  1. If you didn't look at more clips, this guy does the same song but has more balls! [] http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6283096511750618839&pl=true
  2. I guess there's your reply Anarchist - search for it! [] Or take Dr. Lessard's advice.
  3. It doesn't look like NOSValves cares to answer you Anarchist; trade secrets and all, ya know.
  4. good·ly https://secure.reference.com/premium/login.html?rd=2&u=http%3A%2F%2Fdictionary.reference.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dgoodly'> (gdl) adj. good·li·er, good·li·est Of pleasing appearance; comely. Quite large; considerable: a goodly sum
  5. Eric, my comment was meant to be "tongue in cheek". []
  6. Yeah, if Shawn can't fix it, send it to NOSValves! Reading his posts here I get the impression there isn't anything he can't fix or make improvements to...
  7. Be patient, grasshopper...watch AudiogoN closely...when an OBH-10 or -12 shows up express your interest immediately. Once the seller responds you can ask questions, but get your hat in the ring first.
  8. I think these will work very well for you meagain! These amps are not only mono-blocks but also switchable between triode and ultralinear modes for two different sounds. Go for it!
  9. As long as you buy used (I prefer AudiogoN) and keep the item in the same overall condition that it was in when you purchased it, you should not lose much (if any) when you decide to re-sell/upgrade. I have actually made a few bucks on many items I have purchased used on AudiogoN when it came time to try something new.
  10. Jeff, you might try a base made of 2 x 6s with a plywood top and bottom; fill 'em up with sand and you will firmly couple the Corns to the floor. It will reinforce the bass and improve the sound quality overall (IMHO of course). I have an article around here with Cornwall tweaks, I'll see if I can find it and post it.
  11. Monarchy Audio SM70 Pro! You may like it so much you get a 2nd for monoblocks [] ! The monos would not be within your stated budget but you know how that goes...
  12. If you snag these meagain, I would be very suprised if you didn't quit looking for amplification; unless of course you really want a 300 wpc amp also. These ain't no receiver!
  13. I have used the OBH-10 and it works quite well. You can often find them for sale at Audiogon. The OBH-12 or -22 have more inputs than the OBH-10. The OBH electronics are out of the signal path after activation.
  14. You are going to love your new preamp, Mike, congratulations!
  15. I believe Mr. Spinner was referring to the difference between a Scott integrated vs a pair of MC-30s; if not, I apologize. IMHO the difference between the two is huge soundwise (and $$$ wise). []
  16. Inquiring minds want to know...why do you keep bumping this thread to get replies, there must not be too much interest! []
  17. Uhhh...if you re-read the exerpt from DFH it specifically says "we do not recommended" for the listener or the speakers. What a ringing endorsement of your position!
  18. Give me a break........ Home audio is not mission critical and if tube gear is of high quality and in good working order reliabilty is not a issue. Yes tube gear requires more care then SS but so what. The now returned too posting "Mike Lindsay" is a classic example I rebuilt his 299 4 years ago and he has had it in service without even a tube replacement for that entire time as far as I know. Yes some are not so lucky and many times this can be traced right back to the user treating there tube gear like SS (turning it on/off a dozen times a day and so on) Also IT DOES NOT REQUIRE 4 HOURS FOR TUBE GEAR TO SOUND GOOD that is a complete LIE!! Both my systsem sound 100% listenable in 3 minutes max. Yes they sound better after a half hour but its not like you can't listen to them before that becasue they sound bad. Sounds to me like you had some awful condition tube gear or your just fishing to be flamed. Craig Craig, JJK did not say that a tube amp would take 4 hours to sound good. I believe JJK was referring to military test equipment taking 4 hours to settle in for optimum performance. Just because you don't agree with someone does not make his statements lies.
  19. Here is a photo of Chris' Cornwalls - I don't know what they looked like prior to refinishing but now these are some of the nicest speakers I have ever seen!
  20. Views will always exceed votes as folks return to the thread (again and again) to read what others have written since the last time they looked; it's the same with every thread is it not?
  21. I voted for the middle ground. I generally start a bit lower, more with the "I want the sound to be a bit more engaging" range, but it doesn't take long to crank it a bit if the situation permits. If the situation continues to permit...louder yet.
  22. This has probably been discussed previously, but look at the specs...the Cornwall III is listed as 103dB efficient as opposed to 98.5 dB for the original Cornwall! Pretty impressive if correct.
