slight more detail in the midrange than the RF-7's. The RF-7's come close but just a little harder to hear with the RF-7's than the Klipschorn's. I also listened to the RF-7's while there and they had it on a Denon amp and I don't think that goes well with it either, the RF-7's sounded so crappy and dead sounding than what I'm used to hearing at home. Not the sound I know that the RF-7's can do at all! It would really leave one with the wrong impression of the RF-7's. It's a real shame some places don't set things up right to get the best out of these speakers! I was so hoping to really hear the Klipschorn's potential while in Seattle and I really feel I didn't get to hear the true nature of the Klipschorn's! My CD's I brought with me for listening didn't even sound the same as what I'm used to, was such a disappointment. Real shame! The salesman was also the type that he thought turning the volume up to 71 with the Klipschorn's was how it was to be heard. I had to jump off the sofa and get to the back of the room before the Klipschorn's took my skin and ears off, way too much volume! They do get loud but I wanted to evaluate, not damage my ears! I think the only way I will get a true quality evaluation from the Klipschorn's is to find someone local that would be willing to let me listen to theirs. Please guys, don't take my disappointment of the Klipschorn's to heart! I know they have to be a great speaker with the following they have here, it's just I really don't think it was run with the right equipment to give me it's true potential, in fact I know it, I just felt right away that something was wrong with the setup or amp it was being used with. I'm really looking forward to hear just how great the Klipschorn's sound in the near future, and soon I hope! Klipsch has me feeling like, why bother with any other speaker when I have a Klipsch !!! Maybe that sould be their new logo!!! "Klipsch - Why bother with any other speaker" Sounds good to me!!!!
  14. AmpHandle, the mid-range is there, just as if it had a mid-range but to get this, I've noticed that you do have to use a high quality amp to achive it, and to get all the best that the RF-7 can give after trying different amps with it. Your Rotel RB-1080 will give you this. I'm using a Rotel RB-1090 and the RF-7's sound wonderful with it, deep tight bass, great smooth highs, wonderful detail in the low, mid, and highs!!! I've been absent here since I've been doing the break-in for the new Klipsch RF-7 speakers and so far, I'm very impressed, amazed, and in total music bliss. I think my Martin Logan's are going to leave me now, I don't even want them anymore after the Klipsch! I plan to tell more after more break-in time but the RF-7's are incredible and amazing. Klipsch sure has a great product!!! with the RF-7!
  15. *"hot chick discount."* Now that is funny! I had to laugh when I read that, funny, I'll have to remember that one! Hmmm, maybe this is why I have a hard time getting some bargins with sales-woman! Hmmm, just a thought but I loved a dress that I wanted and the lady was asking too much and rudely snapped at me and told me it was worth every penny for the asking price and that I greatly insulted her asking for a discount. She was so rude and just a simply no or yes would have done me fine!
  16. Thanks Anarchist for the kind words! So nice. You've got me now, I don't think the guys are going to like it, but no... I'm not a football fan. Sorry!! I've tried in the past but it's not for me, I just couldn't get into it. I do love audio though. I used to play music for hours in my bedroom growing up back home on a simple little record player. I used to get into my parents old records and listen to all of them to see what they sound like. I think that's why I love some of the old past music/artist too! Ok, I now have the RF-7 playing at home right now for some break-in while I'm here at work so I can listen more when I get home. I'm on my lunch break now so I'm running out of time but will let you know what I think of the RF-7's.
  17. How long do tubes last? How often do you have to replace them? Just curious since I know nothing about them.
  18. Wow Chris, most impressive! Very nice. Now, can you build me a pair just like that! They are really nice, you've done a great job, and the finish work looks superb.
