  1. I am glad you guys brought up this subject. It reminded me that in the owners manuell for the Bat vk 60 that I am using it clearly states it is best to try out the three different output's for the optimum ohm setting in your system. After trying all three I have to agree with JM there is improvement to be found there in the choice. I had been using the 8ohm setting since purchasing the Bat about 3 months ago, I have been so completely delighted with the sound I just had no desire for tweaking (which I I am usually hot to do). Preliminary listening last night leads me to believe the 6ohm setting is the right spot for my ears. Isn't it a beautiful thing in our hobby how just such small tweaks can make such a difference? 2. Thanks for the links Dave. Very interestng read. Cornman.
  3. Please excuse my ignorance, but what are these"Project Tapes"? Are these of the home made tape library, possibly started by Wardsweb I belive, that were being traded around? Cornman
  4. Good to hear from you Max, glad all is well. Funny how your two storys kind of put"s ever thing into perspective. One mans trash is anothers pleasure.I sure would like to be able to ck out your high end friends trash. No telling what might be found there.... really ironic how your wifes stereo came full circle - ahh such is life. Always good to hear another stoy from our Klipsch brother in the Mediterranean. 5. So Don are you saying the old cd's sound better or worse than the newer best of cd's? Cornman
  6. Hello Jeverett, I live in Kyle just a short ride north of you. I have Cornwalls you are welcome too audition, however I warn you - You wil be ruined, are at least determined to purchase Cornwalls once you have heard them. [Y] I highly encourage you to hold out for as many audition's as needed to find the right sound for you.Shoot me a PM or email if you would like to hear them. Good luck, Cornman
  7. Dean, which croosover are you using with the jub's & that D45? Cornman
  8. I love it JT, "From Pauls hands to Gods ears". Cornman
  9. Kaiser please ck your PM. Foley, thats to funny. how many beds has he torn up? Maybe he needs tubes....[] Dee your right Sparky gets nervous when a camera comes out or I play rock to loud. But he really gets mellow when we play good Jazz. Did I mention the Bat sound is so sooooo musical & realistic......[]
  10. Right- right right, Kaiser. I have never heard better in my home. Best thing I have ever done for my system -buying the Bat. Now before all the howling starts, let me qualify that statment by reminding everone that this is my first entry into the higher priced amps. I had the Mc 2505,a Cayln tube amp, & many other SS amps & receivers like the HK930. So I have never had the opportunity to hear the 300B,or VRD's or Pcats or MC275 in my home. Some day I still plan to hear some of these other fine products. But for now I am still grinning from ear to ear ever time I fire this rig up. One of the most interesting things for me in my audio journey was the fact that I had come to except the the commonly expressed thought that after reaching a certain level of quality that the level of improvment 's were smaller in proportion to the dollar spent. And I had found that axiom to be fairly correct with many of my gear changes. But the Bat VK60 made a huge leap in improvement, akin to going from Fisher speakers to Cornwalls. The realisim, the clarity, the soundstage, simply amaze me. I can hardly wait now to get a Bat pre amp to round out this system. And while I am still on a roll the Jubile's will follow on my dream list. Thanks for all the encouragment Kaiser.
  11. I was sure "someone" could relate Jackson. Cornman
  12. Photo added of "Golden Eared Dog" named Sparky who verifys my sound. He gave his seal of approval on this one.[H] Cornman
  13. Do your self a favor if you have not already heard Tony Bennets cd- " Playing with my friends" get it. Super well recorded & with friends like Diana Krall, Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt, KD Lang, BB king, Ray Charles, & many others how can you miss. The other night I was playing the second cut with Stevie Wonder. Mr. Wonder is hiting some really high notes on the harmonica & for just a moment obviously goes beyond my hearing register as noted by my dogs yelp of discomfort. This has happned on two ocassions with this song, so I no longer play it when my dog is in the listening room. So I guess my Cornwall tweeters & my amp are doing ther job quite well. At last I am reasonable well contented with the sound.[H]
  14. Thanks to all for sharing there thought. I have sent an Email to Craig asking about used VRD's in this price range. I will tell the story tomorrow about the Bat road trip.Wish me luck. Later on, Cornman
  15. Like Marvel said-- or any one you can afford. In other words there all great, especially with fresh caps. Of course I own them so I am biased. Cornman
  16. Thanks larry, I will shoot him a PM. Anyone else? Cornman
  17. Any one have any experience with this amp. I will be using this with my Cornwalls. All thoughts & insight appreciated. How about you Kaiser Set, I know your a Bat fan? Thanks, Cornman
  18. I am not sure if I should be thanking you are not due to all the slobber runing down my face as I lust so for a pair of the Jub's....[:$] No seriously thanks for the review. But heres a question for you. Did you recently post a sale in the "Garage" for the Crowns, & if so what are you going to replace them with? Cornman
  19. I also wish I had an answer for your question 55. I have two copys of "Kind of Blue" , one is the Remastered version but I think I like the original version better...Cant really understand this because I really like some Remastered versions of other recordings. Seems to be a lot of variables...?? Cornman
  20. Dang, I am geting slowwww. Cant belive I mised that previous thread. thanks for waking me up Bill. Cornman
  21. Did any one else see the show last night? Pretty cool with Klipsch speaker & horns mounted under the seat. Bike was painted that copper looking color to match the Reference series. Cornman
  22. I must also give another kinder defination of the Koolaid reference. Tom Wolf had a book called the "The Electric Koolaid Acid Test", a romping good bio. on Ken Keasy & the Merry Pranksters. A more positive thought then Jonestown.[] Cornman
  23. Ron is very experiencd & proably has that right. For what its worth this was my teckneak on the 2505. Because of variations in output of differnt pre's., I would set the pre volume at almost 6pm and turn up the mc line stage pot untill I coud just barly hear a wisper of rise in volume ( about 9pm) Seemed to work pretty good, but other may have better advise. What kind of pre are you using? Cornman
  24. Good to hear so many can relate. Yes, I did replace the Cornwall crossovers about a year ago with Bec's Sonicaps & it was a good thing. The sound was defineatly cleaner. Jbsl sure would like to get togeather again with you, perhaps at Travis's Jubilee party if not sooner. Daddy dee I think you have pretty much sumerised the experience that we all need to remember " differnt is not necessarly better"it's just a matter of finding the flavor that suits you. If it wasnt for the amazing joy that Klipsch brings into my life I would not even be searching for perfection, & what a terrible loss that would be in my life. So klipsch on brother's, Cornman
  25. Yes area51, I have all tone controls defeated. In fact I am only using the amp section (which I read are mono block design) of the Sansui. With the tube Cary pre in front I have assumed the tone controls were unusable anyway, also feel that the tube in front warm up the ss a bit. Cornman
