  1. I am realizing the same thing. I still have the stock tubes...........wondering which tubes to try next. Rock music gets played mostly.....with RF-7's.[*-)]
  2. You're gonna love 'em. [] Chances are you'll have a larger room in the future anyway. If they were Heritage speakers........I'd say downsize. It is overkill for a room that size but I think you'll definitely enjoy them.[Y]
  3. $6000.00 msrp............How much will you be able to get one for? If you're gonna get one for even half the msrp..........might as well pick up a Crown XTI 2000 for a measly $600.00 and compare the two side by side. Unless money isn't an issue.[]
  4. Has anyone here moded the crossover in the KLF 30's? I've read plenty of positive feedback on RF-7 crossover mods from Dean........just wondering if anyone experienced the same with KLF 30's. Was it a significant improvement...........or just not really even worth it? Thanks, Scott.
  5. .........Waiting patiently for someone to rip open a Bose Wave Radio acousti-mess and snap some pictures......amp porn or funniest home videos[]
  6. I would agree with CECAA850........with the only difference being that I'd up it to 400 to 500 wpc to truly appreciate the RF-7's........srtrictly from my own experience with them. Pro-amps with a quality preamp can be very impressive........depending on your listening requirements/taste in music. [] The RF-7's may be the pickiest Klipsch speaker to mate amps/preamps with. I have two pair......and a third pair on the way!![Y]
  7. .............I'm still hurtin'.......been a good boy though........ain't listening to Cher either. What could have compelled me to post.........at least I kept it clean.[]
  8. I had a hiss with my XTI------>active crossover------->RF-7's for about five minutes until I added a cheater plug on the active. Now it is dead silent.
  9. Pro-amps are typically standard width and about only 3.5" in height.
  10. Cool. Keep us posted on your impressions!!
  11. Nothing has to be activated in the menu.........Are you using it for the sub or your speakers?
  12. Hi Jay, First of all, the speaker volumes hav to be at a minimum of +5db to allow the amp to work properly. When I used my XTI's with my 3805, I had them at +9db. Hope this helps.[]
  13. Yes, cw_82's Cornwall's made me drool as well.......powered by the Eastern Electric tube amps.[] Jim, you gotta hear this Cambridge Audio preamp I'm demo-ing from Simply Stereo. With my RF-7's, it sounds incredible. I don't think it's gonna leave my shelf.[Y]
  14. When I had the XLS 802's...........I put some clear transparent tape over the front grills. Poked about 1/3 as many holes in it so it could still ventilate.......it eliminated about 50% of the fan noise from the front. The fan mods are simple........but the tape was simpler.[] I went one step further and put some fabric about one foot behind the amp, up against the wall to dampen the fan noise that was reflecting off the wall. Again, simple yet very effective. Since I got the XTI's........fan noise is not an issue........period.[]
  15. Well, I'm gonna keep it.........can't begin to tell you what this affordable integrated amp has done for my system!! Thumbs up to the Cambridge Audio people...........it seems clear to me that this preamp works very well with horn speakers.
  16. You''ll be happy with either pair. The 7's have more "drive" while the 83's are more "snappy". I don't know about the 83's..........but the 7's need significant power driving them to truly appreciate them. Low power will make the 7's really sing.........but more power to them will rock your world.[]
  17. Anyone using this integrated preamp? I have one on loan right now from my local Klipsch supplier. I'm diggin' it.[Y] About a week ago, did the usual drooling over listening to LaScalla ll's........Cornwalls......Heresy's.......etc. Went into a different listening room and listened to a Cambridge Audio 540a integrated with I beleive they were RF-63's. I was really impressed with the sound quality.........warm sounding with very nice detail. And the bass.......I thought a sub was playing.......no sub, just full sounding bass that I was surprised to hear coming from the 63's. I went back there yesterday to pick it up for an in house demo. I'm glad I did. Using it as a preamp with my XTI-2000's and RF-7's it sounds absolutely wonderful. Warm, non-fatiguing, detailed sound juiced up by the power of the Crown's. At $425.00 I can't see me not snagging this baby. I think it's a keeper.[]
  18. With gas prices what they are....you don't really need to be driving around.....throw a pair on your credit card for me also.[] Count me in !!!
  19. I use Crown XTI 2000's to power my RF-7's. 475 wpc @ 8 ohms------------> 800 wpc @ 4 ohms $625.00 each.
  20. Hi Jordan--- What is your system primarily used for.......HT or music?
  21. I almost fooled myself the other day by thinking that my speakers sounded so good that they didn't need a sub......well they don't need a sub.......they need FOUR subs.[]
  22. Yeah, we'll need pics...........before and after they put the straight jacket on.[]
  23. Perhaps just stay locked up in the studio and do what they do best.
  24. Good call. I would see if you can get an in-home trial, and compare the systems 1 after the other. No better way to tell than a direct comparison. In my experience, a side by side comparison almost always has favored Klipsch........with price as a priority. The last one I had...........a $4000.00 pair of PSB speakers (model?) next to RF-10's powered by a hybrid amp. Four grand? Give me a break.[^o)]
  25. How were they? I've never seen Def Leppard but did see Journey about five-six years ago. Journey was pretty good.........it was cool to hear them live.....sounded really good, unlike their cd's that I own.