  19. I don't have any plans to move towards tubes. I haven't every tried them, I heard them at a high-end audio store here locally and I don't know if it was the system or combo but they wanted $80,000.00 for the whole set with speakers and it sounded too soft and un-involving to me. Even the CD player had tubes in it. My friend's husband has the Rotel RB-1080 that he uses with his RF-7's and it sounds great. It sounds a lot better to me than the $80,000.00 system I heard. I thought a system that cost that much should really blow me away but it didn't. Maybe I'm missing something? I already have some Rotel equipment. I have the RB-1090 and RC-1090 that I'll run with the RF-7's. I've talked to a few people here in the Klipsch forum and some over in the Rotel Club fourm at http://htguide.com/forum and quite a few people are running the RB-1090 and RF-7's and promise me that the combo is superb together so I think tonight..... I might do it, I'm going to talk to Good Guys tonight and come home with the RF-7's if they still have it in Cherry wood. He's really making me a good deal that I know for that price, there's no way I would get that sound even at some higher prices. I'm replacing my Martin Logan's with the RF-7's. The Martin Logan's are very revealing but I've never been completely happy with them and the bass lacks where I've never been able to solve it, although the RB-1090 has given it more bass than anything else I tried. I later learned it's just plastic used to make the electro sounds when something went wrong and they had to replace the plastic when the sound went out in 2 years. I hear a lot of bass from the RF-7 at my friend's house than I ever get out of my Martin Logan's but other ML users have told me I need to get a sub-woofer with them since the ML don't do well doing it.
  20. Oh My Stars! I just checked out John Warren's website and what a handy man! Looks like he can really build! Very impressive! I sure need a guy who can build like that! Guys that can do things like that have always amazed me so. Where do you guys learn all that from? Wow. He can build me a set of speakers any day!
  21. That explains why the Klipsch Premiere has the pointed cones like the Paradigm! It's nice to see that Klipsch is going to offer a higher end line, I just hope Klipsch will put better terminal post on their speakers for connecting speaker cables. Every time I see the back of a Klipsch speaker, my very first thought is why didn't Klipsch give better WBT connectors? I noticed even on the Klipsch RF-7 that it would have been nice to have the 5-way Heavy-duty gold-plated WBT connectors. The RF-7's are small and plastic coated over little metal, and a little too close together. Well, I'm thinking that I may go talk to the sales guy tonight at The Good Guys and getting the RF-7's. He's making me a great deal on them and I really think they are a huge value for that price and I keep really liking the sound, just very amazing every time I hear them. I want them in Cherry, so I hope they aren't out of them because he said they sell out of the Cherry fast but always seem to have the blacks in stock.
  22. *Don't give Dean credit for scanning it ! I did it for him a long while back* NOSValves - Craig, Thank you too! For scanning and sharing, nice of you to help us out here! Appreciate that!
  23. DeanG, thanks! You have me blushing now! Is that good or bad, not sure who John Warren is, guess I better look that up on Google and see. Bill H, hmmm, now I'm confused! Are you saying I'm John Warren? I take it that there is a person here named that? I will have to check out the post and see what you mean by my comment is exactly like John Warren??? Thanks if this means a good thing, if not.... I'm a bit stumped!
  24. I'm thinking about getting the RF-7's too! I'm coming very close to getting a pair. I'm going to get mine from "The Good Guys". I looked at them last night and they really sound wonderful, so BIG and LIVE sound like I've never heard before. The Good Guys will work on making you a really good deal, they already made me a good deal, plus they already have them in stock so I won't have to pay for shipping! That I like! All I have to do is tell the sales guy yes at this point and I'll have them in Cherry wood!!! I don't care for the black compared to the Cherry wood, but I know that's personal. I think the copper cones colors go better with the cherry wood color. My best friend's husband has the RF-7's and he swears they are the best speaker out of anything out there, including the $25,000.00 speakers he compared them to, that's how big an effect it has on him. He got his from "The Good Guys" too. That's how I found out about them when I heard them when I was visiting my friend a few times. I think I'm going to be hooked on horns for life now. My friend's husband is using a Rotel RB-1080 with his and yes the Rotel goes so very well with the Klipsch RF-7's! I already have some Rotel equipment so I won't need to change that! Good Luck with your new RF-7's, don't forget to tell us how you love them! Kathy
  25. Thanks all for the help! Thanks so much *DeanG* for scanning, sending, and sharing that with me! I really appreciate the time you took to do that, the article was quite helpful, thanks so much again!!!! Kathy
