  1. .......And there you have it [ip].........Cheers!!
  2. Out of all the discussions on the XTI's, that's kind of what I got out of it to a certain extent. [:S]Good amps.........that test bad........on the "bench test"? Sooooo, as long as I don't do any testing on them............I'll continue to be satisfied.
  3. Preamp = Brains, personality Power amp = The muscle Different combinations of the preamp, power amp and loudspeakers create a unique outcome of what you hear coming out of your speakers. The preamp and the speakers have the biggest influence on what you hear.
  4. I brought one of my 2000's over to a friends house some months back and we powered his Cornwall's with it and we were very astonished with the results. We just started dancing. (Bose commercial) [] []
  5. Wow artto.........you're not messing around. I checked out about half of your thread and your room and gear are incredible!!! Very nice work. [] It baffles me how some of these stereo shops are trying to sell speakers that cost more than my Chevy Tahoe are in rooms that have the absolute worst room acoustics..........glass, tile floors etc. Too bad.
  6. Yup, that's my style.........do it all by ear/trial and error. Their is sooooo much info on the internet for room acoustics. I wouldn't doubt that there is a "test disk" of some kind out there. [:^)]
  7. A friend of mine used XTI's with KLF-30's and was somewhat underwhelmed..............he then used the XTI with his KG 5.5's and liked it very much. Perhaps it has something to do with a two-way speaker vs. a three way speaker (a three-way being more revealing) ? [*-)]
  8. I've used XTI's with Forte ll's and with Heresy's.............[N][N] I'm curently using XTI's with RF-7's, RB-75's and room treatments.............[Y][Y]
  9. I guess I would say that I use it as an "enhancement" box. []
  10. Treating early reflection points and bass traps are no joke. [] A few days ago I removed the absorption panels that were on my fireplace (rock). A couple days went by without putting them back in place.......I kinda forgot about them.........did some listening sessions that were very loud (to say the least)..........and heard some harshness in the highs that was really eating away at me the next day at work. Then it dawned on me that I never replaced the absorbers.........Got home that night, did some listening, put the absorbers back in place at the reflection points and the highs were mellowed out immediately. I run Crown amps with RF-7's and yes, they can be bright at high volumes. Treating the early reflection points certainly helps A LOT with my gear (and room). I took it one step further and treated more of my fireplace.........very satisfying results. [] Experimenting with room acoustics is an interesting and rewarding process. An upgrade that is cheap in comparison to buying better gear. []
  11. Yes, and your receiver should probably be set to 80hz. The lowpass setting on the sub turned all the way up will ensure the sub rolling off properly with the speakers.
  12. Atta Boy...........enuff subbage for the whole neighborhood. [Y]
  13. Inexpensive..........Pro-amps like Crown, QSC etc. will get the job done with RF-7's. I power my 7's with Crown amps and they rock. [Y] YMMV []
  14. What do you plan on powering the speakers with? Having a minimal income at only 14 years old...........Keep an eye out for used equipment as well as speakers. Their are some great deals out there if you're patient. []
  15. Stupid question...........no such thing. [] I started with the Synergy line.......went to Reference and Heritage speakers and never looked back.
  16. Did I say 12"woofers? I meant to say 15"woofers!!! []
  17. Exactly......an RF-7 version of the KLF-30. I prefer the sound of the 7's. []
  18. X2The 83's sound nice and snappy to my ears.......but not as bold and *** kicking as the 7's. Perhaps taste in music would dictate the decision between the two. My ideal speaker might be an RF-7 with 12" woofers and a horn to match accordingly for rock music..........in the meantime, two 10's are doing just fine though. []

    Settings?

Experiment...Experiment...[] Try everything......Location of the sub may be the biggest influence on how well the sub performs in your particular room with your particular speakers.
  20. Would RF-7's benefit from that amp? [:^)]..........coming from someone who really pushes his 7's to the max. [li]
  21. I started with the Synergy line about six years ago. F-3's.........you've only begun to scratch the surface of what Klipsch speakers can offer. [] In my opinion.......Klipsch offer high-end sound without the high-end price. Clarity and detail that always leaves me wanting more. [Y] If you like the F-3's..........RF-7's or RF-83's will make you drool.
  22. I combined both for a few years and it worked great. Then I got away from home theatre and found that a dedicated two-channel preamp is far better for music than a receiver. A receiver got me by for a long time with good results...............but not great results in comparison.
