However, before pulling the trigger I would like to know your collective opinion on this. Are there any negative aspects to the 1905 that I should be aware of? Are there other Denon models that will provide the same or more capabilities for less money? There are so many Denon models out there that I'm having a hard time making heads or tails of what is what. One thing I want for sure is signal conversion, which the 1905 does. Thanks for any advice you can provide! The 1905 is a terrific receiver for the price and includes three component inputs with video upconvesion to component transmission. I recently installed one at my in-laws and was impressed with the features and sound. BTW, what speakers are you using? I purchased my refurbished Denon 3805 through Dakmart with no problems. I couldn't convince my in-laws to buy the refurb unit and save $200 but I suggest you try it. Dakmart refurbs include a one year factory warranty. Good luck. ----------------
  3. I have a Toshiba 56H80 HD RPTV with no DVI/HDMI input. I'm waiting for 3 chip DLP or LCD that accepts 1080P before I upgrade to a new set. But if I had to buy a set today I'd would be the 62" Mitsubishi with the antiglare screen and the Samsung would be a VERY close second. But if LCD or Plasma 60" sets get to a reasonable price by the time I upgrade I will consider them as well. The 1080i native resolution sets that don't accept 1080P inputs are quite annoying. What are they thinking?
  4. One's interlaced and the other's progressive scan. But you probably knew that. The big deal is whether or not the set can accept a 1080P input. This allows the source device (HD or BD DVD player for example) to do the deinterlacing instead of the TV. In general, there maybe better deinterlacers outside the TV. All deinterlacers are not created equal and can make a big difference on how well the picture is displayed. The new 1080i DLP chips and sets coming out soon do not look like they will accept a 1080P input. I don't believe any LCD or Plasma sets currently on the market will accept a 1080P input but I believe there are a few high end projectors that will. I read the reason for this is the manufacturers state there are no 1080P sources as of yet. Let's hope their attitude changes soon and all sets have the ability to accept a 1080P input. I like the Mitsubishi DLP sets the best and they could be the first to market with the new 1080i native resolution TV's. They have been making DLP sets as long or longer than anybody.
  5. Scott, I've read several articles on the Arcam AVR300 and it appears to be an outstanding receiver. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what, if any, differences the Carver amp provides when you receive it. Good Luck
  6. I'm still considering them and I'll be powering them with a Denon 3805 and using a sub, currently a Mirage (my current system is all Mirage) but will most likely get the SVS PB12-ISD. With the Denon you can run pure direct mode for CD's and use both front speakers and the sub so my sub will be on all the time. Come on, there must be some RVX-54 owners out there that read this forum that can post what they think about these speakers. Either that or there will be some killer deals going on soon if Klipsch isn't selling any.
  7. Bump. I'd still like to hear from some RVX-54 owners. Klipsch, have you sold any???
  8. Joe, thanks for your comments. For me the RVX-42 (or 52) won't work as it's too long for the space I have on my shelf by about 2 inches. So it's the RCX-4 (or 5 if you decide to make one) or the RC-25. So how far off sonically are the RCX-4 and RC-25? And on a scale of 1-10, with the RVX-42 being a 10, how would you rate the others regarding a sonic match? I'm of the thought that having the fronts, center, and rears with the same size driver, and hopefully tweeter, will give a more balanced sound when listening to multichannel music. In addition my experience is that a 5.25" driver will give a fuller sound compared to a 4" driver. My current setup is similar with 2-4" drivers in my center channel and I'm not happy with the depth of the music and voices. That's not to say the Klipsch won't sound better then my current system, I think it will otherwise I wouldn't be considering upgrading. I have a friend that has the same setup that you have and it sounds very good. But he doesn't listen to much music. I use my system about 50/50 but am placing more emphasis on music quality. I still haven't heard from any RVX-54 owners out there, maybe I should be focusing more on the Def Tech Mythos One's???

I wish Klipsch would make an RCX-5 or RVX-52, but oh well. I own rsx-5's and the rcx-4 goes nicely with them as a center, thought its not a perfect sonic match. I do find the rcx-4, like the rsx-4's to be a bit shrilly when pushed, but never the less its a powerful little speaker. I do not know if the rc-25 will sound the same because I think the horns are different and I know the crossover is lower. Also, the RCX-4 is virtually identical to the RVX-42 as far as sound quality and performance. Their specs are the exact same. I'd would check out the rcx-4 first, its only 200 bucks from an authorized dealer and if you don’t like it, get a bigger one. The 42 is a bigger risk because its a lot more money for what I can tell --no apparent reason. I have not heard the 54's yet, but there are a few threads here that pair them very closely with the RF-35's and even besting them in a few catagories. ---------------- That's the question I have, will the the rc-25 match the rvx-54 sonically? If I use the rc-25 as the center should I use the rb-15 as surrounds in a 5.1 setup? I'm not worried about the looks matching, I'm more interested in getting the best sound, especially for music, that I can. I'm not very familiar with Klipsch speakers so any help here is appreciated. What throws me off in matching the speakers is the tweeter/horn arrangements on Klipsch. The rvx-54's are of course different compared to the other reference series floor standing speakers. Also, can you use omnimounts with the rb-15's? With a rear port I don't think you want to mount them against the wall. Are there any other RVX-54 owners out there? What do you think of your speakers?

Preferrably Mexican beer. I live in Northern California and find the whole wine thing a bit pretentious. That's not to say I don't enjoy a nice glass of wine, usually Merlot! This movie is enjoyable and has some funny moments in it. Having been a single guy into my late 30's before getting married I can relate to Thomas Hayden Church's character, up to a point, and laughed my rear off at some of the lines. But in the end I gave it a 3 out of 5 star rating on Netflix. In order to give it 4 stars I would have to want to see the movie again and at least for now there is no reason to.

    Elektra

I watched it last week. Both the picture and audio quality are excellent. While Jen does look terrific the movie is only OK. I gave it a three out of five star rating on Netflix. There was a lot of character development left out that maybe fans of the comic would know.
  13. I'm not having much luck with the search function here and haven't found many posts regarding the new RVX 54's. Does anybody have them? How do you like them? I've listened to them and am thinking of buying them. I have some space limitations and the 54'w will fit nicely. I plan on using the RSX 5's for surrounds in a 5.1 system with my Denon 3805. The big question I have is I want to have all five speakers have the same drivers. The RVX 42 will not fit on my shelf so that leaves the RCX 4. My current system is using Mirage 595is speakers up front with a Mirage MCC center channel. The MCC has 4" drivers and it's a bit shallow sounding and I'd really like to have my next center channel to have at least 5" drivers. So I'm looking at the RC 25 which has a different tweeter than the X series I'm thinking of using. Is there going to be a tonal mismatch? In my proposed setup will the RCX 4 be better than the RC 25? Any help is appreciated.
  14. The difference is the 2815 has DVD-Audio capabilities and the 1815 doesn't.
  15. I have a 3805 purchased from Dakmark. No problems so far. Once I received the receiver I immediately contacted Denon for a replacement remote and all they needed was a copy of the receipt. They also confirmed the one year warranty. Good luck.
