  1. The bigger box just allows the driver to reach lower more efficiency, in fact, it will lower it across the FQ scale as proven when you compare the 25-31 to the 16-46, am i wrong? I dont own the pb10, but this is what I know. the rw-12 driver is more efficient, has more power and has more surface area, so its going to be louder unless there is something obvious Im missing. The PB10 is turned to go lower. I'll take the RW in that case because i listen to 20hrz and below about 1% of the time. I have not done a head to head, so I admit, I could be completely wrong, but I feel strongly enough about this to say wait a sec, Klipsch subwoofer are not this BAD. Ill tell ya this, I think if Klipsch made RW subs with dual powered drivers, bigger enclosure, and larger port, they could really compete against SVSs ISD line. RW-8/2 10/2 and 12/2 would be neato!
  2. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=Klipsch%20iFi&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=wf looks like it
  3. It is amazing that Klipsch speakers can be driven with so little power, Makes you wonder why people buy 200wpc amp's to drive a pair of RF-7's.. headroom my ***, more like waste of money. The reason it sounds better is because the amp itself is just better quality. Awesome job with your new Klipsch, maybe Ill get lucky and own that system one day. btw, might, hit the capslock key when you get a chance ;p
  4. PC-Ultra without a doubt. It has 25 more watts than the Samson 1000 (500x2, can not be bridged) amp, and its a lot cheaper to buy than the CS-Ultra Plus amp. Plus, the PC has a built in single node PEQ, crossover control, phase and gain. You'll ahve to buy an extra componet (SVS Amp Interface)to get phase, crossover with the CS's which adds 160 more dollars to the price. Then if you want EQ, you can spend 400 more for a nice 5 node PEQ.
  5. Interesting that the PB12-Plus/2 is compariable to a pair of of the THX subs - huge price difference
  6. I would go with the RW-12, the pb10 is capable but the RW-12 has more surface area and more power, the PB12 will dig deeper but I don't think its going to give you much over the RW-12 other than that. I also happen to own an SVS sub so I'm speaking from experience.
  7. ziad_228, I'd like to answer the question that was not addressed (Cinema 10/8 vs Bose), which seems to be a much more reasonable question. Cinema 10/8/6 . These are more or less pseudo systems that Klipsch sort of sample selects for you. Sort of like the soup of the day, You can have it, or you can order something more specific. These systems dont actually come all in one box. If you want the cinema 10, you'll have to buy the RW-10 subwoofer, then 4 RSX-5's sats and 1 RCX-4 center speaker. You'll have six boxes left over. But those 6 boxes are still less money than the Bose AM flagship 6.1 system. And because both systems are considered to be high end micro or satellite surround sound systems and because they are similar priced. They can be compared! After owning Promedia systems for many years I decided to up my multimedia experience and invest in some better satellites. I went with the RSXs and at the time I got them there were almost no reviews. There are 3 different RSX sats each a different size and price. The RSX-3 is the smallest with 0.75 tweeter and a 3.5 driver, the RSX-4 has a 1 tweeter and 4 driver and the RSX-5 with a 1 tweeter and 5.25 driver. I have not heard the RSX-3 but I do own RSX-4s and RSX-5s and RCX-4 which is a center speaker with dual 4 drivers. Talking about a speaker in relation to nothing other than itself is sort of pointless. Most speakers sound pretty good with nothing to compare them to. Its when you hear a better speaker then you realize the differences and appreciate them. So because you asked and because I did, I will compare the RSXs t the bose cubes. (YIKES!) The RSX-3 is closets in size to the cubes, but the RSX-5 is closets in price being that it retails for 200 which is exactly what one of the bose cubes retails for. The RSX-4 is 150 and the RSX-3 is more like 130. Perhaps Ill start with the differences between the 4 and the 5. Amazingly these two speakers are very similar. They sound almost identical and in a blind sound test you probably could not tell them apart until you reach very high levels. The RSX-5 handles the mid bass a bit better, still not great compared to bookshelfs, but decent for a rear ported satellite. The RSX-5 also is less prone to distortion at high levels than the 4 or 3. This is natural because it has a larger driver and can reach higher SPL before distorting. The SPL is really the biggest advantage between the two, and I prefer the RSX-5 because of this. I should also note that the RSX-5 is a fair amount larger than the 4 which is much closer in size to the 3. Now, onto Bose. You would think Bose is all looks and finesse, but up-close, the you would never agree with that. Take the dust cover off the Bose cube and then compare that to the RSX and have yourself a Ford parked next to a Ferrari. You look at what Klipsch can do for 130 bucks (RSX-3) and compare that to the 200 dollar Bose cube and you almost wouldnt even care to hear a sound test because you could almost assume which was going