  1. When's it gonna end, you've made my week.
  2. Yup, chainsaw capital of the universe even. Lots of guys wandering around with Homelites and Husquvana's in hand just looking for a tree to turn into a work of art. Honest! If i can figure out how to insert a photo i'll show you the carving that's in my back-yard, Indian head thats about 6' tall , truly a piece of art.
  3. FEMA trailers???? 4,122 km!!!! you'd a thought the guy at the U-Haul place would have steered me in the right direction, i explained my reasons for moving. Nothin' here but mountains, rivers and Salmon. Why has my wife got this big smirk on her face, damn now i get it, she knew all along!!
  4. Hi all, been a little busy of late, just moved to Hope, spent the last week trying to find the speaker factory. Everyone i asked looked at me either with confusion or sympathy, wassup with that? I'm guessing probably one of you guy's can give me directions from my location, i'm just North of the trans-Canada highway, or if your directionally impaired like me, you turn left if you are coming from Vancouver. thanx in advance for any help you can offer. Dazed and confused......John....
  5. Oh! you mean this is an audio forum????
  6. "One of the most entertaining threads of all time". A solid two thumbs up. What was the original question????
  7. Thanks for the replies, i will hold on here for a while, like i said there's no great hurry and i would rather buy from one of the forum members than take a chance on eBay or audiogon.
  8. Hi all, i need an Rc-7 to finish my home theatre, i'm not in any great hurry so if you think you may be selling in the near future let me know. I'm in Canada and dealers are few and far between....John.
  9. Here you go Swerv, plus it's here in Canada. One awesome sub, complete with controller. i love mine. John http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330027420241&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014
  10. Here you go Swerv, plus it's here in Canada. One awesome sub, complete with controller. i love mine. John oops forgot the link[]
  11. I do know that my ancient Denon dcd 1520 still wipes the floor with any of the other dvd or c/d players i have, including my H/k units. But i must admit i do get the urge to upgrade to one of the more illustrious newer players, i wonder how much more impressed i would be?
  12. Aww, do'nt worry he can only post a link if he submit's it for sale, and it's not on eBay yet. whats more i have just spent 3 hours trying to convince my wife how much i needed this cartridge/stylus. John
  13. Hi all, just two things constantly amaze me, one of them being the ss/ tube debate, and the other being this question. Now the first one i can understand there is something to debate, tubes and ss are different. This question to my mind is just plain obvious, 'there ain't no difference'. Of course this is only my opinion so it counts for nothing, but it seems to my very untechnical mind that there must be some sort of scientific way to to measure if there are any differences. This would at least give a starting point to debate, and if any differences are found/not found would that not give sway to one side or the other? Please remember my under the hood knowledge of electronics is minimal (ican put a plug into a socket) so be easy on me if my approach is a little too simplistic, i'm here to learn.
  14. How are you supposed to answer this? There are just to many candidates even if you only take the releases from this year. So i will go for........anything with Adam Sandler in it, Why?.... Adam Sandler is in it. Hey that was easier than i thought. A close second would be anything with Will Farrell(hope i spelt that right), and for the same reason.
  15. I've got the x-2000-r, this series of deck were supposed to be about as good as it get's for home use. Hav'nt used mine in a long while, not even sure if i have any tapes anymore. But i've got a lot of empty 10" reels. I remember that it was a good sounding deck, got it from a relative who had hardly used it, thought it looked really cool. Maybe i'll get it out of the attic and fire it up later. John...
  16. It is a power amp. I'm not sure that Musicians friend is here in Canada, and i definitely have a preference for good quality vintage gear i,e Klipschorns and the like. But thanks for the input.
  17. Thanks guys, im gonna see if i can get it home for a listen over the week-end. Yes, he say's it weighs in over 100lb. Stormin, i'll keep your very generous offer in mind. Though i think if i was to take you up on it i would have either lost my mind or gone deaf.[]
  18. Thanks jeff, The price is sure going to be more than that, he's asking $600 but who knows what he'll end up taking. Going prices seem to be way above that according to a couple of sources, anything from $800-$1800 The most important thing to me is that it is a reliable quality piece, and of course that i do'nt pay too much more than it is worth.
  19. A few months ago i got an awesome deal on a Paradigm servo 15 sub ($600 canadian) locally, even more awesome when you take into account no shipping costs and the possible related problems. Anywho the same seller has contacted me to see if i may be interested in a Sansui BA-5000 power amp. I have done the internet searches and found most of what i need to know and my interest is more than peaked. The owner knew i was in the market for a powerful amplifier(300 wpc) but at the time was'nt sure if he wanted to sell this piece. So has anybody here had any experience, or have any knowledge of inherent problems with these amps ? As always thanks for any input. John
  20. O,k now thats the sort of explanation i can easily understand. THANX. just noticed this is my 100th post,do i get some sort of recognition.[]
  21. Thanks Speakerfritz, I at least now know the difference even if i do'nt understand it.
  22. I always read these type of threads with great interest, but never seem to come away anymore educated. I understand that as a general rule i should expect better performance from a class A amp, but strangely one of my favorite "sounding" amps is a Hitachi Dynaharmony series that i use in my workshop. I have been led to believe that this is in fact a class G amp, always wondered why i enjoy it, just know that i do. But then again i think that some of the forum members would be suprised by my choice of main amp for 2 channel listening(JVC A-x5). I use this in preference of much more illustrious brands, i.e marantz, h/k, etc, of which i have a good number of. So anyone wanna esplain class G to an electronic's dummy. Have a good one, keep up the good work. John
  23. Hi Coytee, a good start might be Vintage triumph register, hav'nt been on their site for a couple of years since selling my Triumphs. I'll try to find some of the other forums that i used to inhabit...John.
