  4. I agree and thats why Im so upset. HTPC's are very cool indeed, but now that microsoft is trying to capitalize/control and they will only ruin it. I will admit, one the of the coolest things about HTPC is that its uncommon. I'm looking at the advertisement for MS and I see this 12 year old little kid playing around with one. I'm sorry, but if my kids wont be touching my home theater let alone my computer. Its not some simple little happy device that everyone can just jump on and mess around with, otherwise it would suck. Microsoft is trying fit this product into the family scene and it will only degenerate its image/features/usefulness. In a sense what I am trying to say is that microsoft is making this for newbies and its NOT for newibes. I dont want to walk into starbucks and see two idiots running an HTPC off their HDTV with stock television speakers discussing how cool it is. It WONT BE COOL at that point. Catch my drift? HTPC was invented by end users, not by anyone! Its a phenomona of the merge of Television, Home Theater and Computers development and implemented by non other than elite and inovative users. Making it mass market will change it, and for better or worse i wont like it.
  5. "Only idiots buy me, this is as close to a computer as you can get without a mouse and keyboard, windows XP has everything I have and lot more, dont buy me, ever period" that's the only new rull for now. thoughts?

  8. I'm pretty sure its 350 a pair. 350 each would put em higher than most of the reference stuff. Klipsch would be foolish to do that. Example: A pair of RB-35's are only 600 msrp, which would be 100 less than a pair of SLX's? No way!
  9. Yap, if they did sell these online, you'll see the Sub-12 drop in price. Best buy is more like Retail Buy, they will never drop thier price if they are the only store selling it. Thats why they always had the SWS at 199 bucks! DONT MAKE THAT MISTAKE KLIPSCH! THE SWS FAILED FOR THAT REASON!
  10. Speaking of the size of the box. Why does SVS oversize their subwoofers? Arguably, they also happen to achieve what are known to be the deepest subwoofers. Some say the trade off is overall SPL.

    RSW 15 ?

Why don't we back a bit? What speakers will you be matching *this* subwoofer with?
  13. this is interesting: RW-8: 103dB @ 30Hz 1/8 space, 1 meter RSW-10: 109dB @ 30Hz 1/8 space, 1 meter RW-10: 110dB @ 30Hz 1/8 space, 1 meter RW-12: 113dB @ 30Hz 1/8 space, 1 meter Sub-10: 115dB @30 Hz 1/8 space 1 meter Sub-12: 117dB @30 Hz 1/8 space 1 meter RSW-12: 119dB @ 30Hz 1/8 space, 1 meter RSW-15: 121dB @ 30Hz 1/8 space, 1 meter
  14. Awesome, are they out yet?
  15. speaking of which, what are the specs of this new driver?

  17. I used to own the PB12-ISD. I was not too impressed and returned it. I'm looking at this new Sub-12 to match my RSX's. One thing about the SVS is it did not seem to blend very well with the higher crossover. It was very apparent when it would kick in, then on top of that it had consistency issues with how hard it would hit. I'm very interested in seeing how this new sub would match with a higher crossover speaker like some RSX-5's. I would be inclined to get the RW-12, but it has a mixed reputation for its price point. It also doest come in silver so it would not match my silver rsx's. But if this sub earns a good reputation for its price point, I would jump on it in a heart beat. I really wanted a PC-Ultra but I feel it would be over powering for my system. I have to be realistic and say... ok thats for RF-7's when I get em Of course, by then, Klipsch may have new reference subwoofers! Speaking of price, what is the projected MSRPs of these subs?
  18. How does the Sub-12 compare to the RW-12?
  19. Audio Precision makes great tools, thanks for the info Andy! I'm excited to see how well this new sub mates with the rsx-3's

    rsx-5

survive the party test. I helped host a salsa dance party at UCSB, we had about 30+ people, and the I brought my tiny RSX-5's along for the ride. I was impress how well they held up with 30 people screaming in one room. You would be surprised how loud it gets when 30 people start trying to talk over speakers. I was able to set them up high away from the hands of people and then angle them down to get decent soundstage, worked well for the party to keep em safe! Salsa dancing is crazy!
  21. My PB12 would play inconstantly when I did bass tests at given FQ's. Seems like it would hit really hard once, then the next would be 5-10dB lower, then hard again. Same test, over and over, bass slide for about 2 seconds with a 2 second pause before the next test. It did this for music too if there was enough bass. My sub did not seem broken because it worked most of the time, but this really made it seem weak because it was not bottoming out or anything, but just running out of gas and the only thing that would correct it was waiting a few seconds... not a great experience for me. I'll try a + or ultra next time. I'm saying away from the ISDs. I would not go near the pb10 if its anything like the 12, unless mine was broken?
  22. Joe, do you know the difference between the 42 and the rcx-4. On paper they are a match expect for the side ported design vs rear, so I dont understand the price difference. Yap, RVX-52 would be awesome Edit: you have almos the exact same set up as me, 4's in the back, 5's up front.
  23. so what I do i get for 398 bucks? A scam?
  24. In short, no, the 25 is a better speaker, but it may not match as well sonically, and it surely wont make athletically however that is obviously less important. I wish Klipsch would make an RCX-5 or RVX-52, but oh well. I own rsx-5's and the rcx-4 goes nicely with them as a center, thought its not a perfect sonic match. I do find the rcx-4, like the rsx-4's to be a bit shrilly when pushed, but never the less its a powerful little speaker. I do not know if the rc-25 will sound the same because I think the horns are different and I know the crossover is lower. Also, the RCX-4 is virtually identical to the RVX-42 as far as sound quality and performance. Their specs are the exact same. I'd would check out the rcx-4 first, its only 200 bucks from an authorized dealer and if you dont like it, get a bigger one. The 42 is a bigger risk because its a lot more money for what I can tell --no apparent reason. I have not heard the 54's yet, but there are a few threads here that pair them very closely with the RF-35's and even besting them in a few catagories.