to win. But you humor yourself and take em for a test drive. In other words, the bose cube is not very attractive with its dust cover removed, it actually looks quiet cheap! BTW its really hard to get those dust covers off those cubes (I think thats for a reason, lol) The Klipsch coverts come off easy via magnets, its very slick indeed! Upon listening, the Bose sats do sound surprising pleasing, nothing disruptive or ugly, they have a somewhat warm and comfortable sound that doest get irritating or harsh. Turning up the Bose speakers youll quickly find their SPL limits and distort them. I found that the tiny Bose cubes could not do very well filling up a moderately sized room. Playing the Klipsch speakers after the Bose is kind of like getting out a hot tub and jumping into a cold swimming poll, you wake up all your nerves in your entry body start to fire and you feel an incredible sensation! The titanium tweeters that Klipsch packs into these little RSXs resemble their larger renown horns. Suddenly you realize that the warm and fuzzy sound of Bose was more like the lack of sound that was not being replicated very well. The Klipsch tweeters were easily able to out gun the 2.5 upper mid range driver of the bose cube (note that the bose cubes use dual 2.5 drivers, but they are slightly different, one does higher FQ while the other does lower). The fun does not stop their, the Klispch midrange driver gave a much more satisfying and punchy edge to the music. They were nearly able to play to 80hrz flat which is the reference point for movies per THX code. They RSXs can only hit 95ish hrz flat, but still strong down to 70hrz blending nicely with a subwoofer without allowing it to become too revealing. This I feel is Boses greatest weakness, their tiny sats cant hit a whisper below 280hrz and everything below that is left up to the subwoofer which forces to reveal itself in a very nasty way. The Bose cubes do not produce midbass at all. All in all, the Klipsch RSXs are far better than the Bose solutions and really should not be compared. The RSXs could run with the best of the small sat systems and I would be eager to see this. The RSX are actually quite amazing for their size and have impressed a lot of Klipsch owners who have the larger siblings to the tiny RSXs.
  8. kev313, do you know how to use one of these?
  9. They are more or less the same with slightly different tuning FQ. One happens to weight a lot more and take up more space, the other is cylinder.
  10. Cambridge SoundWorks makes great stuff, but in this case, I would say without a doubt the iFi is going to rock it to pieces. Thats just my option because I have not hear either system, but I have hear similar systems by both manufactures. The model 12 looks to just have a smallish 6.5" subwoofer in a very small portable case? Thats exactly what a subwoofer should not be. I have no idea what the satellite detentions are on the model 12, but the RSX-3's would be very tuff to beat with similar sized components. What I can say is for 400 bucks, definitely listen to both before buying.
  11. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, They are not heritage subwoofers!
  12. Looks like I'm too late to do any good, but I hope you used bondo, not wood filler. The bondo is much harder and will last a lot longer.
  13. I think this thread is great. Too many of you boost about your beloved RWS's and give little credit to the younger RW line. The fact is the RW's are a lot more economical and use virtually the same components (expect for amplification and port rather than passive radiator) as the RSW's. At least one person can not justify the difference of twice the price for the RSW.
  14. ok, then what about the radio? width, height, length?
  15. thx for the input guys, I'll check all the suggestions out.
  16. I figured. How you would rate the RSX-1056, I my be able to strech it to 1200 bucks... but I'd really have to like the reciever.
  17. How about a pair of PB12-Ultra's. It would almost be like owning a pair of SS's for 1/2 the price. quoted... Fine Textured Black $1199 Wood grain $1299 (Rosewood, Maple, Walnut, Cherry) Piano Black $1399
  18. Im not interesting in loads of power (watt) as much as I am features and high quality DAC's With this budget, should I look for a receiver or look into separates?
  19. You can't find them anywhere anymore, and you have to admit, they started the whole THX multimedia trend and beyond. They basically set the standard for everything else to come. Thoughts?

A little polyfill in the enclosure may eliminate some of the boominess" FYI The RSW is not a boomy sub.Where did you get that notion from? Just use a proper crossover point.Even when crossed over at a high 80Hz point no RSW is boomy. Some people saying a Sunfire is boomy! Try a Sony WM40 and you will know EXACTLY what a boomy sub is all about.Try any KSW sub and you will also know boomy. Any sub in the wrong room,in the wrong position, crossed over at the wrong frequency will be "boomy". ---------------- He said "RW-12"

  22. Or its like adding 400 pounds to your car and greatly hampering its acceleration, and breaking performance as well as gas mileage and handling. But hey, youre the idiot, Im not.
