  1. A bottle of Blue Moon. Dinner at 7:30 at the Capricebistro, a french restaurant on the Cape Fear River. I've read the menu so many times I have it memorized but still can't decide on an entre. The choices are Traditional o oast -Turkey with rice and walnut stuffing, yukon gold potatoes and sweet potatoes. d rouper - pan seared grouper with crab crust, provencal vinaigrette i amb - lamb shank braised w/cassoulet Beans, vegetable du jour pteak rites- (certified angus) NY strip seared "au poivre" w/pommes frites Watersooi - (chefs specialty) Seafood casserole "Belgian style" I think the appetizer will be goat cheese in a puff pastry with asparagus and wild mushroom sauce. Perhaps a french country style pate then again the Escargot "Petis Gris" is always yummy. It was nice of Winchester to loan me his credit card[] Cheers to all my bar buddies!
  2. Bluesboy stopped by yesterday afternoon and brought the remastered Van Morrison "Moondance" on 180 gram vinyl. Had a couple of Coors and a glass of Eagle Rare while we transferred the music to tape. Had a good time on a rainy Sunday. Cheers gentlemen.
  3. A watering hole and Mexican restaurant that I once frequented had a sign over the bar that read " Children left unattended will be sold". Always smiled at that one[^o)]
  4. I hope we get it.. auction next Saturday.. Good luck DU. Hope it works out for you. Then we will need to see music/HT room pictures.
  5. Hello guys....been away from the bar as charged......Netgear trouble so the pc has been out of order. Wife is doing better but we will not know if we are out of the woods till we go back to Duke. Thanks for asking Ben. I am still working on some music for you. Ace has been opening up the bar regularly so thanks to him for that. I see winchester has been away.....whats up with that buddy? Having 3 fingers of Eagle Rare....a 10 year old single barrell bourban. Put one on my tab.
  6. Thank you to your son John and to all others who have or are now serving. When I get home I'll remember some of my buds from long ago and raise a glass to them.
  7. Hmmmm.......A job opportunity already "Ace's Daycare and Backhoe Service"[] Ben....Got your pm....home internet is down. Winchester....any progress on the khorns? Yeah the Panthers choked.....again. Looked better doing it though.
  8. You are in for a treat! Let us know what you think once you get them dialed in. Weather remains great here.....a welcome change. The wife is improving...went out for a nice dinner last night. Thanks to you guys for your support. Ben...put the diet soda on my tab. I need to send you another box of CDs I've culled out. PM me your address again if you would.
  9. Ace is out on the backhoe. I'll drink that Martini for him JB. Sounds excellent.
  10. Kimberly Munley......a Hoggard High School girl from Carolina Beach, a swat team member, brought the Ft.Hood shooter down after drawing attention to herself to protect others. She continued to fire her weapon after being hit three times. My new hero.....get well soon.
  11. Sorry Ace....wish I could help. More than 1 in every 10 is out of work yet the gov't reports the recovery has started[:S] We have had sun here all week after the dreariest Oct. on record. Other than the wife's issues and an impass with the kitchen designer things are looking a little better. Will open a bottle of Jack Black later.....can't remember the last time I had any of that. To the regulars and any newbies at the bar......cheers and put the first round on my tab.
  12. Go Phils.... Saw the sun for the first time in weeks....all day sun[] Came home and finished the last two drinks of MM. The economy still sucks....work is too busy since I am doing my work and a downsized buddy's job......but did I mention the sun came out today? Ace...you doing okay? Stew? Ben? Mike? I know JB is doing well....at least till tommorow night. Any Bambi burgers Winchester? Cheers gentlemen.
  13. 21 years without a trick or treater.....how long will the record go?
  14. [^] Happy birthday.....oh to be 40 again or even 50[^o)]
  15. Who would have thunk it....beating VT. Speaking of Bambi....a large deer ran across the road while I was in Pender County...happend so fast I didn't see horns. There is a barn near there with over fifty sets of antlers on the wall....been there for many years. Wish you guys were closer.....I'd invite myself down to have some venison and a good red. I could use the diversion. The wife is still at Duke. Five courses of steroids, adjusting the anti rejection medication, blood sugar and blood pressure and she will be good to go Sunday hopefully. Home from work, Mark Knopfler on the system, a MM in hand. Just thinking I don't remember a more dreary October......again today. Will try to make the best of it. Cheers gentlemen....the drinks are on me.
  16. Baby Joey's a very handsome young man. I know Oldbuckster is proud. Thanks to the link to lungevity.org and your families participation in the fundraiser. My father also died of lung cancer. We all miss your father and his contribution to this forum. Many of us will never be able to hear a Stones song without smiling and thinking of Rob. We hope you will stay in touch.
  17. Without a doubt you guys have really helped and I owe you all big time. I'll be away from the pc for a couple or three days so mind the bar and save my seat. When I get back the drinks will definitely be on my tab. Ace....I expect to hear some good news from you when I return. Cheers!
  18. OB would have been 61 today.....about three months older than me. Heard "Waiting On A Friend" yesterday and thought of him. We use to chat on line early on Saturday mornings about nothing in particular.......I miss those talks. Happy birthday old friend.
  19. Thanks JB. The doctor called with good news right before lunch. There is minimal rejection and the kidney appears treatable. Pack up tonight and head back to Duke in the morning. They will pump her up good with steroids over the next few days and hopefully she will be okay. A lot of folks have been wishing her well and I know that has made a differance. I will let you know more when I get back to the Port City. Thanks to all my bar buddies.
  20. Hi Arky.....good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well. Not much to talk about sports wise here. My Heels and Panthers are in the same boat. Now JB looks to have two winners in his camp. Drop in at the bar more frequently....usually someone keeping it open. Thanks for the thoughts Winchester. No news as we waited for a call from her doctor at Duke last night. Hopefully good news today. I really hate that there is a problem that I can't fix. The kind words from you, Ace, Stew, Arky, and Ben mean a lot. As has been said many times...this is a great community. We had started a complete kitchen makeover prior to getting the news of Julia's issue and then our gas pac went out. There are workers everywhere and living is primative without a kitchen but we are hanging in there. Soon the worm will turn....I have no doubt. Cheers guys!
  21. No problema buddy. Most of the time I am more private than this but last night I needed to talk a little to my buds here. Just been talking to doctors lately. Julia is on year thirteen with her kidney. Her sister in Charlotte was the donor. Years later she recieved a pancreas that lasted 9 months and rejected. Her second pancreas is on year 7 I think. Julia was a juvenile diabetic (type 1) since age three...and depended on insulin twice a day. With the pancreas (that makes insulin) she was no longer diabetic. Set backs have been occasional with years of normalcy in between which neither of us take for granted. A routine visit at Duke revealed a problem with the kidney that caused her blood pressure to rise to a dangerous level. Our hope at this time is that the infection is acute and not chronic since the acute is treatable and medication may save her kidney. Thanks for the comforting words guys......it means a lot.
