  1. Go for it w/ the veneer of your choice. I believe it's birch plywood. It will dampen cabinets a bit more. My Forte I is walnut veneer over plywood.
  2. Yes it's a beautiful starting point. If I wanted 5.1 I'd add their wireless bookshelves and sub, but can see myself stopping at 3.0 as I listen to 2.0 now.
  3. I'll bet you could use it for a center and surrounds and a Heritage speakers like the Forte for the L&R, because my Yamaha AVR has a "Front" setting if you have the place you surrounds in the front because of space. It may sound a bit weird inside your L&R speakers. Regardless, I think the Theater Bar is a great concept w/ super-high WAF.
  4. Looks beautiful in this set up. LCR is all you need for most viewing.
  5. So no one replying has really been using it? I like the fact that it's a passive unit to choose my own electronics. I would think that hanging on the wall adds sound re-enforcement and 3D vs. on a shelf but I don't know as I've never heard. Wondering how fine the $2.2K theater bar sounds.
  6. I'd like your thoughts on it from actual users. How does it sound on an audio rack vs. hanging on the wall like it was designed for. Thanks you.
  7. Your didn't say how much space your have the the left and right of your seating. Consider purchasing one more Heresy for and all Heresy 5.1 system w/ the surround Heresy to the sides of your seating instead of behind. The Marantz NR1510 is an excellent sounding 50wpc AVR. https://www.audioholics.com/av-receiver-reviews/marantz-nr1510-nr1710 For less money the Denon AVR-S660H is a great budget AVR. https://www.ecoustics.com/products/denon-avr-s660h-s760h-av-receivers/
  8. Vpi's are nice for sure w/ performance and eye candy. But the new Thorens TD-1500 is a modern re-issue upgrade to the famous TD-150. It's handsome and understated, not glamorous, but with high performance and a great cartridge too. https://www.thorens.com/en/thorens®-td-1500-en.html https://hifiheaven.net/shop/Thorens-TD-1500-Sub-Chassis-Turntable-with-2M-Bronze-Cartridge-High-Gloss-Black https://www.techweekmag.com/news/hi-fi/thorens-td-1500/ https://www.monoandstereo.com/2021/10/thorens-td1500-turntable.html
  9. Here's a lovely vintage system I had not too long ago. Mac MA5100, Dual 1019, Altec Lansing Model 1
  10. thanks BillyBob. We can easily set center on top rack and put tv on it, but we don't want to block anymore of the window and increase the size of a huge monolith in the living room. I'll try to find a reference center to fit in the rack and give to give it a try. If I don't like what I hear the AVR will be gone and I'll use the Rega amp, which sounds better, for a 2.0 system.
  11. I have Mystere EL34 tube amp made by PrimaLuna and have tried ElectroHarmoix and Mullard. ElectroHarmonix have a warmer and easier listen, the re-issue Mullard have a more detailed and cutting sound w/ my amp. I prefer the EH w/ my amp and 3 different speakers. I've always thought Mullard were supposed to be warm but the new re-issue are not. I've read the new EH have that old Mullard sound and I believe it from my experience.
  12. I heard Forte IV w/ McIntosh MA352 hybrid (tube pre/200 watt SS power) integrated amp and the sound was jaw-dropping beautiful. Bass was plentiful and sound was balanced top to bottom. Soundstage was humungous and intimacy drew me in. I have Forte I powered by a Mystere tube amp by PrimaLuna and the added warmth and fulness was immediately noticeable. They has similar footprint to your Heresy III. Worth an audition. They may be Klipsch sweet spot in their Heritage line of speakers.
  13. George, the amp is a Mystere IA-11 made by PrimaLuna. Uses EL34 power running in Pentode mode, and 6SN7 preamp tubes. ( I notice your in Stoneville, NC. I live in Huntersville, NC north of Charlotte.)
  14. 2.0 HT in our townhome Nothing special but it sounds fine. Yamaha RX-V681 (looking for an 8" high Klipsch center to try 3.0) Rega Mira3 (Rega sounds better than Yamaha) Schiit Modi3 DAC (for TV optical out and BDP coaxial out to Rega amp) Yamaha BD-S677 BluRay universal player Klipsch Forte I floor speakers
  15. My Forte and Rega Mira 3 is a smoking combo. Rega's analogue warmth and British PRaT compliments the dynamic airy sound of the Forte. Not a receiver but a beautiful valve sounding British amp that can be had for a great price.
  16. I'm using a Yamaha RX-V691 90wpc AVR w/ Forte and while it is good my 60wpc Rega Mira3 is much better for a 2.0 or 2.1 system. I'd recommend and integrated amp instead of an AVR for stereo listening.
  17. Looks like I'll not be getting a center speaker for my system because folks here say none of the current center speakers match the Forte and will fit the A/V rack so I'll probably sell the AVR. I put my Rega Mira3 integrated amp back in the system for a 2.0 HT system. I did like the room correction, speaker tweaking, and DSP functions of the Yamaha, but the Rega is the better sounding amp and mates well with the Forte because the amp's warmth and PRaT really compliment the airy dynamic Forte. It's really quite an impressive presentation. (But if I come across a R-52c reference Klipsch center or similar that fits for a fine price I try it before putting the Yamaha rxv681 on the chopping block.)
  18. I heard the Forte IV w/ McIntosh Ma352 200wpc tube hybrid amp and the sound was jaw dropping. The MA252 is same amp w/ 100 wpc. I heard w/ new Marantz Model 30 and also very good but not as robust sounding. My dream is a MA5300 SS amp w/ Forte for convenience of DAC and no tubes.
  19. Yes it has dialogue lift. Are you saying to try this and not use a center channel speaker. And to your previous post, no where for a Heresy as that would be perfect.
  20. In a perfect world if your son has a proper spacious room the Forte IV L/R with a Heresy IV center and surrounds might be one of the finest movie/music HT system. It's my dream multi-channel speaker system anyways. 🙂
