  1. I am using a blue jeans HDMI--25 feet--to my panny ae900u. So far so good.
  2. Exactly what Bill said. Chris did my Original Forte that I use as a center channel. I assume he would have no problem upgrading the Forte 2 as well.
  3. Aloha Chris, Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing great! Did you get any of those Fortes I have emailed you to complete your all Forte system? Are you still making a new box for your center or are you sticking with the original? Having the upgraded Forte in the center makes such a difference. I am definitely a proponent of having the same speaker for the front three. I will be talking with you soon for my front two. Jeff
  4. So I have had a lot more listening time to compare the original Forte to Chris Munson's "Popbumpered" upgraded version. If I had to describe the difference in a word it would be fuller. The one with the new network has a deeper and cleaner bass, and everything just sounds tighter. I have cable and one of the NPR stations comes out of the center channel only--not sure why. I switched the speakers back and forth and the difference was easily noticed by both nmyself and my wife. This is a good thing as now she understands why I want to upgrade the other two! Cool! I do have a question--Chris are you out there? I notice that the one with the new network sounds louder then the other two at the same volume level. Is it more efficient now then the others? After I sell my Nakamichi Dragon on Ebay, I will be upgrading the other two. Thanks Chris! Jeff
  5. Aloha Wayne! Welcome to the world of big screens! Nice job. That is one fine looking Academy up front if I do say so myself!!!! I would definitely shoot for the Fortes in the front if you can manage it. And even though I love the academy, another Forte for the center would be nice to ad the cherry to the cake--having Chris Munson upgrade the networks is making the cake "a la mode!" I wish you would have told me about the Yamaha here in Hawaii. I was back in SOCAL for a business trip last week. I would have brought it to you on the plane. Enjoy all the gear. Jeff
  6. I am not so sure they are the same. The new one is supposed to put out 30 watts. I don't think that the original versions--even the dual mono-- would do that. Am I wrong on that?
  7. Is this Max selling his to get the new one?
  8. I would have to think that if this was a UPS Store paid pack job that they will pay the insurance on the claim. I don't see how they could weasle their way out of that.
  9. Happy Birthday Bruddah!!!!! All the best! Aloha, Jeff
  10. Here is another. I added more styrofaom at the end to make all the ends nice and flat.
  11. I feel for you as well. I have had the same thing happen. No matter how well you tell people to pack things, they never do it like you would. Here are some pictures of how I packed the heresy I have for sale on ebay right now. It is not that difficult, if one takes the time. As for yours, I have had good luck with insurance from usps, and my bro got reimbursed by fedex ground once, so maybe you will be OK, at least monetarily.
  12. Aloha Mr. and Mrs. dtel! And Hey Oldtimer! I have never heard the ll's. I bought the original Fortes because they were on island and cheap. Since you own both, how do they sound in comparison? Thanks. Jeff
  13. hey doc, yep. back in town. got in around 2 am on sunday morning. the medical mission trip went great. i have had the priviledge on working on several speakers from designing the whole enchilada to just designing the horn. my first puppies on the pro side: the kp-450, kp-650 series and on the consumer side: the quartet, forte II were my first shots at home speakers. of course, all were done under the mentoring eye of PWK. the epics were definitely a departure from the forte and quartet. some say, too much and too quick a departure. i was probably the most proud of the epic because of what they represented in technology back then. in a tight time frame, an awesome tech, input from several other engineers and myself, designed neo woofers, neo compression drivers, horns and other things from the ground up. even the cone material was a special formulation for us. some ask, what were we aiming for: a sound signature that was bascially the sound of an audiophile type speaker with the efficiency and sensitivity of a klipsch. i think we got there and then later, not. berryboy roy Aloha Roy, Does the matching KV-4 Center to the Epics have Neo Magnets like the Epics do? I also heard that you have CF-4's in your home. Is that still the case? Thanks.
  14. Hey Speakerfritz, We are on Oahu. Why did you leave? Were you in the military?
  15. Aloha Cal, AMAZING! I am so sorry that happened. People never cease to amaze me. I cannot believe they just left her there alone. Michele just read your post and we both wish your wife a speedy recovery. You really have changed thngs up a bit with your system. If you are looking for another pair of nice fortes for cheap, email me. I might have a line on a pair in your neck of the woods. I do not know the guy, and I am not sure he still has them, but it might be worth a look. Then you can have three fortes in front as well! Take care. Jeff
  16. Hey dtel, Since we are playing show and tell, here is Chris' X-over in my forte.
  17. Aloha Cal!!! How's it? Hope you are having a great summer! And thanks for the vote of confidence. As you can see from the pictures in the ebay ad, the cabinet of this heresy is not in as good condition as the Academy I sold you, but the drivers are perfect. The bottom of this heresy cabinet is a bit rough. Did not bother me, as I never see the bottom of a speaker! Have you made any system changes since last I saw you?
  18. You should come out. There are some good deals right now. Look at a site called vrbo.com. You can find private people that have B & B and stuff like that. Sometimes you can find good deals. You can come over and hear what you think of the "Popbumpered" Forte. The cost of living here is up there on the scale of things, but do-able. As far as the shipping for the Heresy, priority mail came out to about $90 to the east coast. Not ure about FEDEX Ground. I might be willing to work something out on shipping for a forum member, though.
  19. Hey dtel, We like it here. However, unless you have megabucks, owning anything here at the moment is next to impossible. Renters we be, and renters we stay. Oh, and having equipment shipped here from the mainland completely bites!
  20. Aloha All, I recently received a "Popbumpered" Forte to do center duty in my system between my stock Fortes. I have since put the Heresy on ebay. Here is the link to the ad if anyone is interested. The cab is a bit rough, but all drivers and internals are perfect. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&item=120020150784&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 If a forum member wants to make me an offer to end the auction early, just let me know. I can also email more pictures of anything you want to see as well. On to Chris Munson's modified Forte. Both my wife and I noticed a very audible difference in the clarity and bass. The bass is tighter in some way. It also seems to be more efficient then the others now. Having the three Fortes across the front is a big improvement. Nothing against the Heresy, but the Fortes match each other much better. If I only had the room for two more fortes for my rears. Thanks Chris! I am looking forward to upgrading my fronts soon. Now for some more listening!!!!
  21. Thanks. I am floored. They sound awesome. I will not go into a review unless asked to do so, but I could never tweak a pair of speakers to this level. I have a 550 wpc QSC amp on the way. I am thinking that I will Bi-amp them with 200 wpc on top and 550 wpc for the bass. Chris "Scotty--I need more power!" Sounds like you will have enough juice with those babies! Enjoy.
  22. Thanks so much. I had a feeling they were not worth much, but it can't hurt to check. Have a great day.
  23. Aloha Cal, How's it? Are you going to get rid of that Academy already? I hope you are still enjoying it. Hope all is well out in Riverside. Jeff
  24. Very nice. A tad more power hungry then your Klipsch me thinks. Congrats.
